Arrival to meet with an opposite.

Novania
Two Weeks after Eshan left the Republic.
(Ya, i know, im slow as a snail)
[member="Khyros Sunblade"]
Alexander's breath left him as he stood in the frigid air that was Arkania. "You know Cole, i forgot how cold certain planets could get." His eyes turned to face [member="Cole Dagos"] for a few moments before letting out a sigh and turning his hands down into cup before blowing into them. "Well we might as well get going and find the Arkanian I had come here to talk to, no?" His eyes already found a few Arkanians looking at him and with a sigh he knew why. As far as the members of the Republic were concerned, his people were traitors in some form and he knew his face was not an unknown one.
None the less he started walking though and for a while yet he moved among those of the planet with Cole likely behind him. He had disassembled his saber and put the different pieces in pouches on his belt, split in such a way that it would only take him a few seconds of concentration to reassemble and the crystal remained on his neck as a necklace. He had decided that stating the crystal was a gift from his mother would only catch the eye of a Jedi and as far as he knew, they were not here in Novania in the form of Arkania's senator.
His body would come to the building shortly enough and as he breathed in his body moved. A Short word to the secretary warning her that he was here to meet with the man for whom took up his place here. It was time to see if he was ready to talk through a new government or even spur a yearning for one with this man.

Cole followed [member="Alexander Sannes"] giving him a nod when he mentioned the cold.

"Kind of reminds me of the depths of space." "Spent a lot of time on Star Destroyers."

He cut it short as they walked. Cole was content to follow along playing bodyguard. He was dressed rather warmly his hood and mask covering his face. Unlike Alexander Cole made no effort to conceal anything. He wore Armor under the heavy jacket he always wore his sword in a sheath on his back and a blaster pistol on his hip. For all intents purposes he was just a bodyguard. If they were lucky that is all anyone would take him for and therefore underestimate his abilities in such arenas as diplomacy and politics.

Novania, Arkania
Office of Senator Sunblade
"Mr. Sunblade, you have two visitors here. One is fairly armed." the secretary in the outer office said over the office intercom.

Khyros tapped a few keys on his board and pulled up the current security footage. Armed men wanting to see him warranted the check. The only reason that the armed person was likely even allowed into the building was the identity of the other man. [member="alexander sannes"] stood, waiting for the secretary to let him and his companion past. Khyros was a little worried about having an armed presence in his office, particularly an Echani. Not for any racist reason, but rather because the warrior people took combat for more than fighting, it was a way of speaking and getting to know one another. Khyros looked down at his suit and silently cursed that he was wearing his favorite shirt.

"Please let Mr. Sannes and his companion in. Have security stand down, they are welcome guests." Khyros said through the intercom, knowing that the two men would hear it. The secretary would wave them through to a wroshyr wood door, heavy and soundproof. Once inside the office, they would find a large room with a warm feel. Logs burned in an antique stone fireplace at the far end of the room from the door, though the warmth reached the whole room. Khyros was behind a modestly sized desk to the right of the door, his back was to the window there, his desk and person framed by the skyline of Novania. A pair of comfortably padded chairs faced the desk. The rest of the office was mostly open, a sitting area in front of the fireplace, stone walls adorned with various odds and ends, a sizeable chunk of stone from the Onderon senate building sat on a pedestal opposite Khyros's desk. On either side of it were the ceremonial armor and uniform he wore as a Senate guard. A plain, but well crafted rug took up the rest of the floor space.

Khyros rose to his feet and came around his desk to greet Alexander, his hand was extended for a handshake and a warm smile lit his features.

"Mr. Sannes, it is both a surprise and a pleasure to see you." He said in near flawless Echani, then switched back to basic. "You and your companion are welcome here, have a seat."

"Senator Sunblade. I apologize for the inconvienance as my choice of being here is rather sudden and something of an order. Yet that leaves me with an opportunity to speak with you that i had not gotten as a senator when we were less than able to meet... I applaud your Echani too, not many actually recognize its use anymore." He took the hand and shook it with a smile. From what he had known this man was not one that was known to be so stuck up like others. Even now he could see the armor of the Senate Guards nearby.

