PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Aricsias carries himself with the deliberate economy of someone accustomed to spending long hours on watch. He rarely fidgets. When another person speaks, his attention remains on them, though he is seldom unaware of what moves around them. His posture and measured movements give him a formidable presence before he ever reaches for a weapon.

The mask makes that reserve difficult to read. Those unfamiliar with him can mistake his watchfulness for suspicion, or his silence for disapproval. He understands the impression he creates and takes care with frightened civilians: a lowered voice, an offered hand, room to retreat. With children, he kneels. His bearing retains the formality of the Order he remembers. Even after awakening, he maintains his equipment and appearance as faithfully as circumstances allow. Familiar rituals help him find his footing in an unfamiliar age.

Unmasked appearance and exact measurements remain open for development.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Aricsias approaches the Jedi calling with sincere conviction. He believes that discipline should make a Jedi more dependable, compassion should shape their judgment, and authority should carry obligations toward the people affected by it. He expects these things of himself before expecting them of others.

His courtesy is habitual and attentive. Rank does not determine whose account deserves to be heard. An attendant reporting an unusual visitor receives the same patient consideration as a Master offering counsel. He remembers names, keeps confidences, and considers a promise something that must be honored even when fulfilling it becomes inconvenient.

He is capable of swift, forceful action. When someone is in immediate danger, he does not wait for a better opportunity to intervene. Once a threat has been contained, however, his response changes. Surrender must be heard. A prisoner must be protected. Anger does not grant permission to punish. These principles survive his displacement more readily than his assumptions do. The Jedi of 902 ABY have endured events he never witnessed and adapted to circumstances he has yet to understand. He can be exacting with them, sometimes unfairly. Learning to distinguish genuine moral compromise from unfamiliar practice will demand more humility than he initially expects.

Behind the composure is a man grieving people whose deaths occurred centuries before he could learn of them. He can discuss history with careful detachment until a familiar name appears. Then the silence lasts a little longer.

STRENGTHS

  • Conviction - Aricsias possesses a clear sense of purpose. Separation from his own era has deprived him of familiar institutions and relationships, but his commitment to protecting life remains. That commitment gives him direction when the rest of his circumstances offer little certainty.
  • Courtesy and Compassion - He treats people with dignity and listens closely enough to notice when they are struggling to express themselves. His patience can make him an effective interviewer, mediator, and reassuring presence once people look beyond the mask.
  • Decisiveness - He acts promptly when danger becomes clear. His experience on guard duty favors practical priorities: protect the threatened person, interrupt the attack, secure a route to safety, and contain further harm. He can also recognize surrender without letting the momentum of a fight carry him past it.
  • Restraint and Mental Discipline - Provocation seldom draws the response an opponent wants. Aricsias has practiced maintaining concentration under pressure and resisting fear, intimidation, and intrusive influence. His discipline helps him use force proportionately, though fatigue and personal grief can strain it.
  • Vigilance - He notices movement, access points, strained behavior, and small departures from routine. He combines those observations with the Force rather than assuming every uneasy impression constitutes proof. His attention is especially effective in a location he has had time to learn.
  • 6. Trustworthiness - Aricsias keeps his word, accepts accountability, and remains present when duty becomes uncomfortable. Allies can rely on him to stand beside them without requiring admiration or reward.

WEAKNESSES

  • Rigidity - He can mistake familiar procedure for sound judgment. Methods that served his original Order may be impractical in the present, and he sometimes needs evidence—or a costly mistake—before accepting that another approach is appropriate.
  • 2. Emotional Distance - Aricsias can be considerate while revealing almost nothing about himself. Courtesy gives him a reliable language for interaction and an effective shelter from intimacy. People who care about him may struggle to discover what he needs.
  • 3. Excessive Responsibility - He regards failures of protection as deeply personal. This can lead him to resist delegation, remain on duty too long, or attempt to cover more threats than he can reasonably manage. Exhaustion then weakens the vigilance on which he depends.
  • Premature Commitment - The habits that make him effective during an emergency can cause trouble during an investigation or diplomatic dispute. He may act on a convincing first assessment before another person supplies information that changes the situation.
  • Difficulty Accepting Care - Injury and dependence make him uncomfortable. He may minimize pain, conceal distress, or return to duty before recovering. His desire to spare others a burden can deprive them of information necessary to help him.
  • Displacement and Grief - He has substantial gaps in his knowledge of current politics, technology, institutions, and social expectations. Ordinary reminders of his lost life can disrupt his concentration. He also risks idealizing his own era because acknowledging its shortcomings feels like surrendering another piece of home.
  • Worth Measured Through Service - Aricsias struggles to believe that he belongs somewhere when he has no task to perform. He seeks another watch, another assignment, another person to protect. Learning to accept companionship without earning it through service may prove harder than facing an armed enemy.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

FORCE ABILITIES

Physical Applications — Trained

Force Push, Force Pull, telekinesis, enhanced sprinting, and Force-assisted jumping provide his basic movement and intervention tools. Precision deteriorates with fatigue, injury, and competing demands on his attention.

Force Sense — Specialty

Aricsias is particularly attentive to nearby life and disturbances in the Force. A warning can direct his attention without identifying its source. Concealment, crowded environments, and deception can complicate what he perceives; sensing unease does not establish guilt.

