STRENGTHS
  • Powerful Ship-to-Ship Combatant: The Ascendant was designed specifically to combat other ships in or around its size directly, and bolsters powerful weapon systems to go toe-to-toe with other Star Destroyers.
  • Increased Armor Plating: Without the inclusion of ventral hangar bays the Ascendant has instead further reinforced its underbelly to protect its reactor and allow it to move in closer to enemy warships without worry.
WEAKNESSES
  • Tall Bridge Tower: The Ascendant-class sports a rather tall and distinct bridge tower which houses the ship's command bridge, and like its ancient predecessors is vulnerable to being destroyed outright by precise starfighter fire if the shields are ever completely brought down.
  • No Hangar: To compensate for the increased weaponry and defensive armoring, the Ascendant has no ventral hangar bays and thus relies on other support vessels to field starfighters and other craft. Because of this it has no role versatility, and is solely used for ship-to-ship combat.
  • No Evasive Action Here: Because of the increased armoring and menagerie of weaponry, the Ascendancy is a slow and cumbersome beast that cannot make sharp turns on a dime nor can it chase down smaller faster ships.
DESCRIPTION
The territories of the Old Empire is a dangerous and lawless track of space, fraught with dangerous brigands of all shapes and sizes alongside a nefarious Mandalorian Force Hunter cult that once belonged to the now defunct Mandalorian Crusader regime. When the nascent Sith Ascendancy overran Bastion and made it their new home, they were faced with many challenges that their meager cobbled together fleet was not prepared to handle.

Thus the Ascendant-class was born, a powerful tank of a warship taking inspiration from the ancient Tector-class Star Destroyer that lacked mobility and dedicated hangar bays but made up for it with powerful armaments and defenses. It was to be the Ascendancy's hammer, a brutal tool of cruel efficiency that would smash even the most well-entrenched enemy fortifications and send them scattering in terror.

However; without hangar bays the Ascendant-class could not properly defend itself from the multitude of starfighters used by the various insurgent groups around the Braxant Run, and the Ascendant-class would often find itself rushing into battle alongside dedicated carriers, frigates, and corvettes that could compensate for its lack of role diversity.
