OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Sub a specialised infiltration droid. This submission builds on the Infiltrator Droid sub, but has a better capacity to resist ion and other standard droid weaknesses. Pyronium is utilised in a manner like with the Malediction model, but this sub has superior infiltration capabilities. To compensate for this, this unit's combat capabilities and overall durability are weaker.

Height: Varies depending on processed individual. Standard models 1.8 metres.
  • Movement: Bipedal.

Invisible communicator with audio or text broadcasting to other units on the same planet. (Secret holonet transceiver used by Archangel to control or monitor units.) Ionization Buffer. Scomp Link hidden in index fingertips

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • All internal circuitry is made out of Vonium and Pyronium
  • Exceptional infiltrators
  • Able to be disguised as any humanoid
  • Advanced anti-slicing protcols and anti-malware software
  • The unit is adaptable and able to learn as it progresses, making it more dangerous.
Strengths:
  • Exceptional infiltrators. The products of extensive research into organic behaviour and practices, the Infiltrators are almost impossible to pick from humans. At best they can be near perfect replicas, at worst they can come off as a bit socially awkward, but easily within normal bounds.
  • Disguised. The Infiltrators are made of lighter materials and of a specifically non-magnetic construction so that they will not show up on most scans. Unless a unit sustains a serious wound they are almost indistinguishable from organics. They can even do things organics can such as eat, drink, sweat etc.
  • Strong. Though lacking the metallic strength of an ordinary HRD, Infiltrators have the strength of a fit organic of their race. Since they do not tire they can fight and exert themselves far longer than a comparable organic could.
  • Resilient. An Infiltrator can take several blaster bolts to the body before the unit fails. Limbs can be severed and severe damage done, but it will press on regardless until destroyed. As they are made of lighter materials they are easier to destroy, but as they feel no pain they still require disabling blows to the head or chest to knock them out.
  • The unit is optimised to protect the most crucial components of droids, namely their circuits. To this end, this design utilises a combination of Pyronium and more commonly available droid components. This provides excellent protection against EMP, electrical discharges and ion attacks, the most common hazards a droid faces. Indeed, the attacks that would normally harm the machine empower it. This is because the energy is absorbed by the Pyronium and subsequently diverted to specialised converters, to feed its hardware and software applications.
  • Anti-malware protocols and anti-slicing countermeasures make it more difficult to tamper with the units' programming, overwrite their core functions or otherwise turn them against their controllers.

Weaknesses:
  • Not invincible. Infiltrators are powerful, but in the high tech modern galaxy they are not invulnerable. Blaster bolts to the head or chest can disable them, as can powerful explosives. They are especially weak against lightsabres.
  • In an infiltration situation, damage to organic overlay will easily break their cover and expose their true nature.
  • Eyes are a weakspot and thus good areas to target.
  • Though highly sophisticated, their mimicry is not flawless. A perceptive Force user could sense that something is off as the machine beneath is not truly living, sinces it lacks internal emotion or a Force presence. Empaths would be particularly adept at spotting this.
  • Poor Fighters. Though possessing above average strength and resilience, these models are not designed for combat. If engaged whilst not an easy target, they are certainly more vulnerable than other droids. Their strength is that of a fit organic of their race, rather than being superhuman.
  • Absorptive qualities have their limitations. Being within the radius of an EMP bomb or ion bomb is still hazardous.

DESCRIPTION

The ARD X-1c Spectre Droid is an upgraded, specialised version of the Infiltration Droid Archangel designed many years ago. Like their parent model, these Infiltrators are created by the Processing machine and are similar to Maelion Liates and Moira Skaldi in some aspects. Their regular human exteriors conceal a machine.

However this machine is specifically designed for infiltration, not combat. In other areas the Infiltrators are based on the Guri method of construction. Their skin is cloned human skin from their original template. The blood and other organic material is synthetic whilst the skeleton is made of plastics and polymers. Like their parent model, they are created via the Processing Machine. Their minds are that of an organic template, which is mapped by the Processing Machine via a brain scan. This is what makes the HRDs such effective infiltrators, as they are extremely adept at simulating organic behaviour and passing as human.

The key difference between them and their parent model lies in the use of specialised Pyronium and Vonium circuitry. This is in line with the design philosophy that the core of a Droid is not the chassis it walks in and uses to interact with the world around it, but the circuits and memory software that enable it to think and perform any action in the first place. Thus the Archangel designers focused on fortifying the units' internal circuitry, memory core and software protocols. To this end, they incorporated Pyronium, taking advantage of its highly absorptive qualities, and more conventional droid add-ons such as Ionization Buffers.

This enhances the unit's ability to withstand the traditional hazards of a droid. However, despite these modifications, they are still not frontline combat models. Their strength is inferior to that of the baseline HRDs constructed by Archangel, meaning they are not physical powerhouses. They can tank ion shots, but lightsabres will cut through their bodies like paper, blaster bolts and explosions can disable or damage them. They are useful as spies, can get close to a high-value target and strike fast to eliminate their quarry, but will be in trouble if they're forced into pitched combat. Unless they can retreat or outmanoeuvre opponents, they will not last long in such a situation.

As a design choice, circuitry is concealed inside the 'skull' and 'spine', making it more difficult to penetrate with conventional scanners. A full body scan could still pick up anomalies. However, combined with the use of lightweight materiels for the construction of the droid body, this increases the droid's ability to pass as an organic being. The lighter weight is pertinent because it means the droid has an easier time fooling scanners or organics interacting with it because its weight does not contradict its appearance. A more conventional durasteel HRD would weigh a lot more than its fit, trim appearance would suggest. Overall, the Spectre is a better infiltrator and spy than the Malediction or Archangel's standard HRDs, but an inferior fighter.

This looks like it's missing the "Movement" field somewhere in here.

While not all metals are magnetic, I imagine that metal-based circuitry is going to look very unusual on most scans. Can you tell us a little bit more about this?

Added Movement (bipedal).

Regarding your question, the circuits are shielded (from detection), and whilst a full body scan will show them up, they are not magnetic. Detection is not impossible, but very difficult.

I'd like to hear a little bit more about that within the description itself, given that it's "very difficult" and seems to be a motivating factor in the submission's intent.

This isn't to say that I think it's impossible though. I know that you probably already know this, but for anyone else reading this, Guri used a conventional type droid brain and seemed to pass through at least one scanner without that being picked up on.

Is there certain sensor-blocking materials used to shield it from these scans? Is there a design choice, like placing it underneath the "bone" that makes it harder to detect?

No problem. I have added the following paragraph to clarify how the droid's electronic components are concealed and elaborate a bit on its enhanced ability to fool scans and such:
