Another Day On The Streets

Evania was sprinting down the street when she ran into him. She had just managed to swipe a small bag of credits from one of the gang members on Nar Shadda. The idiot was too drunk to notice her taking the small sack beside his foot. When he finally noticed the bag sitting beside him on the ground was gone he had come running after her, but the little girl was faster. She ducked into a near by cantina and slipped on a puddle of unidentified liquid by the door. The girl tumbled over, landing at the feet of a strange man with a scythe. [member="Solan Charr"]

Solan looked down at the girl with red hair, his head turning to the side as the dark blue eyes turned to look at the bag of credits instead. His eyes were amber colored in truth but he hated their corrupted state and hid it behind a illusion he kept up at almost all times. With a slow motion his body dropped down on one knee and grabbed at the credit bag before looking at the girl with a raised brow before smiling and reaching out to give it to her. "Drop something?" His smile was wide and soft, though by a wink he gave her it was clear he knew the credits weren't hers.

Evania nodded and took the bag. She had a terrified look on her face as she stared up at him. The scythe on his back made him extremely menacing from the girl's point of view. She slowly got back on to her feet and ran. Her feet carried her to the abandoned warehouse she called home. The place was also home to a very spice and deathstick addicts, but they never bother her. This was because the young girl stayed on the upper floors of the warehouse. She reached them using a very old, decrepit flight of stairs. Most of them were beginning to crumble and Evania was the only resident of the warehouse that was light enough and brave enough to climb them. She raced up the stairs, not even wincing as yet another step crumbled as soon as she reached the one above it. [member="Solan Charr"]

He watched her dash off and lookign over his shoulder he sighed as he saw the scythe on his back. For once, the fear it inspired was unintentional but it was something that now carried him to his feet before he started after her. Tracking her was much easier than the men before him had thought, infact it was because of this that he was able to find his prey during his time as a mercenary. Good times back then and now this girl sparked something in him that bordered on interest as he pushed through the alley and saw a stair crumble that led up into a warehouse. Too much effort to run through the actual warehouse and up some internal way so instead he generated the force under him, holding it there until it shot him up like a spring and nimbly his feet came to rest on the top platform. Groaning under him he stepped off it and into the upper grounds of the warehouse, looking for the girl.

Evania was currently backed into a corner. The warehouse had recently gotten a new, dangerous tenant. An insane spice addict had found another way to get onto the floor Evania called her 'home' and was stalking across the open room towards her, a knife in hand. The addict was a prison escapee who had been known for murdering little girls. The poor redhead was terrified. She whimpered softly and closed her eyes. Suddenly, a crate in front of her burst into flames. The fire quickly spread towards the serial killer, but it was clearly out of control. If something wasn't done soon, the entire warehouse would go up in flames. [member="Solan Charr"]

First thing that was done, wasn't the end of the fire but a sudden growth in it as Solan's amber eyes shown through the illusion. His hands were outstretched and letting the flames move in a barrier between the girl and the man, no further and under complete control. Then as he turned on him solan's other hand reached back and grabbed onto the scythe. What he did though was not bisect this man, or cut his head off. No he took the blade at the bottom of the scythe and ran the man through without a second though. Like that then he snapped his fingers, ending the flames and leaving instead a wounded man on the ground who he recognized. He wouldn't kill him though... the girl needed to be brought away from here. So instead he tagged him with a Homing beacon that would alert the Red Raven enforcers of this man's escape and moved over to the girl, his eyes dark blue again as he spoke in a soft voice. "Its ok... im here to help you. Take my hand."

Evania whimpered and shrank away from him. Her fear resulted in the hem of her own dress catching on fire. It was a small flame and she immediately used her hand to put it out, crushing the small, candle-like flame in her hand, resulting in a nasty burn. She looked up at Solan with wide eyes, absolutely terrified, but he had defended her, maybe he wasn't that scary after all. The scared little girl reached out with her uninjured hand and took his. As she moved, a necklace came into view, sliding out of the top of her dress. It was made of cortosis with a small sapphire in the very center of an intricate flower shaped pendant. He was caught in an entranced state as he looked at the necklace and shook his head as fast as he could. He would have to ask her later as he more than saw the burn. "Come on, you need to see a doctor about the burn. And don't worry, ill pay for it." He would hold onto her hand and started to walk over to the edge of how he had gotten up to the warehouse floor. With a smile he turned and brought himself down to one knee as he spoke still in the same soft voice. "Do you trust me to get you down from here?"

Evania glanced nervously at the stairs.

