HK-36
The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
Intent: To update and upgrade the canon Ionization Buffers to use them for new walkers as well as for previously made ARGH droids, also create more innuendos for Siobhan.
Development Thread: Discussed in Overkill Is A Myth (Complete), based on canon Ionization Buffers
Manufacturer: Abregado-Rae Guild of Hammers and Firemane
Model: HK's Rod Ionization Buffers
Affiliation: Barony of Abregado-Rae and Kaeshana Confederation
Modularity: Can be mounted into many pieces of equipment, vehicles, or droids. Comes in Plug-N-Play variant and Component variant
Production: Mass
Material: Durasteel main body, Graphite capsule protecting electronics, Electrum wiring
Description: This device is an updated version of ancient Ionization Buffers first developed for the 301-MAX Nightlight droids by Kalibac Industries, the purpose for updating it is that the new walker developed by HK and Sio needed another layer of protection against electronic attacks, as it is expected it will get plenty attention on the battlefield, so it were the ionization buffers offered by Sio, HK agreed it was a swell idea and ordered them to be manufactured by Abregado.
Just like ancient Ionization Buffers they grant immunity to ion based attacks such as ion weaponry or ionization, allowing them to make the droids lighter as less armor plates and insulation is necessary to ward off against ionic based attacks. When installed into a droid, vehicle, or component these buffers can dampen out ionic attacks for indefinite amounts of time as the originals did, due to presence of redundant capacitors and resistors found within the components the buffers are built into, however in their portable variant they can withstand ionic strikes for up to 15 minutes of continued charge running through them or so before burning out.
The portable variant contains a mix of magnetic tractor pad and a vacuum seal, allowing the buffer to be attached to most smooth surfaces, however it works the best on conductive surfaces where it can capture and dampen the charges running through them, otherwise it would dampen only the charges running through the buffer units itself. The only real use for portable versions is making makeshift barricades or shields against ionic attacks on the go, or to protect droids who do not have this feature built-in without actually taking the time to build the buffers into them.
