As with any medicine, there is a small potential for allergies which typically includes hives, itches, and rashes but it may progress to full-blown anaphylactic shock in some patients. Compared to many common medicines side effects, there is an increased chance of fevers and increased respiratory rate as AntiPathoServ jump-starts the body's own immune system. In rare instances, AntiPathoSer might induce low level viral infections with symptoms similar ot the common cold - these symptoms typically disappear after a few days with no needed treatment. AntiPathoSer is cocktail of viruses genetically engineered to target viruses and other pathogens, essentially fighting fire with fire. When AntiPathoSer targets material that is not native to a given lifeform's genetics based on its genetic markers, lack thereof, or if it has already been tagged by the body's own immune system. AntiPathoSer's own viruses do two things - attempt to hijack the virus's own processes to produce more of AntiPathoSer's own viruses and genetically modify the other virus's code. These modifications typically add non-functional coding into the target virus, making them less dangerous to the host and by adding identifying markers of common and relatively benign infections. While this may in turn cause the said infection, it also allows the host's body to mobilize its own long-term immune response against those benign infections and thus turn them into existing assets against the new pathogen for a large, immediate response.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Broad Spectrum Antipathogen: AntiPathoSer uses a cocktail of viruses to be able to quickly mutate and modify any sort of foreign virus or lifeform within the host's body. This strategy is based on preserving what should naturally occur in the body, rather than on stopping a specific known threat. It does not tend to be as effective against a virus or foreign lifeform as a specialized, dedicated medicine.
  • Variable Routes: AntiPathoSer can be absorbed through ingestion of a pill or liquid, intravenous or intramuscular injection, or via topical patch. Each route has its advantages and disadvantages, with routes that are usually easier to administer often taking longer to get the full effect. Topical patches applied directly to an infected wound site (such as from a hypodermic ) will probably have a quicker reaction than an oral dose, though conversely, an oral dose would act quicker against infected foodstuffs. In most instances though, intravenous injections, while the hardest to administer of the routes, is also very fast to act, making it the best suited for quickly freezing the effects of bloodborne pathogens.

WEAKNESSES
  • Allergies: As with many other medicines, there is always the chance of a user experiencing an allergic reaction to AntiPathoSer.
  • Trading the Pot for the Frying Pan: While AntiPathoSer may remove and make a pathogen less dangerous, there's a chance that the user might simply end up with a lesser, though still obnoxious infection of a more common and lesser variety.
  • Reduced Immune Response: As AntiPathoSer makes the original intruding virus or lifeform more indistinct by modifying it, a subsequent attack by that same intruder may draw a weaker and more indiscriminate immune response to that intruder if exposed to that pathogen again later on in life.
DESCRIPTION
AntiPathoSer is Lucerne Biological System's anti-viral drug that ironically itself is primarily composed of other viruses. By using viruses that are specifically designed to attack other viruses and other foreign lifeforms in a host, AntiPathoSer decreases the malign effects of the intruding virus or lifeform by mutating the intruder into a variety of lesser threats and by harnessing the host's existing long-term immune resources designed for use against other common infections. This means that while AntiPathoSer oftentimes doesn't outright defeat the intruder by itself, its modifications to the intruder ensure that the user will survive the infection long enough for the body's immune system to fully mobilize and destroy the intruder. While it doesn't have the efficacy of drugs tailored to fight against specific infections, AntiPathoSer's ability to fight almost any sort of infection makes it invaluable in small medpacs and personal armor auto-injection systems.
