*WHERE
Demonsgate (planet)
Type: Terrestrial
Temperature: Hot
Atmosphere: Type I (breathable)
Hydrosphere: Arid
Gravity: Standard
Terrain: Volcanic plains
Length of Day: 31 standard hours Length of Year. 224 local days
Capsule: Contrary to its appearance. this planet possesses a temperate biosphere full of life. The ionized particles that orbit it bleed off into space, throwing off radiation across the spectrum, the visible portion of which falls primarily into the red. orange, and yellow wavelengths. making the debris attracted from the surrounding Rift simulate furious, writhing flames; hence, the planet's nickname: "Demonsgate”. In general, the planet has little surface water; the bulk of Demonsgate's water supply can be found beneath the surface of the planet. Many creatures thrive in that environment, however; an abundance of life forms burrow through the rock strata to the water underneath.
In addition. the planet suffers from extremely violent geologic upheaval. Volcanoes and underground lava floes strike the massive subterranean lakes and rivers, causing massive steam geysers to blast through to the surface.
*WHEN
In orbit above Demonsgate aboard the Nade Gitt
Demonsgate flared below through the air lock window BB was gazing out of. He hadn’t slept well in weeks, his dreams filled with the screams of those he had tended to and the ghosts of those who he wasn’t able to save. When he was a boy on Taris he only needed to live for himself. If danger was near he could simply run or hide from it. This was not the case anyone, he had a rank and a responsibility to his new compatriots. He was needed, and the wishes of a fifteen year old boy were light years away from the duties of the seventeen year old young man he had become. The “Hero” kid who had found a cure to the plague was needed.
Hero, BB thought. He had become a minor celebrity on the world, but in truth he had merely been lucky. Had he not been half Tarisian then the antibodies he had used to create the vaccine wouldn’t have been present in his blood. He too would have become Death Fiend and joined in the chaos they had wrought instead of now assisting in wiping them from existence.
Calming his mind, BB eased back onto the chair he had taken to sitting in. The Uukaabian has been kind to the people of Demonsgate. This ship newly in orbit was proof enough of that. BB knew their kindness was most likely born of guilt as it was their research center that may have been used to create the plague, but to him it didn’t matter. They were here to help in a time when it was sorely needed and that is what counts to him.
As he relaxed further into the chair he wished he could sleep. He had even tried to while the Starr was being loaded for another trip to the surface, but the General needed him. Fresh relief was on its’ way and he was to meet them here and escort them to the planet. So he waited like a good soldier, looking out the window upon the planet below in between chapters of the Uukaabian text book he was studying, desperate for a little rest.
