Ashlan-crusade-spec-features.png

  • The claymore is most similar to the Sith Swords or Force Imbued weapons in very many ways, as they were made with Force Alchemy. As a result, they have several different abilities. Just the claymore has a Light Side presence in the Force, not Dark or Neutral.
  • Thanks to the Force Alchemy and the Songsteel material, the swords withstand the blows of lightsabers, the blade is able to bounce the blaster projectile back like a lightsaber.
  • The blades are extremely sharp and can cut through many materials with relative ease, the same materials as lightsabers. The blade probably does not lose its sharpness.
  • It is a unique weapon, it has been made individually by Laoise, which is perfectly balanced and a true masterpiece. During the making process, the woman's soul was imbued with the weapon, making it essentially a semi-sentient claymore.
  • The sword can ground the Lightside or Darkside Force lightning or simple lightning.
  • The only actual Force-based ability of the weapon is that Force Light radiates from the weapon and a continuous faint golden glow surrounds the blade thereby. However, the effect of this is limited to the area around the blade and user, to a sphere of about one meter. This does not require concentration. Whoever wields the sword will retain this ability.
  • The claymore is not for everyone to use, as mentioned above, Laoise's soul has merged with the sword so that she can protect her family and bloodline in the future. It is for this reason that the imprint of her soul can sense who is in her bloodline, and also what side she is on in the Force. In this respect, she can accept or reject the user. If she accepts the user, then the user, who is in any case a Barran by blood and a descendant of the woman, will be able to use Force-imbuement abilities. If the woman does not accept the person, or the person is not a blood relative, or possibly a blood relative but a Darksider, then the sword will likewise not accept the person.
    • The sword (the soul actually) will only consider blood descendants worthy if they are not Darksiders, in which case the sword's weight will be extremely light.
    • The sword doesn't recognize anyone else as worthy, and even the Darksider Barran are considered unworthy (though that may change if they get back on track), and for them the weapon will be incredibly, extremely heavy, almost impossible to wield.
  • Laoise endowed the spear with several abilities with Force-imbuement, sorcery and alchemy. The following abilities can be used through the spear, or to amplify the abilities the owner knows NB: Only one ability can be used at once, because nearly all of them requires concentration:
    • Force Light: The area around the blade begins to glow in Force Light, with minimal concentration, all of which is just tiny light that works in close proximity, but if The user focuses all their attention on concentration, the user can cover a circle / sphere with a radius of up to fifty metres. However, if the user focuses and concentrates on this, the user will be completely unprotected because you can do nothing but maintain the Force ability. And the farther the light is from the centre, the weaker it is, so it may not even hurt the Darkside Force users at the edge of range.
    • Protection Bubble: the user is able to create a defensive field around themselves and its immediate surroundings, with which it can defend against physical and Force attacks. It requires constant concentration from them to be able to maintain it.
    • Force Barrier: This is a larger area of defence, able to create a defence field around their or in a larger area, with which it can defend against physical and Force attacks. It requires constant concentration to be able to maintain it. Depending on the strength and power of the attack, sustainability is reduced and can be very exhausting.
    • Battle Meditation: It requires constant concentration, while The user can’t defend themselves. The effects of Force ability are the same as in the traditional case, but a spear helps make the concentration less stressful, and a weapon makes it easier to reach the effect farther than it would in the original case.
    • Revitalize: It also requires concentration, the ability to use the same, for theirself or those around their, who are tired exhausted, wounded or, unconscious they will be revitalize.
    • Force Harmony: With the help of the spear, the user is able to perform this Force ability on their own, which also requires constant concentration, meaning the woman cannot defend themselves. The effects are the same as normal, protecting others from the Dark Side effect and attack by embracing them with Light Side, or being able to separate and cleanse the Dark Side Force users from Dark Side. NB: For PCs / NPCs this requires the consent of the user.
    • Force Blast: One of the three is an ability that doesn’t require constant concentration, but the effect only lasts for a few moments. The user is able to direct the neutral or near-Light side Force blast into the blade of the weapon and use it through it and not start the attack from their hand. To do this, however, you must be in physical contact with the spear.
    • Force Bliding: The other non-continuous but offensive ability. After a short concentration, a strong light emanates from the spear and The user, which can blind anyone who is nearby and watching them. Of course, against opponents in helmets is probably ineffective, but against other attackers, like a defensive trick is not bad.
    • Force Push: It has a usual telekinetic effect, to do this the user has to hit the grip of the weapon to the ground, to concentrate on this effect, in this case a strong Force Push effect created can push those are in nearby (around in a circle / sphere with a radius of about ten metres). The effect is naturally weakened out of the centre, i.e. the farther the effect is from the centre, the weaker it is
  • In addition, a soul in a claymore can act like a Gatekeeper in a holocron. This trait cannot be used in combat because it requires deep meditation. If the owner/user of the sword meditates properly, they can contact Laoise's soul and be able to talk to her. The soul can share images/visions from her own past and the sword's past. Or even talk to the other during the meditation.

