Strengths:
  • Fast and Stealthy: Can get into trouble and usually out again before trouble realizes it was there.
  • Perfectly Balanced: The mix of advanced systems and proven technologies provide a capable yet simple ship that doesn't require massive amounts of maintenance.
Weaknesses:
  • Light Defenses: Based on the A-wing's small frame, extra defenses that are standard on most Saotome ships were stripped out to save on space and power.
  • If Something Goes Wrong: The lack of redundancy and back-up systems that were removed means that if something goes down it'll stay broken until put in for repairs.
Description: After being contracted by Saotome to come out of retirement to design their new A-wing interceptor, Domino waited for them to lay down the design specifications of their other new ships in the Second-Fleet line while she researched the original Incom versions. Once she had a list of what was to be emulated and what could be improved upon, Domino lay the Saotome specs over her own and began to apply her own discerning judgment as to which was was needed and what could be considered excess or had been outclassed by another.

The first victims of this were any material or product that a Force user could easily detect, the Saotome Polymer and Whammy Drive both acted as Force beacons and thus had no place on a stealth ship. Next to go where the redundant and more esoteric shielding systems common on the other Second-Fleet ships as they complicated maintenance and drove up costs while vying for interior space and reactor power. A mix of advanced and active stealth systems keep the fighter well hidden in transit and while waiting in ambush; making the ship ideal for slash-and-run attacks or on intelligence scouting missions. Like the historic A-wings of the Alliance and New republic, nerves of steel and hair-trigger reactions are required as only the best can master the sensitive controls, powerful thrust, and advanced systems.

In a departure from the classic the fighter is based on, the weapon systems have been completely revamped, pulse cannons replaced the lasers to give more destructive power while the faster rate of fire and longer range help increase the firing time and number of shots a pilot can get on target when the average strafing run can last fractions of a second or in a twisting dogfight when an enemy fighter can barely be seen. Gimball mounts also help with this and allow the fighter to rotate the guns a full 360 degrees and while letting the pilot adjust the convergence on the fly. Flex tubes allow for a broader spectrum of mission profiles while giving the ship much needed flexibility by allowing for larger targets. To assist with targeting as well as keeping track of objectives a heads up display is wired into the pilot's helmet.