Combat Precognition — Practiced

Brief impressions help him anticipate danger and position himself to intercept it. These impressions require interpretation and timely action. They offer no guarantee that he can evade an attack or protect everyone at once.

Force Barrier — Specialty

He favors shielding people from impacts, flying debris, and limited incoming fire. Larger barriers, sustained bombardment, and protecting several directions require greater concentration and rapidly consume his endurance. Maintaining a substantial barrier limits his ability to undertake other complex actions.

Force Stasis — Practiced

He can attempt to interrupt movement long enough to prevent a strike or create an opening for restraint. Strong opponents may resist or break free, and prolonged restraint places increasing demands on him. This ability should be written as an attempt against other player characters.

Tutaminis / Energy Absorption — Limited Training

Aricsias has trained to dissipate or absorb modest amounts of energy under favorable conditions. An isolated blaster bolt is a demanding defensive application. Repeated fire, heavy weapons, and powerful energy attacks can overwhelm him. Absorption is not passive immunity.

Mental Defense — Strong Discipline

Meditation and concentration support resistance to intimidation, intrusive telepathy, and manipulation of his perceptions. Surprise, exhaustion, grief, and skilled opposition can penetrate those defenses. Resistance does not provide automatic knowledge that an influence is present.

Mind Trick — Trained, Used Selectively

Simple suggestions may help calm a confrontation or redirect attention. He considers the ethical implications before influencing another person's choices. Strong-willed or prepared individuals can resist; he cannot treat another character's compliance as assured.

Force Presence Concealment — Working Proficiency

He can quiet his presence when discreet observation is necessary. Doing so requires attention, and conspicuous Force use can compromise the effect. It provides neither physical invisibility nor reliable concealment from every observer.

Basic Healing — Modest

Meditative techniques and limited restorative aid can support recovery or help stabilize minor injuries. Serious trauma still requires medical treatment. He has no established specialization in advanced healing.

Psychometry — Not Yet Established

If selected, contact with an object may produce fragmentary impressions of its history. Such impressions can be incomplete, emotionally overwhelming, or difficult to place in sequence. They offer investigative leads requiring corroboration, rather than a complete reconstruction of events.

LIGHTSABER AND COMBAT TRAINING

  • Soresu — proposed primary form: defensive economy, endurance, and protecting a position or another person.
  • Shii-Cho — proposed supporting form: practical fundamentals, multiple-threat awareness, and control of space.
  • Saberstaff handling — conditional on final weapon choice: distance management and coordinated blade movement. Restricted spaces reduce its advantages and require adaptation.
  • Close-quarters restraint: disarming attempts, grappling, controlled takedowns, and prisoner handling.
  • Protective positioning: escorting vulnerable people, covering withdrawals, and maintaining defensible routes.

PRACTICAL SENTINEL SKILLS

  • Investigation: patient witness interviews, scene observation, timeline comparison, and preservation of evidence.
  • Security assessment: identifying vulnerable entrances, compromised procedures, suspicious access patterns, and evacuation obstacles.
  • Technical competence: locks, surveillance review, access systems, and basic diagnostics. His original training needs updating for contemporary equipment.
  • De-escalation: measured communication, clear instructions, and giving people a viable opportunity to comply.
  • Field first aid: basic stabilization and coordinating further treatment.

HISTORY

THE WATCH — THE HIGH REPUBLIC

Aricsias Renaud served as a Jedi Temple Guard during the High Republic era. As a Sentinel, he developed his command of the Force alongside lightsaber training and practical work. Guard duty rewarded patience, close observation, and judgment: recognizing when an unusual visitor needed assistance, when an access point required attention, and when a threat demanded immediate intervention. The mask and the discipline of the role suited his reserve. They also made it easy to become known chiefly through his duties. He was dependable, punctual, and prepared. Whether anyone understood how much of himself he kept behind that reliability remained another matter.

THE INTERRUPTION — CARBONITE

At some point during his original life, Aricsias was frozen in carbonite. The circumstances, responsible parties, and intended duration remain to be established. He survived in suspension while the galaxy continued without him. The people who could have recognized his voice, understood his habits, or called him by a familiar name were lost to time. Whatever questions surrounded his disappearance remained unanswered when he awakened.

THE AWAKENING — 902 ABY

Released from carbonite into 902 ABY, Aricsias faces a galaxy whose history has become a record of events he never experienced. Familiar names survive in accounts he has yet to read. Institutions have changed. Other Jedi possess hard-earned knowledge he cannot acquire simply by studying a chronology. He approaches his return through what he understands: recovery, assessment, training, and service. Learning current equipment gives him a practical task. Meeting the Jedi of this age demands something less comfortable. He must listen to their experiences before deciding what their choices mean. His instinct is to seek a post and resume the watch. Doing so offers purpose, but it also postpones grief. The more readily he volunteers, the easier it becomes to overlook how little opportunity he has given himself to live outside his duties.

THE FUTURE — A PLACE AMONG THE LIVING

Aricsias has the training to protect a temple and the conviction to serve people beyond its walls. His future will depend on his willingness to learn from them, trust them, and let them stand beside him. The principles he carries can still guide him. The relationships ahead of him will require new choices. For a man accustomed to keeping watch, allowing himself to rest while another person takes his place may be the first difficult act of trust.
