DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Beam weapon: Unlike blaster bolts the Dragoon shoots a beam of energy at the target, highly effective
  • Heat: Unlike blasters, Ion cannons, and so on, this beam weapon fires a single beam of energy at the foe, hot enough to melt through durasteel with ease
  • Integrated HUD/Targeting System: This weapon easily mixes into the user's own HUD and targeting systems, making it a part of the user's armory quite easily.

Strengths:
  • Heat Weapon: Since the Dragoon does not use particles like a blaster, it totally bypasses light saber blocking. Its a unique weapon drawing on an updated form of old tech.
  • Cuts through Durasteel like butter: Heatbeams were precursors to blasters and were able to cut through durasteel with ease. The amount of heat this beam puts out is pretty awesome, and is able to chew through heavy armor like bread.
  • Silent: The only sound from this weapon being used is the sound of dead bodies hitting the ground. That makes it ideal for hitting guys you don't want to hear you coming.
  • Minimal kick: A great advantage to this weapon not shooting particles is it really has no kick to speak off, thus its pretty accurate.
Weaknesses
  • Cantankerous: This pistol is pretty hard to repair and requires a dedicated weapons knowledgeable in the exacts of this weapon's specifications to repair it. Its a downfall of using exotic tech.
  • Low ammo capacity: The average blaster uses 50+ shots per clip. This weapon uses a fifth of that, and that's a bit problematic when it comes to prolonged fire fights.
  • Range: Due to the olden nature of this tech, its range is limited. You certainly won't find it laying down heavy fire across the battle field, it works on a person to person range.
  • Heat melts stuff: If shot too quickly this weapon will overheat and the barrel will literally melt and warp on you, the heating coils will melt the casing and the gun will become just slag in/on your hands giving you third degree burns and a lovely trip to the hospital. Autofire attempts here are not your friend, its best used with one-on-one encounters or stealthy stealthy missions.
DESCRIPTION
The Heatbeam was a long forgotten and hardly used weapon in the modern world. It was too heavy, too bulky, and too antiquated really for anyone to consider and not to mention repairing it was something that only specialists would do.

But RMIA is all about taking something unique and making it something amazingly more unique. First things first, the R and D department first started by using an alloy of Blastos that was proven to hold up pretty darn well to heat. These coils heat up to incredible temperatures in a matter of miliseconds as the user pulls the trigger. These heating coils conduct the heat into a beam that is sent down range at the target. The beam lasts for half a second, long enough for it to be seen as a beam and long enough to transfer super hot temperature down range. These temperatures are hot enough to melt durasteel with ease and over time wear down even beskar armor with consecutive shots. Note that really, shooting too many rounds too fast will make the weapon melt on yourself and that is not good at all, mates.

There is no concussive force behind the Dragoon, its all heat. So if the armor your opponent is wearing doesn't melt there will be no transfer of concussive damage for you to put your hopes in. However, metal is a fantastic conductor of heat.

Besides the whole "melting in your hand thing" and the whole "gotta take to an expert to fix it so there's no field repair" thing there is a blaring flaw in the Dragoon--ammo count. Most blasters are 50 shots a round, your average 9 millimeter pistol holds 12 or more rounds per clip, this weapon is 10 shots per battery. So, really, it is a fifth of your average blaster and less than your average slug thrower.

All in all, the Dragoon just a heat gun to make you really feel like a space cowboy in the middle of some great fire fights.
