An Elite Unit Deserves a Worthy Design (Armor)

[member="Alpha"] [member="Mason Deschart"]

Alva fidgeted about in her uniform for a moment, again, and once more quashed the behavior. Even the armor worn by the Imperial Stormtroopers was more comfortable than a stiff uniform. She missed her robes and more elaborate wear but alas she knew it would be long before she could climb into such attire. At least not until she secured a position that granted her privy to Crina and the ability to reign over it within the Imperial system. She wanted true authority, and the Royal Family she was a part of had practically lost if. Her elder sister was aiming to keep to the throne despite its loss of true power, hoping to move up through the system purely through angling and politics.

However, Alva intended to add heroics to her claims. She would enter the military for the Remnant and restore its long lost elite unit, Skull Squadron of the 181st Imperial Fighter Wing. She would revive it, mold it into an elite fighter squadron and commando unit. She would make it capable of going up against the Alliance's Rogue Squadron or Republic's Wraith's. She would create a force that would bring honor and victory, and increase her status at the same.

Already she had gotten the Admiral's blessing to begin putting the squadron together. Not only that but she had already gotten his permission to put a new starfighter design into production, hopefully they would be completed before the finished squadron went on its first mission. In the meantime she would also work on the unit's armor, which she also hoped could be completed in time. What they were seeking was a lightly customization armor that would allow free movement but also give greater protection.

The young Crinan woman knew that the basic Stormtrooper's armor was designed to settle around a class 5, what she figured to then aim for was a class 7 armor if that seemed suitable. But then, that was why she was bringing in both one of the regulars in the Imperial Army, a Stormtrooper himself actually, to give input on the designs and maybe test out some prototypes, as well as Admiral Deschart himself since he knew more about Regent and how it and Crina's Royal Industries might mass produce the armor, or at least on a limited scale.

Delta had heard the news, it seemed Alpha was summoned by a princess, and high ranking officer. Something was up, nothing bad was to be expected, but just in case the nervous brute hid his commando knife behind his combat boots he wore when off duty. Even without armor, he was extremely intimidating, for such a common soldier he had extreme physical prowess. His body showed it, he was a massive, muscular, and bulky human, that displayed a powerful upper body, and lower body. His Biceps huge, chest huge, shoulders huge ,calves huge, it was as if he was a biological tank. The looks did not even compensate for how explosive, and powerful he was, the stormtrooper had walked to the designated office, looking as deadly as a rancor wanting his bone. But even with this power he had over most, there were other ways to double cross someone, and that's why he brought his knife. While the imperial remnant was not like this, there was a first time for everything hopefully it was just a question of what happened during the first phase of the battle on Crina . The nervous soldier had arrived, standing at attention, he saw the smaller women in an officer's uniform , the admiral was not here yet , it was just the two of them as he arrived he stood there silent. Minutes had passed, yet the NCO said nothing, his face looked nervous , what was he here for?

Boots clicked against cold metal as Mason walked through the halls. Some of his underlings were taking it upon themselves to see to the creation of new gear and equipment for the Remnant, now that they were more or less established on Crina. That was fine with him. What was somewhat annoying was the fact that they were using Regent to make some of the armor, which meant that either he or his father needed to be present to see to it that things didn't take an odd, or pathetically bad, turn. He hated doing his father's work for him, but the old man had taken ill so he didn't have much choice.

He swept into the room and walked to the position of authority, where he turned and waved for everyone to be at ease. He didn't have a mind for formalities at the moment. There was a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it in, which meant that he was excessively busy and this actually constituted a break for him, so he was going to take measures to not do overly much. Besides, the pilots knew fighter craft and equipment the best these days.

"You may begin when you're ready."

@Alpha @Mason Deschart

They were only in the reception area for now as Alva watched and bowed to both the soldier and Admiral as they entered the premises. The surprise of the prototypes lay in another room down the hall where they would perform the testing and showcase the design. It was often she had to look up at anyone though, and it actually irked her more that it was a man, but the young Crinan put that complain aside as the Admiral appeared so that the work could begin. "Admiral its a pleasure to see you again. We've been conducting work on more designs and we think you'll be pleased. This time however, the Crinan Royal Industries have put together a prototype armor. Yet with our unfamiliarity with the material and design I think while we could definitely work on the remaining prototype, Regent Industries should handle the major production in the end. Once more this armor will specifically for elite infantry units or commando squads. I was hoping to provide several to the 181st once it goes active as well sir. So for today we'll be showing you the work we've done so far on the prototype, and have invited this superb soldier to test it out as an honor to distinguish his work during Crina's rescue from the rebel forces. We have an armor unit in another room in the back where we can get started whenever the two of you are ready."

The blonde haired, and brown eyed farmer sighed with relief, and became excited. " Lead the way mam. " , the soldier said with respect, he was starting to make a name of himself . Good, perhaps he would be able to move up in the ranks with his squad, the massive human stood tall waiting for the two superiors to move first. The other two could tell he was tense before, alpha's muscles were no longer tense, but relaxed , his eyes were no longer focused but calm. But even when relaxed, his athletic body naturally flexed, he was definitely the proper choice for this test, with as much prowess the man posses in his body, it would be smart to see how much his performance would increase with this armor. What would the armor look like ? Would it look like the tradition armor worn now, or radically different ? Soon the " Test Subject" , would find out, hopefully the armor would not be tight, that would strain his monument, and monument just enough to be an annoyance.

