I think they're fine! I'm more fond of animated avatars like these (all mine) where the effect is more subtle, but that's just preference. The more animated ones like what you've shared above are distracting to me when I scroll.
Starmaker's Gambit
They're a little trippy in the "these static images are suddenly coming alive" sense. Reminds me of ads in cyberpunk sci-fi. Not my style, but it's another way to push the boundaries of aesthetics which is neat.
