PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Standing at a tall and lean 5’9”, it’s clear that Arra’s struggled with proper nutrition during most of her childhood. She has a gaunt face and sharp eyes, with a chin that most often sets stubbornly. Her long dark brown hair is most often kept in a braid, out of the way of work and fights alike. Her green eyes are almost always sharp. The clothes she wears are grungy and worn, usually a patched mechanic's jumpsuit or a ragged tunic and olive green pants, and hang off her frame. Her boots have also seen better days, held together with adhesive, rags, and prayers.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Arra is used to relying on herself and expects nothing from the galaxy except pain and loss. She treats kindness and charity with suspicion, always waiting for the other boot to fall. Her sister Suri is her greatest soft spot as she will do anything to protect and care for her.

STRENGTHS

  • Innate Mechu-Deru—Arra's latent Force sensitivity manifests most often as Mechu-Deru. She is able to fix most machines and quickly diagnose a mechanical problem
  • Fourteen Going on Forty—Having had to grow up quickly at a young age means Arra acts more responsibly and responds more maturely than most her age.
  • Resourceful—Additionally, Arra can find ways to adapt if the situation calls for it.
  • Self-Reliant—Arra tends to keep her troubles to herself and prides herself on being low-maintenance.
  • Scrappy—Before being orphaned, Arra's father taught them enough of the Epicanthix culture to instill strict discipline and martial skills. Arra can fight well enough to survive.

WEAKNESSES

  • Low Maintenance—Arra doesn't tell anyone what she needs, believing that help comes with strings attached or a price to pay.
  • Just a Kid—In spite of her apparent maturity, Arra is still only nineteen and hasn't fully processed the trauma of her childhood. Outbursts may occur when she no longer can regulate herself.
  • Paranoid—Everyone wants something and nothing is free. Arra does not trust anyone easily and is slow to warm up to people.
  • Malnourished—Without regular access to the necessary amount of food needed for a growing child and her younger sister to care for, Arra is short and slight for an Epicanthix. She lacks the muscle mass to truly go toe-to-toe with a someone and her victories often result from luck or outsmarting her opponent rather than strength.
  • Dyslexic/Illiterate—Having had to work at a young age and forgo schooling, Arra can barely read and suffers from dyslexia when she tries. When necessary, she relies on a droid to read aloud to her.

HISTORY

Take care of your sister.

Those were the last words Arra heard from her ailing father at ten years old. He became unresponsive until his illness claimed him a couple days later, still waiting for the wife that skipped out on them to return for the children she bore. Arra had been slowly taking on more and more of her father’s work beforehand as he grew more and more ill, but very few wanted a child mechanic working in their shops no matter how gifted. She finally found a job doing grunt work in a mechanics’ garage, tweaking the shop droids to be more effective when no one was looking. Every day was a struggle to get enough food for Suri and herself. Eventually, a gang moved into their small home and kicked them out.

Somehow, she managed to keep them both alive and relatively healthy. Arra landed her first real job at fifteen, the shop owner taking pity on the two orphans. She worked hard, and made sure Suri had food to eat and a warm, dry place to sleep. But changing landlords and increasing rent weighed on her. At sixteen, Arra started going to the fighting pits to bolster her income. Even if she only got paid to show up and get beaten, the extra credits helped. The rare occasions she did win were breaths of air between drowning.

While Abregado-Rae seemed determined to grind Arra down to dust, Suri made sure wherever they slept was Home. Little plants she had transplanted into cups, empty cans, broken bowls, and one old helmet made their tiny apartment feel alive. Small, broken, and abandoned creatures that Suri had found made the space feel less empty. In spite of her complaints—about their mess, the smell, how they would feed them—, Arra never made Suri get rid of them.

Take care of your sister. Suri always came first. If there wasn’t enough food, Arra lied about not being hungry and gave it all to Suri. If Suri outgrew her clothes, Arra got her new ones and put off getting something she needed. When Suri’s boots finally gave out, it wasn’t a question in Arra’s mind. She handed over her own boots and said they were too small for her. It was weeks until she got lucky in a fight and won enough to buy a new (to her) pair.

What little progress they’d manage in eking out an existence disappeared in an instant. The arrival of Mandalorians only served as a warning of imminent war. Arra quietly began preparing to leave the planet.

Only to have a Sith fleet appear in the skies above.

Take care of your sister.
