Galatine

The proud city of Galatine stood tall as the capitol, and largest city, of Arondight. Its vast lands were situated within the north of Avalon, and spanned much of the continent's northern landmass. Site of the Iron Imperial Throne, the young city reigned as the heart of the Iron Empire.

The city was founded by then Executor: Isamu Baelor, following the Battle of Bloodhelm. Though victorious, the Migrant Fleet yet faced an uncertain future. With their supplies ravaged by the war, and ever stalked by the One Sith Inquisition, the bleak gaze of death fell squarely upon their heads.

Under orders from the Executor, the Migrant Fleet's aimless journey would come to an end. They would settle upon the ground for which they bled, and they would fortify for the looming battle with the One Sith.

With the destruction of the Kingdom of Coreiseuse, and extinction of its royal bloodline, the fallen Kingdom's lands were left in a state of disarray. With no governing body to instill order, madness quickly engulfed the realm. Those who once called the Usurper King, now beholden to only their basest desires, turned feral.

With little in the way of opposition, save for poorly trained and equipped locals, the marauders plundered and enslaved with impunity. Drunk with the blood of innocents, they roamed the countryside, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake.

Yet reeling from the war, the Kingdoms of Curtana and Clarent could do but little. What remained of their armies stood guard at their borders, shielding their lands from the bloody massacre beyond.

Upon discovering the cruel fate of their compatriots, Galatine's native population cried out in anger. Their collective voice demanded that swift justice be brought upon those responsible. Heeding the desperate pleas of their people, Galatine mobilized.

With their numbers replenished, bolstered by that of the locals, a determined and reinvigorated Galatin force rode forth. In the months that followed, a systematic war of extermination was waged against that of the murderers and thieves.

Incensed by the barbaric horrors inflicted upon their people, and burning with a vengeful fury, the Galatin force showed no quarter. They retaliated in kind, slaughtering the marauders to their last.

Hailed as liberators, the locals were quick to declare for Galatine. The city's influence expanded rapidly, until the flag of the dual-headed wolf soared far across Avalon's northern landmass.

Following the founding of the Iron Empire, the city bloomed into a golden age. Millions of refugees heeded the call of the Iron Empire, and fled to the Iron Imperial capitol. Galatine's population exploded, and soon, the city blossomed into a megalopolis.

Notable locations include:
  • Federal District:
The Iron Keep: The fort from which the battle against the Vulture King was waged. It was later rebuilt into an extremely large, and well defended, keep.
The Iron Imperial Throne Room: The heart of the Iron Empire. From this great hall, the Emperor served his people.

[*]The Iron Imperial Military Headquarters: A large, well fortified building from which the Grand General, and Grand Admiral, led the Iron Imperial Military.
[*]The Iron Imperial Security Bureau Headquarters: A large, well fortified building from which the Director guided the agents of the Iron Empire.

  • The Warden Rotunda: A large, well fortified building from which the Wardens of the Iron Empire governed the Iron Realm.

By virtue of its exceedingly bountiful harvests, the Kingdom of Curtana boasted a staggering population. One far in excess of its peers. As such, the Kingdom possessed the ability to field the largest army of all Arondier Kingdoms.

In contrast to the other Kingdoms of Avalon, the Kingdom of Clarent was not one born of an ancient, noble family. Rather, the Kingdom was founded by a family of extremely wealthy traders, who utilized their exorbitant wealth to secure the sovereignty of their young Kingdom.

In the war following the disappearance of Avalon's royal family, the traders employed an astounding mercenary army, comprised of the greatest mercenary companies in the Unknown Region, including: The Sun Wolves, The Stone Breakers, The Angels of Retribution, The Shadow Blades, and The Plague Claws. Twenty-thousand strong, Clarent's mercenary army fought to secure the Kingdom.

In its infancy, the Kingdom's influence was confined to little more than the thin strip that connected the northern and southern landmasses of Avalon. However, following the War of the Pretender, its holdings vastly increased. As part of the peace treaty forced upon the Kingom of Caliburn, much of the dishonored Kingdom's northern lands were annexed, and given to the Kingdom of Clarent.

The Kingdom of Caliburn was a constituent region of The Arondier Empire. Its lands were situated within the south of Avalon, and spanned the west coast of the continent's southern landmass. Once the richest and most powerful of Arondier Kingdoms, it has since become a mere shadow of its former self.

At its height, Caliburn's influence extended far across the southern lands of Avalon. Its holdings the envy of the realm. However, this was not enough for its wanting King, who looked upon the realm of others, and yearned.

Upon the arrival of the Pretender, the King of Caliburn secretly parlayed with the invader. Together, they struck a deal to march on the Kingdoms of Avalon, and split the continent in two.

Following their defeat, the Kingdom of Caliburn was subject to humiliating peace treaty. For breaking the Avalon Accords, much of its vast lands were annexed. A substantial portion of its northern territory was relinquished to the Kingdom of Clarent, while the most eastern of its lands, home to Avalon's richest mines, were ceded to the Kingdom of Secace.

