HK-36

The Iron Lord Protector (Neutral Good)
Intent: To create a small-caliber rounds usable in shatterguns designed to efficiently take down HK-36 and other droids like him who learned how to defend themselves against most common electrical and ionic attacks.
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Abregado-Rae Guild of Hammers
Model: HK-Killer Spike Ammunition
Affiliation: Barony of Abregado-Rae
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel body with Depleted Tungsten Tip and Bronzium Electronics

Description: With the raise of possible droid enemies HK could face in the future, smart droid enemies, like whatever Moira is planning, the infamous Red Queen presumable unleashed somewhere out there, spread of A.I.'s, more sights of singular assassin droids like KA going on rampages, and droid armies like those of the CIS, HK decided to design a weapon that would be effective at taking down droid enemies, even those who have taught themselves how to defend against most electrical and ionic attacks.

The way HK protects himself against common anti-droid weapons is via three methods, his energy shield, his additional armor suit, and his lightsaber.

So,
To counter the energy shields, HK has made the weapon delivered via physical projectile. That way the ammunition skips dedicated energy shields which cannot deflect physical projectiles while the spikes are able to unleash an ionic burst via Tungsten tip upon collision or sudden change in acceleration, giving them possibility of overloading the energy shields are able to deflect them, in single or multiple shots, through ionic damage. After the initial ionic burst through the Tungsten tip, the spikes continue to give out steady electrical damage through their Durasteel body for five more seconds, something they take advantage of when dealing with armor.

Speaking of when the spikes are used against droids wearing armor, HK chose a prolonged shape of a spike, as well as chose Tungsten as the weapon's tip and ordered it to be shaped into a sharp spiral, for improved armor penetration. Tungsten is a dense metal, putting more weight behind the pullet for greater Kinetic Energy it can unleash, and making it more likely to penetrate even thick Durasteel armor, while the spiral shape of the tip ensures maximum precision and that upon impact the spike would act like a high-speed drill, screwing into the surface it meets rather than just punching through. The general shape of the spike makes it aero-dynamic, allowing it to reach higher speeds when propelled. That way, the spikes are able to penetrate the additional outer armor a droid, like HK, could use to protect themselves against ionic or electrical damage, making contact with the droid's body and possibly inner systems as the spike sends out its initial ionic burst and then prolonged steady electronic damage, ensuring that the droid's systems are deactivated if not fried completely.

To counter the lightsaber HK uses the spikes are meant to travel at extremely high speed, and they are a relatively small caliber, as such they were meant to be fired from the Gados shatterguns HK developed, like the RC-1, SR-1, or SP-1, ensuring that they will be propelled at speeds far too high for even droid to fully react to when facing a small, swift-moving target like that.

The biggest disadvantage these spikes face is that they are bigger than the pellets used in Gados shatterguns and they can be fired only as fast as the weapon can be fired, which is pretty lacking all things considered. That means the clips with this ammunition for SR-1 and SP-1 hold maximum of 10 spikes, and 2000 spikes for the RC-1 ammo drums, which is rather low when considered the normal ammunition counts used for these weapons. As such those using the spikes as ammunition can go through them rather quickly, therefore each shot made should be one that counts.

Against organics these projectiles are not as effective, while the increased armor penetration is quite useful, and it can at point blank just fly clean through a light-armored soldier, upon heavily-armored soldiers it can act as more of a stunning weapon, the electro-shocks of the spike acting much like a taser would.

In summary, this is an ammunition mean to be used against the mechanical foes through the Gados shattergun weaponry, trading the far higher efficiency against droids and vehicles for a lower ammunition count.
