Suggestion Another unpopular suggestion

This is just spitballing and a little hard to really put into words without pictures, so please bear with me here:
What if, rather than continuing to operate on a static win/loss result for invasions, or basing it on something as nebulous as post counts, we try to incorporate how our factions (being as obsessed as they are with dominions) are represented on the map to increase or decrease the scope of invasions. I'm basing this off of the ability of a major faction to invade a hex they do not border (aside from capital hexes) to turn them neutral, and the requirement to border a capital hex to invade it successfully.
  • The more you surround a chunk of a defending major faction's cloud, the more territory that can potentially be obtained by a victory with a few caveats.
  • The maximum of hexes obtained is 4, as there are 4 criteria for invasion wins, and the minimum is 0 if no hexes are bordering.
  • An attacking major faction's influence cloud needs to 'wrap' around the defending faction's cloud to net further than 1 hex (not including mandates which allow otherwise)
  • Invasions gained in this way still need to target an initial hex, but all hexes involved need to be included in the invasion thread (like the 2 hexes in Contagious Assault, as an example).
  • The amount of hexes a victorious attacker obtains is dependent on how many invasion criteria fields they met to secure their victory, with 1 being the basic 1 hex, and 4 being 3 total hexes obtained (contagious assault would grant a further additional one, making it 4); the hexes obtained start with the initial target and additional hexes are those which most closely neighbor the target hex.
  • The defending faction keeping the invading faction from securing further hexes (i,e; in a 1 condition win) is rationalized by a treaty to set the new borders in order to stop the attacking faction's advance, or some other in-character narrative agreed upon by the two factions.

I will be using the map as a way to show visual examples, this isn't intended to be seen as a pro/anti-X faction suggestion, and in the interest of that I'll use my own faction's cloud and a hypothetical TSE loss as an example:

Let's pretend, in the above, that NIO has Kynachi, and they're launching an invasion of TSE space at Yaga Minor.

As noted, we'll presume a NIO victory over Yaga Minor/Prefsbelt IV:
  1. The invasion thread incorporated Huk, Tovarski, and Yaga Minor's hexes.
  2. NIO won Story and Tension, and drew on Participation, and Drama. So as they won with 1 additional criteria met than the base (1 criteria in a total draw is necessary for the invading faction to win), NIO gets a second hex out of this; in this case Huk.
  3. In-universe the TSE and NIO have either signed a treaty to halt the advance and admit defeat with those two hexes, or TSE was able to prevent further incursion into their territory from the actions depicted in the thread.
  4. The same amount of hypothetical posts/words are made to the invasion, but the risk is greater because NIO invested itself in building up around a section of the opposition's space.

I want to note that this suggestion was made with the removal of dominion limits in mind. I will hope that some combination of this and Ronan Vizsla Ronan Vizsla 's suggestion go through to get voted on by admins, here's some quick pros and cons I see off the bat in this:
  • Factions may need to gear dominions towards their invasion plans during war time, rather than buffering themselves from vulnerable points. (-)
  • You can theoretically capture more territory in a month by invading if the full potential of this suggestion is met (+)
  • Wars between factions may end sooner and/or allow for breathing space for non-invasion/dominion threads to be sprinkled in between (+/-)