"You know, i had not actually known about your service as a senate guardsman until recently. It makes me happier to know things were progressing well for people who once protected us and considering your time i might have actually seen you in it before becoming a Senator myself without knowing it." His eyes ran over the armor and he wondered just what it had been through. Had he been in the Senate attack back when Alexander was young, that had destroyed the senate building and left Coruscant in terror. Had he fought to protect a senator he had known for his time without knowing it. It was curious.

All while he talked, his hand waved for Cole to stand where he wished. Alexander was surprised Cole had been allowed in with him, which meant they found Alexander either as no thread or they did not care. Either way it saved him effort of finding the man after the talk.

Cole remained silent posting himself by the door letting the two men get their pleasantries over with. The fact that [member="Khyros Sunblade"] bothered to speak Echani did not impress him in the slightest.

He stood there his arms behind his back just watching the men. The Senate Guard Politician and the Echani Diplomat. It was the start of a joke gone horribly wrong.

Cole largely ignored the hand wave from [member="Alexander Sannes"] having every intention from the beginning to do exactly has he pleased. Cole was not a Diplomat nor did he have any interest in pretending to be one. They were talking to a representative of the Republic and in his eyes they were all guilty until proven innocent. His body language would convey as much.

"No inconvenience at all, Mr. Sannes." Khyros replied, he noticed Alexander glancing at the armor, then mention it specifically.

Alexander Sannes said:

"We had been at the same functions several times," he replied, "But I was never assigned to the Eshan delegation. I was at Onderon, when it fell. That was my last battle with the Guard. After that, I sought to utilize my education and standing to help the Republic in a better way." He said by way of explaining his choice to join the Senate. He leaned his hip against the edge of his desk, placing his arms to either side of his body, lightly resting on the desk. His posture was completely relaxed as he looked between Alexander and his companion. "How can I be of assistance to the people of Eshan?" He assumed that there was going to be a request of some sort, but Khyros was willing to listen.

[member="Khyros Sunblade"] [member="Cole Dagos"]

"Onderon... i had only been on the planet a few days before the entire system was to be evacuated of Republic presence. Spent the time getting to know the workings of the Senate before i spoke in a greater voice to the assembly. It is good to know though that i had seen you a few times without knowing it. Makes me feel safer yet knowing the potential of the Senate's guards... well not anymore due to circumstances but im rambling now." His hands crossed as he moved to rest on the arm of one of the chairs, only half sitting. Even if he did put his own weight on it, it was likely make no difference.

"Assistance to the people of Eshan..." He sighed as he heard that. He was still annoyed to be a runner for the Compact, he missed the days when he stood with these men. The only reason he even put up with Janira's plan was for Queen Varanin. "First, id like what we talk about to be a purely personal thing. As long as that is ok with you Senator. I no longer stand as an equal with you and my entire purpose for being sent here is as the Compact's errand boy. Id be far more comfortable if we talked not as a Diplomat and a politician, but rather a Former Guard and a Echani with some questions."

Khyros looked between Alexander and Cole, obviously thinking something over. He finished by looking Alexander in the eyes for a few heartbeats, then turned and walked around his desk. He tapped a few buttons, which made the windows opaque and activated a white noise generator. Then he pressed the intercom.

"Elaine, please shut down the security monitors in my office and activate the bug screens."

"Are you sure, sir..." Her voice was hesitant.

"Yes, Elaine. I am taking some time with my friend Alexander, no interruptions please."

"Yes sir." Then the line went dead. The lights on the intercom went dark and the room seemed to pressurize.

"Come, let's sit by the fire, we should be comfortable while we talk. Would either of you like a drink?" He said as he came out from behind the desk and walked over to a cabinet that turned out to be a bar. He pulled out a glass container with golden liquid in it.

