Strengths:
- Merchant Station: Primarily the Ark Class function as a Merchant station. They are constructed as Marketplaces, factories, and places of trade. The innards of the station as well as the surroundings reflect this perfectly. There is space for shop stalls, factory floors, and general office space that can be used by corporations and private parties. The giant ring around the station functions as a docking yard for general use by capital ships as well as being able to function as a driveyard. All in all the Ark Stations are designed to function as massive centers of commerce wherever they are.
- Heavily Defended: Though they are not armed for assaulting inbound capital ships, the Arkuhn-Class stations are heavily defended. The stations hulls are all reinforced with extra armor, their shield generators are redundant, and dozens upon dozens of point defense weapons lines the ring around the station. Though they could not fight an entire fleet, they are more than capable of surviving a siege by pirates and lesser forces.
- No Attack: The Arkuhn Class stations are not armed with any real means of attack. They are not designed as system defenders or anything of the sort. Though they can defend themselves and hold out against a siege, they are no match for even a single Capital Class ship. A star destroyer could, given enough time, break through the Arkuhn's defenses, though this would likely take several days, however since the Arkuhn Station cannot shoot back, it would have plenty of time as long as no reinforcements arrive.
- Ring: The ring that sits around the Ark-Class Stations is not actually part of the central station, more it is simply attached. This means that the ring is extremely vulnerable to damage and can be destroyed far more simply than the rest of the station. If the ring is destroyed in the right way, pieces of it could 'fall' on the station and cause extensive damage.
The Ark Class Stations were designed as a standard Space Station that could be constructed at a moments notice by Vanir Technologies, Haven Shipyards, and Arceneau Trade Company.
Up until now these companies have all utilized various models and different ranges of stations.
These Space stations were small, large, asteroids, and constructed of simple steal. A large variety of everything and everything has been used to great success over the years. As the companies expanded however a slight shift was made, and the realization came that as with everything standardization might be simpler.
As a result of this the Ark Class came into being.
Constructed at several Haven and Vanir Driveyards, the components of the Ark Class were built to be standardized, meaning that each station was interchangeable with the next.
This not only meant that the stations were easy to construct, but they were also incredibly easy to repair. The fringe benefit of course was also for the customer, as each station was exactly the same it allowed for a certain level of familiarity for those who wished to explore the stations themselves and use their facilities.
For all these reasons the Ark Class stations were put into production, built and slowly sent out all over the galaxy to serve as centers of commerce in various locations.
