Arden is a tall, imposing figure, standing at over six feet in height with a toned frame. His most identifiable feature is his black dreadlocks, which are typically worn down and carefree. Arden also sports a beard which is seldom trimmed. His eyes are a deep brown, save for when stained amber by the influence of the Dark Side. Attire-wise, he gravitates towards simple, non-obstructive clothing.

Arden is a complex and intelligent man, with a darkness veiled beneath a welcoming exterior. Before being betrayed by the Baobab Academy elites, he was a jovial individual, always eager to share a laugh. However, ambition and devotion have since come to the fore. At first glance, he is a charismatic evangelist for the Voice in the Dark. However, his devotion to the Voice is motivated by a quiet fear. He has seen and tasted the power and knows that displeasing his otherworldly patron would result in the loss of everything he has gained. This fear drives Arden to be ruthless and ambitious, willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his current might.

Arden Starstone was born into a working-class family in the Mid Rim. His mother and father were both honest merchants. However, due to the turbulence of the Galaxy, they struggled to consistently make ends meet. Despite this, they raised Arden to be an honest and ambitious child. He grew up dreaming of one day becoming a successful trader to honor his parents.
When he was old enough, Arden's parents used all of their savings to send him to the Baobab Merchant Academy. Here, he excelled in his studies and graduated among the top in his class. After graduation, he spent a few years as an apprentice trader, traveling to various planets under the watchful eyes of a mentor.
After some time, Arden returned to the Baobab Academy to share his experiences with aspiring merchants. Through this visit, he quickly discovered that he had a knack for teaching and changed the course of his career. He joined the faculty at Baobab and quickly became known for his enthusiastic lessons.
During his tenure, Arden began a casual romance with a fellow instructor. While not unheard of among the Academy's personnel, this relationship drew unwanted attention due to the lineage of his interest. Being that she was a member of the Baobab family, Arden's entire being was put to scrutiny. He was quickly found "lesser" and "undeserving" of his lover's affections by a cadre of elites due to his more "common" birth.
Due to this, while Arden was taking a routine test flight with some students, they hired brigands to "deal" with him. His vessel was ambushed by pirates and it was presumed that Arden had been killed in the fighting. In reality, he had been taken captive by the cutthroats and was sold off to slave pits on the far end of the Galaxy. Arden would have been subjected to his fate without knowing who was responsible for his misfortune, were it not for the boasts of his captors along the way.
In the slave pits, Arden was subjected to unimaginable cruelty and torture. He lost everything he had ever known. And, when he was at his absolute lowest, he heard a Voice in the Dark. She offered Arden power, freedom, and salvation - all of which he accepted immediately. By pledging himself, he felt the Dark Side flow through him, enabling him to viciously free himself from the pits. After breaking his way free, Arden escaped into the void.
But this was not the last time he would hear the Voice. Far from it, in fact. As Arden caught his breath, she spoke anew, calling him the First. She tasked him with finding others to introduce to her whispers - and by doing so, promised even greater power for him to enjoy. Arden eagerly embraced this mission and set about his journey across the stars.
