PERSONALITY & BELIEFS

Anet Raine sits on a high horse, saturated in her belief that the only thing that separates 'people' from 'creatures' is an understanding and awareness of natural law. She has found inspiration in her examinations of the Old Sith Empire and ancient Sith culture, reflected in her philosophy of 'Sith Naturalism.' That conflict and passion are as natural as evolution, growth, and death. To deny conflict, to deny the passions that fuel our power, is to deny the universe itself.

This certainty in her beliefs has drawn ire and dispute from her peers, some of whom branded her as a 'narrow-minded occultist' rather than a scholar. This controversy has made it difficult for the University to fund or acknowledge her endeavors. Such setbacks have only proven to frustrate rather than discourage the Sith historian, who has pushed herself further into the fringes of her work both out of spite and an obsession to uncover novel proof for her theories.

Indeed, Ms. Raine is difficult to deter - hellbent and passionate in all things.

SKILLS & TRAITS

Historian:
Anet is a scholar of history whose studies have exhaustively covered major and niche events from the beginning of the Manderon Period until the end of the Old Sith Wars, with a focus on Sith and Dark Side cults. More recently, she has taken on archaeology, seeking old, forgotten cultures of both Sith and other origins.

Sith Acolyte: Through her academic career, Ms. Raine has spent a lot of time among Sith and Dark Side ruins, even studying - and occasionally secreting away - dark artifacts. As a Force-sensitive, Anet has been unable and unwilling to shield herself from the corrupting influences, and has grown attracted towards ancient Sith power in particular.

Farflung: With many of the familiar and infamous Sith worlds and archaeological sites accounted for, the ambitious Anet has sought out remote and unfamiliar worlds, relying on her own wit and resourcefulness to make a career as a pioneering scholar.

Moody: Driven by her passions, Anet Raine is prone to sudden shifts in her mood and intensity - having a drastic effect on her impulses, too. This recklessness has proven both a benefit and a bane, and is a behavior she would not soon change.

Righteous: Anet's heart is poisoned by an arrogance she would describe as her 'righteousness' and is quick and rigid in her judgments. She is unlikely to change her beliefs and values without much embarrassment or hard lessons.

HISTORY

Anet was born on Belazura into the affluent Raine family, who have produced a menage of artists, scholars, and scientists over the decades. The young Anet was discovered as force-sensitive at an early age; however, her parents refused the Jedi Order their pupil, and instead pushed their daughter towards a life of academic excellence. History became her greater focus, and she was accepted as a full-time resident researcher at Shey Tapani University.

To separate herself from her peers, Anet elected to study subject matters she felt were untouched or avoided due to controversy. At first, this was a simple move to 'get ahead' of the competition and secure tenureship. Specifically, the study of the Sith and Dark Side cults, where she was eventually corrupted by years spent scouring tainted ruins and uncovering dark side artifacts. Her drive to become closer to these dark sources would eventually form a wedge between her and her peers, who noticed and feared the woman's increasingly erratic nature.

Despite threats from senior academics, her family made certain that she would remain a resident at the university. To avoid further ire and become closer to her work, Anet elected to travel to more remote regions of the galaxy and spend much of her time away from the 'civilized' parts, where her future now unfolds.
