Strengths:

 • Droid Crew: The ship is built to carry and be operated by droids, which gives it several advantages over organic-run ships. As a result, its life support systems can be limited to only areas of the ship where organic guests are or plan to be, which allows for significant power to be diverted elsewhere, such as engines or shields. This also gives it an advantage when facing organic boarding parties, as those unequipped with suits to provide personal life support can be caught off-guard by the lack of it in addition to the anti-boarding garrison.

 • Electronic Warfare: With a Loki E-War system on board the ship excels at waging electronic warfare on enemies, including but not limited to powerful jamming abilities, electronic disruption for incoming attacks, decrypting enemy communications, and tracking enemy jamming systems.

 • Broadside Barrage: The Shadowclaw possesses a large amount of close-range deck cannons that combine heavy projectiles with lethal ionization, providing a deadly barrage for overconfident ships that get too close. To aid in this the port and starboard sides are fitted with multiple heavy tractor beam projectors to hold enemy ships in place while the batteries fire.

 • Anti-Fighter: The Shadowclaw has a large number of anti-fighter weapons, including octuple laser cannons and point-defense railguns as well as medium turbolasers that can fit both roles. In addition a large amount of its hangar space is used for TIE/E fighters, which excel at starfighter combat.

 • Garrison: As it carries a droid force which can be stored in designated folding forms and holding chambers, the Shadowclaw can carry a garrison of 60,000 Wyyyschokk-series super battle droids in addition to their weaponry as a countermeasure to boarding or for landing in preparation for a ground assault.
Weaknesses

 • Weaponry Direction: The Shadowclaw’s offensive weapons are split between port and starboard, leaving it unable to bring its full armament to bear on any single target despite its dorsal weaponry being primarily on turrets. This leaves it unable to attack large ships coming at it from any other direction, including from behind and underneath.

 • Electronic Warfare: Significant EMP and Ion attacks are heavily effective against this ship, even with anti-E-war systems present. It’s crewed exclusively by droids, meaning that a sufficiently powerful EMP can not only overload ship systems, but also knock out the droids crewing it. This would severely cripple not only the ship’s capabilities to defend itself, but their ability to repair systems and restore the ship to an operable state. In addition, while the ship possesses a Loki E-War system and its benefits, it also suffers from the system’s weaknesses.

 • Rear Attacks: Like most large ships the Shadowclaw lacks significant defensive guns at its rear, leaving it vulnerable from the rear if its fighters are engaged elsewhere and unable to protect the ship.

 • Shield Overcharge: With molecular shielding on board the Shadowclaw can absorb and redistribute the energy behind incoming enemy fire, but it lacks systems to store much of this power. With sustained significant enemy laser fire it’s very likely for this redistributed energy to overload various systems without that storage capacity, leading to systems failures throughout the ship. This can be balanced and countered by switching shield systems to the backup standard deflectors, however this would leave the ship open to incoming fire for a ten second period in order for the shields to charge, and carries the same weaknesses of standard deflectors in that they can only withstand so much fire before failure.

 • Long Range Warfare: All of the weapons included on the Shadowclaw are mid-to-short range guns, leaving it lacking in long range offensive capabilities. This forces it to either close distance to return fire, leaving it potentially vulnerable to a trap or opening holes in a fleet’s defense, or rely on its shields to keep it alive, the weaknesses of which are covered above.
Description

A joint venture between EODD and Locke & Key Mechanics, the Anakkona-class Cruiser was designed to be a bulwark in the face of enemy attack, with the sole ship in its series, the Shadowclaw, boasting heavy defenses and a serious complement of close range weaponry. Bearing the traditional Star Destroyer dagger shape, the Shadowclaw possesses a split along its nose, with the ship’s extensive hangar complex spread out along the interior of the open area on either side.

While it lacks a traditional heavy turbolaser complement for a ship of its size, the EDC Mk.2 deck cannons make up for this at close range, and are used in conjunction with heavy tractor beam projectors to aid in holding enemy ships in place. It also possesses an arsenal of ion cannons and medium dual turbolaser turrets. In addition to the powerful yet limited armament, it possesses a Loki E-War system, giving it several electronic warfare options that can give it an edge even when out-gunned by larger ships.

As a droid-operated ship, the Shadowclaw features several facilities and systems that aid with this. The major feature is a maintenance and repair bay, one which can hold up to three thousand droids at any time and is capable of repairing the majority of common issues that its crew and complement of droids face. In addition to its 2500-strong crew made up primarily of Tach-series droids, it also carries MACU-BD drones for various repairs, and a garrison of sixty thousand Wyyyschokk-series super battle droids. The battle droids can take the place of more specialized crew droids when necessary, but typically conduct patrols of the ship’s hallways in rotating shifts when not stored in high-volume storage chambers where they are recharged in a folding stowed position. Because of this the Shadowclaw’s life support systems are hardly ever needed, with a limiter system in place to only utilize it in certain parts of the ship designated by its captain. This allows for significant amounts of power to be redirected elsewhere, such as the shields, weapons, or engines.

Two key features of the ship were provided thanks to its manufacturing company, Locke and Key Mechanics: The Loki E-War System and the Freyja Communications System. The Loki provides a significant boost to its electronic warfare capabilities, with powerful jammers, counter-jamming systems, encryption decoders, and the ability to create decoys on enemy scanners. Meanwhile the Freyja works to provide what the Loki would attempt to destroy on enemy ships, specifically a safe and encrypted communications network. Together these systems help keep the Shadowclaw safe and connected to allies.

Unique to EODD, the EB-S Droid Brain is also used on-board the Shadowclaw, four of them specifically in varied configurations to aid in operating the ship. The Engine and Hyperdrive Control brain processes and enacts commands input from the bridge, regulating sublight speed and hyperdrive activation. It works in concert with the Hyperdrive Analysis and Plotting brain, which, along with the Mathematical Modeling and Planning brain, works out a safe route for the ship through hyperspace utilizing data gathered and stored in their memory banks relating to the galaxy as a whole including faction territory, zones of known criminal activity, realspace phenomena such as black holes and asteroid fields, and potential friendly or hostile nearby systems. The Maintenance Analysis brain, meanwhile, operates within the ship, monitoring all systems for damage or irregular behavior and reporting to the bridge in order for them to deploy maintenance crew to investigate and repair. While the EB-S is built to allow for two sets of programming, the brains installed here are set only to one, allowing for much higher processing power which in turn benefits faster data collection, analysis, distribution, and execution.
Because of these systems, the Shadowclaw possesses a good degree of versatility. With decent speed and maneuverability for its class, it can get up close with enemy ships and bombard them with its deck cannons and turbolaser complement, relying on its shields and thick armor to survive. Meanwhile with its ECM capabilities and fighter complement, it can hang back in a fleet and provide support to allies, jamming enemy communications while deploying fighters to defend from smaller craft.
