During Ar'ekk's training under the Jedi Order in Yutan with Master Tugoro Taidarious, the trials required the Padawan to construct his first lightsaber as part of the journey to become a Jedi.
He was provided with the basic parts that a lightsaber requires for its construction but lacked the most important component which was the crystal so he traveled to Dantooine to hunt Dantari crystals from the eggs of kinrath which eventually allowed him to finalize the construction of his first lightsaber. During this search, the young Padawan felt a peculiar bond with the crystal he picked from one of the kinrath creatures. It felt like the crystal belonged to him and himself only. As the task was done, Ar'ekk returned to Yutan to commence what would become a difficult task.
The construction and manufacturing of the lightsaber took several weeks to complete due to its complexity and lack of knowledge on how to assemble such weapon. The training he had been provided would prove good enough later as he proved he had become a competent student in the Jedi Order. The succesful completion of the lightsaber's construction was one of the first steps to become a fully-fledged Jedi Padawan under the orders of Master Taidarious, who watched the young one's career with much interest.