"I'll just go down the way I normally do," she replied, and without even giving him a chance to stop her, she walked to a section where the wall of the warehouse had fallen away. She carefully lowered herself over the edge, ignoring the pain in her hand. The stairs were good for getting up, but the top few steps were missing so she had to jump and catch the wall to get up. She had found a spot where she could climb the wall in order to get back down. She found a gap in the wall that she could jam her foot into and slowly began the long climb down. She reached the bottom and glanced around for Solan. Her hand was bleeding heavily at this point it was starting to worry her. [member="Solan Charr"]

He was already down there, having simply jumped to the ground and slowed himself with the force. But what caught his eye instead of her face, hair or body was the blood on her hand that was more than noticeable. "What happened.. here." He bent down, his hands tearing from his cloak without second thought and taking the hand. Slowly he would begin to wrap her hand in the swath of cloth, his eyes tracing the damage and it was clear he was genuinely worried for her. "Ok... lets get you to a doctor. Do you know where there is one?"

"It's from the burn... Climbing down must have made it worse," Evania explained as he wrapped it. She glanced down at the ground and tried to think of where a doctor was. "I think there was a doctor near that new cantina."

Evania remembered walking past it a few times when she was out searching for food and credits to steal. The Chiss lady who owned the cantina saw her outside once and actually fed her. She said something about knowing what it's like to have to fend for yourself and that no matter what Evania shouldn't join any of the gangs. [member="Solan Charr"]

"I know the place... come on." He took the girls hand and led her through the alleys and into the streets as he talked to her. "By the way, your necklace... where did you get that if i might ask. Its something that is familiar to me." He said, his eyes focused on tracking down the path to the cantina though and looking for Talani's place so that they could get to the doctor that was mentioned. Talk about more than a stroke of luck in meeting Talani, certainly worth the effort in everything that had happened that day as she was a weird one that chiss.

"My mother gave it to me... Right before she died. She was sick alot... Coughed up blood all the time, then one day she just... stopped breathing. I was nine then," Evania explained, her uninjured hand reaching up to curl around the necklace. A single tear slid down her cheek, but she didn't begin sobbing. She seemed so detached from everything, like she was merely telling a story, like none of it had actually happened to her. Fear was the only emotion she ever expressed, aside from that the girl appeared stoic. [member="Solan Charr"]

He looked at her and sighed as he started walk. He knew who she meant which raised a tinge of sadness in him but he had to get this girl to a doctor to get that wound cleaned and worked on. "I see... Im sure your mother was a great woman, beautiful too." Of all things to hear today, he was helping the child of a girl he had met long ago, someone he thought he would see again some time in the future and apologize too for not coming back. But it seemed like that would not happen now as his eyes focused in on the ground.

"She said my father gave her this necklace, and that I should keep it with me at all times. I remember I asked her where he was once, and she just smiled sadly and said she didn't know. Sometimes I wonder why he didn't stay with us... I mean... Doesn't he love us?" Evania seemed to be talking more to herself than to Solan by the end of her little explanation. Still she spoke without a hint of sadness, or even anger. She was emotionless. [member="Solan Charr"]

He almost stopped then in there, trying to think of what to say and he only spoke to her with his eyes focused on finding the building they were looking for. "Yes... im sure he loved her, and would love you... Im sure he just got trapped in his life, never had the chance to get out of it and escape... But yes... im sure he loved her and now you." He curled up his other hand tight that wasn't holding hers, holding back anything that would tip her off on how he felt and who he was. He remembered the day he had give this girls mother that necklace and right now he kicked himself in the gut for abandoning her.

Evania sensed the tension in his voice and glanced over at him. He seemed upset, and the clenched fist proved that, but why? It wasn't his fault that her father had abandoned her mother. He had no reason to be angry. The little girl was confused by his every action so far. He seemed to care about her, enough so that he would take her to have her hand healed.

"Did you know my mother?" she asked, remembering his comment about the necklace being familiar. Before she had gotten sick her mother had been a dancer in a cantina. [member="Solan Charr"]

"I did... and im sorry..." He didn't finish as the building came up and some tension left him as he pushed through the door and looked around till he saw a desk with patients waiting. His voice sounded and after a choked up attempt at speaking the words left him and he looked at the woman at the desk with a worry to it. "Is there someone that can help this girl's hand, ill be paying for it i just need to know..." He was going to make up for what he now suspected was caused by him to put this girl in her position. He didn't want to see her suffer at all and would do anything to help her now of all times.

The receptionist saw the blood stained cloth covering the girls hand and nodded. She handed Solan a datapad and told her to fill out the form that was open on it.

"If you'd please take a seat and fill that out. Someone will be with you shortly after you return the form," the woman explained, gesturing to the small waiting area. Evania was already seated in one of the chairs, staring blankly at the wall. She didn't even seem bothered by the wound. Her exposed arms and legs were covered in scars, some old and some fresh. Beneath the ragged dress she wore there was likely a lot more injuries. Her dress looked like it might have been blue once, but now it was so tattered and stained it was hard to tell. He looked at her and sighed as he started to fill out the information. He had to find some way in which he could fix all of this. There had to be something, somewhere that could help him fix and correct what had happened but all he could do now was fill out the form. "How old are you..." He looked at the young girl, his eyes filled with concern that he couldn't stop as he looked at the cloth again. He couldn't help but feel useless in that moment, unable to heal her even if he had tried because of his connection to the darkside now. He hated this damned corruption sometimes.