Alexander shook his head as he took his seat slowly and relaxed a bit more, his eyes following the man. "Just some water will do, there is still one thing true about me, and that is that i am a child when it comes to drinking." He smiled as his eyes turned to look at [member="Cole Dagos"], making sure he is taken care of before continuing with his line of speech involving the other man.

"I won't lie to you, the purpose for my coming here is that the Echani Compact wanted to try and bring Arkania into their fold. That is for your people to decide and that is all i care for saying on that. Im still a bit sore over being torn and made to be a hypocrite because of Janira and my Queen's decision. Yet i have another question for you Mr. Sunblade. How has the Republic handled itself in the last two weeks, what is it the populace thinks of my people if I might ask you so. I am far more concerned with their well being so i would like to know what it is they think of the Echani people?"

He knew the answer well enough. Eshan was probably seen as a traitor world, leaving the republic and letting itself use the republic as a shield. It was a valid tactic, but a short lived one at this rate... he would rather his world return than remain out yet his queen ordered otherwise.

Khyros nodded and poured himself a finger of the liquor, then picked up another decanter and poured a glass of water and anything that [member="cole dagos"] would like. He walked over, handed the water to Alexander and if Cole joined them, he'd hand him his drink of choice, then sat down. He took a small sip, then crossed his legs and looked at Alexander as he spoke.

"I am not the people, so while I have my finger on the heartbeat of my people, I can't guarantee it is the same everywhere." he paused and thought of how to put it. "My people know the Echani are not cowards. The same action by another planet would have likely garnered such a title, but the Echani are known to not be cowards. If your Queen were such, she would no longer be Queen, I suspect. No, not cowards. They, and I, think that it was a misguided move, premature by a long shot."

He took another sip, then held the glass in his hand and rested his arm on the arm of the chair, holding the glass with his finger tips around the rim.

"As to your other question, the Republic has been slow to respond to this change. I think it is an understandable slowness, but unbiasedly, we have been slow. With the Mandalorians breathing down our neck, Alderaan and Eshan initiating secession, and the ever present worry of when the One Sith will break the ceasefire, we have been slow." He took a deep breath and looked into the fire. "I can bring your words to the corporate council. I do not rule my world, merely represent its interests. I should say, however, that even if Arkania joins you, I will not." He looked back to Alexander with the fire reflecting in his eyes, but a small, sad smile on his face. "I have given too much to the Republic to abandon it in its time of need. I have been offered the position of Minister of Justice. Should my planet fall away from the Republic, I will be remaining within. My conscience can let me do no different."

Cole remained at the door as [member="Alexander Sannes"] and [member="Khyros Sunblade"] spoke. While he was not thrilled that Alexander and in a single heartbeat betrayed his every reason for being there in the first place he remained quiet. Frankly no Echani with an ounce of loyalty in his heart would consider a mission from the Queen being an errand boy.

When offered something to drink Cole politely declined with a shake off his head. When the Republic Senator mentioned the word Justice Cole snorted in disgust but said nothing. For every minute he stood there his skin crawled. What did the Republic know about Justice. In that moment Cole made a decision. He would go back to Janira and the Queen and petition for a different assignment. One he could be proud of and one hopefully away from Republic interests.

"If Arkania joins Eshan..." He corrected the man as his head rested on his hand, looking to the armor again. "I personally have no say in what happens after this meeting, that is for my Queen and the Compact to decide... Hopefully its a choice that is better than the recent ones..." His eyes went to Cole, already knowing what was probably going through his mind and sighing. "And i know what you are thinking Cole, traitor and what not. Keep in mind that i never wanted to be recalled yet Janira caused this to go this far."

He sighed. "Though in truth my Queen does require me as much to protect Eshan and without hesitation i would go to her side and defend if she would ask..." He mused to himself before remembering their conversation and smiling. "But, that is sorrow for a different day. I must congratulate you on your new position Sunblade. If i had been able to remain in the senate i surely would have moved to acquire if possible a position of my own, yet here we both are. One with such a place, and one who made a very poor decision when considered."