  • Family Heirloom: The claymore is a beautiful masterpiece, masterfully made. The weapon is well balanced and thanks to the material it is very light. The Force Alchemy makes it very durable and keeps the blade always sharp.
  • Semi-Sentient: During the forging process, Laoise's soul, or soul imprint, was also incorporated into the sword, making it essentially a semi-sentient sword. Laoise's soul imprint can sense whether or not the person who wants to use the weapon is a descendant of her, and also what the Force-alignment of the user is, if the person is Force-sensitive. If the sword senses that the user is worthy, it will protect the user from Dark Side forces, or the user will be able to use the Force techniques that the weapon has been imbued with.
  • Holy Aura: The runes on the sword, the Force alchemy, and Laoise's soul were all Lightsiders, so the sword is constantly surrounded by a Light Side aura.
  • Valkyrja Blade: Although it is a Light Side blade, it can drain Force Lightning just as well as the Sith swords. It also has the ability to block physical projectiles with its surface and knock back laser projectiles.
  • Deamhan Killer: The blade is particularly effective against Darksider creatures, and can also wound Netherworld creatures or creatures without physical bodies.
  • Family Protection: The blade was made to protect Clan Barran, so it cannot be used to kill their own blood relatives. The sword is incapable of killing a cousin or mortally wounding a Barran.
Ashlan-crusade-weakness.png

  • Distance: The length of the blade is limited, so it can only be used in melee range. In distance combat it is not really effective, at most once, but then after dropping the weapon the user will be unarmed.
  • Archaic: An archaic blade that has no modern technological improvements, no vibro-generator, etc. And the claymore needs to be maintained in an archaic way.
  • Bounded: Bounded to the descendants of Arriochus and Laoise. It only shows its power and aids those who are part of the bloodline. So the sword is only an excellent sword in the hands of those who are not blood descendants of the founder of Clan Barran.
  • Ashlanic Soul: The soul imprint in the sword is able to sense what Force-alignment the person wielding the sword has, sensed through the aura. Even if it's a Barran, but a Darksider, the sword will not have any advantage, it will just be a sword. Every Barran has to earn its use.
  • Dark Side: The blade is imbued with Light Side, so it can be physically painful for a Darksider to use it.
  • Without Force: Under Force suppression of the Soul and Force ability, advantages are weakened, and under full nullification, the weapon becomes only a masterwork sword.
  • Family Protection: The blade was made to protect Clan Barran, so it cannot be used to kill their own blood relatives. The sword is incapable of killing a cousin or mortally wounding a Barran.
Ashlan-crusade-description.png

On Galidraan III there is a legend about how Clan Barran came into being from the former Clan Mabbardin. It is not known how much of this is true, or how much is fable, but this legend is tied to this sword. The story goes that a group of strange creatures appeared out of nowhere on Galidraan III, who didn't even seem to be of this world, nor literally alive, nor even out of place. For a long time, this group didn't even mix with the people of the planet, but eventually they got hooked and more and more interactions developed between the locals and the group, who were actually a group of Valkyrs and Children of Ashla who had been transported into the past.

Among the strangers was a woman who took a particular interest in the locals, and after a while she took a local name for herself, Laoise Cadhla. Her real name is not known, it is the only one that survives in the tales. She had met the young leader of Clan Mabbardin, who had just inherited the leadership of his clan. As the group spent more and more years on the planet, the locals began to realise that these people, or rather beings, were not living, but had come from the Netherworld. It was then that the people of Galidraan actually began to shun them and less and less contact was maintained between the locals and the group. Of course, there were those who ignored this ban and continued to maintain good relations with the aliens.

This was also true for the young leader of Clan Mabbardin, who spent a lot of time with Laoise Cadhla. Since it is a legend, it is not hard to guess that the young man and the angel-winged woman fell in love and married, despite all the prohibitions, and that she took the name Laoise Cadhla Mabbardin and this name survived in the legends. The woman was a Children of Ashla, meaning she had once lived and her soul had been moulded into the being she was now. A desire grew in her heart to be mortal again, to give her husband a child, for she knew she had no chance of that. However, it seemed that time travel made it possible, for she became pregnant and gave birth to a son for her husband.

In the Valkyrja and Children of Ashla's domain the child would have been legitimate, probably everywhere else, but here on Galidraan III the other clans didn't recognise the Force sensitive and probably Force user son as an heir, he was just a bastard in their eyes. When the boy was still made heir by his father, a clan war broke out, they wanted to kill the child and destroy the Mabbardin clan. Laoise was a great warrior, but her companions would not allow her to interfere in the fighting, even as she was protecting her husband and child. So all she could do was forge a weapon for her husband to fight with and protect their clan.

However, the woman did not have time to finish the blade, and her husband was killed. The woman was devastated, even though she knew she would outlive her husband by hundreds of years or more, but she had not expected to lose him so soon, so quickly. Laoise had lost her will to exist, and the fact that she had to look after her son was not keeping her alive. Her husband's soul was lost, not to be found on Galidraan or in the Netherworld. But she wanted to protect her child and his future descendants.

Laoise continued to make the sword and with each stroke, with each rune she picked up, she lost a piece of her soul that had gone into the sword. By the time the sword was finished, Laoise Cadhla Mabbardin had ceased to exist, as had her husband. However, a part of her soul, a large part of her soul, lived on in the sword, so that she could watch over her child and his descendants through the weapon. The woman's companions hid the child and the weapon, secretly raising and educating the boy so that one day he could return and begin to go his own way…

The rest is history, Clan Barran has been around ever since, but the sword was lost centuries earlier, buried with one of the clan leaders. In 902 ABY, however, Eina L'lerim-Vandiir Eina L'lerim-Vandiir found the sword and returned it to Michael Barran Michael Barran , who was entitled to it. Whether or not the sword will find its new owner worthy and reveal all its secrets remains a mystery for the future.
