Description: The lightsabre of Ashin Varanin has served her well during her careers as marine, Jedi Knight, Sith Empress, Jedi Master, and now Jedi Padawan once more. Having come into possession of new materials, and as a part of her retraining, Ashin has rebuilt her lightsabre.

The dual-phase weapon has been altered to project a shorter rather than a longer secondary phase, in hopes of drawing her opponents in closer. The primary crystal, common to both phases, is a shard of a Healing Crystal of Fire, allowing a minimal self-healing benefit, better at handling many minor injuries than at handling any one larger injury. Naturally, focusing on healing would reduce the focus available for combat; this is an effect which requires active Force use, and is not a constant effect. Its intent is to reduce the fatigue of minor healing, rather than to improve overall healing ability. As Ashin has never been an especially talented healer, the benefit is, as mentioned, minimal.

The main phase uses both the Healing Crystal of Fire and a Lorrdian gemstone. In a minor way, it boosts her ability to intuit her opponents' actions, a major skill of hers. Obviously, when first confronting a Yuuzhan Vong, she will be at a more significant disadvantage than she would otherwise be. The handle-to-blade ratio for the main phase is slightly higher than normal, as suited to Ashin's combat preferences; the extra length and weight give space for the dual-phase machinery, as well as better leverage and heft. The main phase is yellow-orange.

The secondary phase uses a Hurrikaine crystal to achieve fractionally increased effectiveness against energy shields; this is a niche benefit, highly situational. This benefit applies against technologically generated shields, and to a lesser but variable extent against energy-based Force defenses such as those of the Gauntlet of Kressh. Against Force defenses, the benefit would be proportional to the wielder's power in the Force, and the focus involved. These benefits are fractional, capable of defeating defenses only with repeated full-strength impacts. The secondary phase is only 45cm long, closer to a large beskad in dimensions. It is useful for close-quarters combat and utility work. The secondary phase is blue.

In all combat situations, the lightsabre visibly functions like any other lightsabre, without grandiose effects.

Classification: Lightsabre
Size: Hand-and-a-half
Length: 33cm handle, 145cm main phase blade, 45cm secondary phase blade.
Weight: 1.8kg
Special Features: Minor boost to endurance when using healing powers. Minor boost to intuitive reading of opponents. Improved effectiveness against energy shields (only when secondary phase is activated).

Seems a bit heavy for a simple lightsaber, and while increased effectiveness against energy fields is, as you mentioned, a niche benefit, I'd like you to give a little more clarification on what sort of bonus you expect. Furthermore, would this only affect "normal" energy shielding(like say the Echani MK II) or also say, the Gauntlet of Kressh?

Perfect. Excellent example of how to personalize a lightsaber without going overboard. Pending approval.
