ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Talaria System
HIMS
Silver Shield/Shroud (approval)
Freyja Communications System
Gravity Well Projector
LK O.N.N.
Padlocke

Strengths:

 • Tank: For such a little ship the Andarta can take a lot of damage thanks to the Phalanx Testudo and the Phrik hull of the ship.

 • Silver Shroud: the combined cloak and planetary shield combo of the Silver Shroud give the ships an almost unmatched versatility in combat. They could hide a ship, or protect it as the situation called for.

 • Talaria: The modern battlefield is replete with gravity well projectors which can hold ships from jumping to hyperspace, or pull them out of space short of their target. This is doubly bad for a support cruiser that is incapable of standing by itself, that is designed to support larger capital ships. Locke and Key’s Talaria system allows the Andarta’s to avoid the effects of gravity well projectors, or even a systems gravity to an extent, allowing them to jump deeper into gravity wells.

 • Daikoku: The signature technology of the Daikoku cannon allows the the Andarta to strip shields away from enemy ships, or boost the shields of their allies, the key the the Andarta’s utility.

 • Fast and Mobile: Built to dance in and out of fights as needed, avoiding combat and attacks the ships are fast and nimble for their size.

 • Gravity Well Projector
Weaknesses:

 • Not a scratch: The Andarta Support Cruiser has a very limited weapons suite, with not a single weapon actually capable of damaging an enemy ship. The weapons they do have are built around disabled shields and neutralising the ships they are engaging.

 • Silver Shroud: The Silver Shroud is incredibly power intensive, and utilising it has the side effect of draining power from all other systems of the ship, rendering it unable to move, or use any other systems until the Shroud is shut down.

 • Highly Automated: Like many Locke and Key Mechanics creations the Andarta Cruisers are highly automated, relying on droids and the automation provided by the decentralised processing of the LK O.N.N. means that the ship is vulnerable when dealing with damage or boarding parties, not carrying enough personnel to fight the ship and deal with major disasters.
Description:

The first combat style ship produced by Locke and Key Mechanics under their new combat fleet doctrine. The ship was not designed as a frontline combatant, but rather was designed by John Locke as a utility tool, with the speed and survivability to survive in a fleet engagement while providing support to the rest of the fleet. By offsetting technology such as the Gravity Well Projector that proved to be a necessity in the modern battlefield to the ship freed up space and capability on the other ships in the pipeline.

The central function of the Andarta was built around Locke and Key Mechanic’s signature Daikoku cannons, allowing them to boost allies shields while stripping shields from enemy ships. On top of this John added the Silver Shroud, a shield/cloak combo that allowed the Andarta to have a viable impact on this long ranged fights well outside of the reach of its weapons.

That is not to say that the Andarta doesn’t have a role outside of supporting larger capital ships, it’s shield leech technology, coupled with its ability to slow and disable ships makes it a perfect choice for chasing down fleeing ships, whether blockade runners or pirates.

The Andarta was a solid step on Locke and Key’s philosophy of building specialised ships to fulfil targeted roles within the naval arena.
