ARDEN PRIEST

BACKGROUND

Arden Priest was born in the deep winter of Kestri, within the mountain-shadowed capital of Tor Valum. His family carried the ancient name "Priest," a legacy from Mandalorians long ago but more recently from a select few who settled Kestri during the Enclave's resurgence. They were a small but proud clan, known as builders, hunters, and guardians. They served in the Si'kahya, an order later reforged into the Verd'kandar.

When Arden was only six, when the Vong struck his family. His family's settlement, located on the West Ridge of Tor Valum, was a part of a mutated Vong incursion. His father, uncles, and elder kin perished defending their home. Only Arden and his mother, Selka Priest, survived, with Selka carrying him through snow-choked ruins into the safety of the capital. From that moment, Arden's life became a living echo of the past: the last son of a fallen house, defined by survival and silence.

Selka, a stern woman with a smith's hands, raised Arden with a clear mission: to endure, to remember, and to perpetuate the Priest name. She found work in the city's forges, repairing armor and crafting usable steel from scrap for the Verd'kandar patrols. Arden grew up amid the ringing of anvils and the chill mountain winds of Kestri, absorbing tales of Clan Priest's sacrifice and observing the Verd'kandar, who moved through the streets like living legends.

By the time he was old enough for his Verd'goten, the Third Vong War raged intensely. Arden was immediately thrust into combat alongside seasoned veterans, battling through blizzards and broken streets, or ambushing Vong patrols. He earned his place as an adult through fierce engagements rather than formal ceremony.

Now in his early twenties, Arden has risen to the respected ranks of the Frost-Cloaked Commandos. He stands as one of the youngest Verd'kandar warriors, yet his devotion and stoic determination are already legendary among his peers. He has never left Kestri, a conscious decision driven by deep conviction. For Arden, his world is a sacred crucible, far more than just a home. He views his role as more than just defending Kestri, it is about actively continuing his people's memory, a relentless hammer stroke ensuring his clan's name will never be lost to the snows.

Arden is young, yet he carries himself with the gravitas of someone twice his age. He's a quiet, disciplined person. When he speaks, his words are precise and purposeful. His serious demeanor is sometimes mistaken for coldness or a lack of humor, but those who truly know him understand it's simply intense focus. He has no time for vanity, nor patience for anything frivolous when survival is on the line.

Beneath that stoic exterior, Arden holds a burning pride in his heritage. He sees every action as a direct reflection of the Priest line and of Mandalorian endurance itself. He deeply values memory, ritual, and the wisdom of old tales. When he sits by a storyfire, he listens with a profound reverence, internalizing every myth as if it were personal instruction for his own life.

Arden tends to form few connections. However, those who earn his loyalty will discover an unyielding ally. A protective streak, born from past loss, runs deep within him. He seldom speaks of it, but his greatest fear is failing those he vows to defend.