The Quiet Lands

The Quiet Lands, formerly the prosperous Kingdom of Maccabee, was an inhospitable wasteland situated off the north-eastern coast of Caerleon. Once the center of trade for the entire planet, it has since been reduced to little more than a rotting husk.

At its peak, the Kingdom's vast streets once bustled with life. Droves of merchants, hailing from far across the Unknown Region, flocked to the wealthy city, eager to sell their wares.

Yet, the Kingdom would fall victim to the Gulag Plague. Amidst the initial outbreak of galactic epidemic, the virus was unleashed in Maccabee's bustling markets. Swiftly, the Kingdom inhabitants perished.

The Gulag Plague - 425 ABY

Arondight fell victim to the vile touch of the Gulag Plague, amidst the initial outbreak of the virus. Unleashed in the busy markets of the Kingdom of Maccabee, the virus brought the population of the Kingdom to its knees. The identity of its carrier had long been lost to history. However, to this day whispers abound, with many attributing the epidemic to a Chiss trader.

To halt the contagion's devastating spread, the surrounding Kingdoms of Evalach, Pridwen, and Arimathea, quarantined the besieged Kingdom. Along its edges of its territory, an all-engulfing blockade was erected: any and all that attempted to flee, where destroyed without hesitation. Though the actions of these Kingdoms condemned every soul within the Maccabee, the realm was spared from the plague's fatal touch.
The 400 Year Darkness
In the four-hundred years that followed, the history of Arondight would repeat itself in a cyclical nature. An upstart noble, driven by greed, would make attempt on the throne. The past was littered with such attempted coups. However, all would end in failure. Crushed by the power of the Kingdom of Avalon, and its royal bloodline.

The Netherworld Event - 844 ABY
On the eve of the twelth Taungsday, the Kingdom of Avalon's royal bloodline vanished. King, Queen, Princes and Princesses: none remained. With their disappearance, the Kingdom of Avalon fractured with frightening speed. Descending into civil war, every Noble House with an army, and every upstart who could afford one, laid claim upon the vacant throne.

The war waged for years, enacting heavy losses on all sides. Ultimately, no one faction could claim dominion over the entire continent. War weary, the King's of each would-be Kingdom set aside their arms, and sought peace - If for the moment.

From the bloody war, five separate Kingdoms emerged: The Kingdom of Curtana, The Kingdom of Coreiseuse, The Kingdom of Clarent, The Kingdom of Secace, and the Kingdom of Caliburn. The Avalon Accords, signed by each Kingdom, recognized the sovereignty of the others.

The War of the Pretender - 847 ABY

However, the fragile peace brought upon by the accords would be short lived. A mere three years later, a claimant to the Avalon Crown would rise. A young man, claiming to be the bastard son of the last King of Avalon, declared himself to the world. Backed by a powerful mercenary army, he struck.

37AIMuY.png

The Kingdom of Coreiseuse was the first to fall, swept aside by the might of the Pretender's mercenary army. As an example to the other Kingdoms, of the consequences of failing to bend the knee, the Kingdom of Coreiseuse was eradicated.

However, the Pretender's brash actions only served to embolden the remaining Kingdoms of Avalon. Together, the Kingdoms of Curtana, Clarent, Secace, and Caliburn pooled their resources, and set out repel the invader. For the first time in years, Avalon was united against a common foe.

Unfortunately, vile treachery would doom the loose alliance. During the bloody battle, the Kingdom of Caliburn turned on its allies, uniting with the invading horde. Caught between two powerful armies, the forces of the Kingdoms of Clarent, and the Kingdom of Secae, were utterly obliterated.

Though the Kingdom of Curtana lost much of its army on that dreadful day, they fought on. Retreating to its border, the Kingdom fought valiantly against its foes. However, it could do little to stop the inevitable.

Seeing victory as all but assured, the Pretender made the brash decision to split his army, and make attempt on Caerleon. A move that would ultimately cost him the war. Unlike Avalon, the Kingdoms of Caerleon were not so fractured. Presenting a united front, the push of the Pretender's army ground to a halt.

VJceUwC.png
Ultimately, the arrival of the Migrant Fleet would tip the scales of war in favor of the besieged Kingdoms. Former-military personnel of the One Sith, the veteran army lifted the siege of Curtana, before striking at the heart of the Pretender. Together, the combined armies assaulted Bloodhelm Keep, and in the ensuing battle, slayed the Pretender and King of Caliburn.

Outnumbered, and facing the wrath of those whom they betrayed, the King's young heir was quick to surrender. Accepting the severe repercussions imposed upon the dishonored Kingdom.

The Iron Empire - 848 ABY
In the immediate aftermath of the war, the Migrant Fleet settled the city of Galatine. Swiftly, the young city's influence spread far across the continent's northern landmass, encompassing the former-holdings of the extinct Kingdom of Coreiseuse. Alongside the Kingdoms of Avalon, they would eventually form the Iron Empire.

In time, the Iron Empire would blossom into a galactic superpower. Its reach extending far across the Unknown Region. Though it would primarily operate out of Csilla for the next few years, at its heart, lay Arondight.