Well sithspit. As soon as he sat down he was told that the prototypes were in another room. Wasn't that just his luck? Well, whatever. It still kept him from having to go and deal with some other matter that would just make his brain hurt. He only felt truly at peace when he was commanding the fleet, and since he didn't have a need to do that at the moment, he was going to focus on doing whatever little tasks he could to avoid dealing with the politicians and their ilk. Though that wasn't working since here he was with a darned Princess.

"Lead on."

He rose again, and motioned for her to lead them to where they would see the test armor.

The Crinan woman had to contain a smirk when she saw the poor older man sit down to rest before she informed him that the prototypes were in another room waiting to be tested. Of course she was tempted to let it show, but considering she was aiming to rise in the Imperial system it would likely go very bad for her if she were to irritate the Admiral, so Alva decided to not make any remarks at her superior officer's frailty. Still, that could just be her being sore still about failing to rise in status under her original plans, but there was no other choice but to move on it appeared.

"My apologies Admiral, I should have informed you before. Just follow me." Leading the way she would open the door into the hall further into the complex for them as they headed past several rooms and offices until they came to one that, when opened, revealed a large expanse of space with several mannequins at the center. Four to be precise, each sporting a variant of new Imperial trooper armor, each made for different scenarios and specializations. "These are the armors I was talking about before. We've considered several approaches, but to both maintain cost efficiency as well as quality we decided to break up the original concept into four different projects instead, though we have included a level of variability between some of their pieces. Why not take a look and let me know what you think of them at first glance?"

((Check the 181st threads for a better idea of what they look like.))

It was a wonder, all these new toys were at his disposal, and he could just test them out. The shiny new armor glimmered as the farmer made a smile, thank the stars he was on the right side. The soldier then looked at the slots of the heavy trooper armor , it had so much plating compared to his armor. His eyes peered it over, " The armor looks pretty intimidating and effective, just from a first glance. The only question I have is what are these empty slots for, are they the pieces that can be customized?" . It was a curious question, and a very valid one, how exactly would this work, would be easy for new soldiers to figure out? Or would this new feature be a hassle ? Ready to try on the elite armor, the soldier took his hilt that carried his knife , and placed it on a nearby table, hopefully the others would not be alarmed by how clever the brute was. No one had checked the back of his legs in fear of being demoted or punished, with this horrific systematic rules at least one issue at a time was being dealt with. The empire needed, new ,efficient ,combat armor for there elites, and they would have them , Alpha would make sure of that.

Mason followed along. He had no problem letting the younger officer take the lead in this situation, just as he had no problem not really talking unless he was forced to. Not that he had a problem with talking, he just didn't care to do it unnecessarily and this whole thing was supposed to be his break from it all. They entered another room, and hear the various armors were displayed before them, each having its own merits and a definite basis in the designs of the original Imperial armors. He wondered what the plans were to make them unique.

"I see before me simple variations in traditional armor. How do you propose to make them something better than their predecessors?"

Alva smiled as the imperial soldier stared at the heavy armor in awe and found herself pleased that the project she had put Crina's engineers to work on. She deeply appreciated both of her compatriots questions about the armor as well, since they led perfectly into her explanation for the gear and the reasons for why they would be so effective. "Well Admiral, as our comrade has pointed out for one there are several slots on the armor that you might find interesting. We've made it so the armor is more effective on the go, essential pieces like the chest and shoulder plates, arm and shin guards, and such can be easily removed and replaced with another of the same or similar kind. Thus if the commando unit carries spares their damaged armor won't hinder them for long. In addition we also have several clippings slotted onto the armor in various places, more so for the heavy variant, so soldiers wearing the equipment can carry around more gear on their person without risk of it falling off without their hold. Though it would take a stronger soldier of course to lug around hefty weaponry. Finally we have many different alterations we can make to the equipment. We can attach cable launchers, wrist blasters, retractable blades, and holo projectors into the gauntlets. Of course we can only put one of any piece of gear into an arm, so there are many different variations. In addition we also have differences in the helmets. All helmets contain a light oxygen supply for combat in vacuum or toxic environments for a short period of time, but for example the scout/sniper variant helmet has several zoom features integrated into its HUD as well as superior night and heat vision. All HUDs though will track both the wearer's vitals as well as those of their unit in close proximity. Do these sound impressive sirs?"

Mason listened to what [member="Alva Calvarona"] had to say about the armor. She was clearly vested in this design, and she'd done her homework. Given what he'd seen of her so far, he wasn't surprised. The woman had a knack for all things military, even though she was a Princess. It made him wonder how it was that she hadn't crushed the rebels on her world with her superior knowledge. The only reason he could think of was that the rebels had all the numbers. Not true anymore. They were all in prison or dead. As they should be.

"I'm impressed with your dedication to the armor."

Not that he would ever wear it.

"How soon can production begin? I'm sure our generals will want their troops outfitted with the best armor as soon as possible."
