Amputation (Part One of Dev Thread)

Turquoise eyes stared at the sun as the giver of light descending back into the depths of the horizon. Shadows stretched over the tall pines of the forest. The moon began to make its rise and offer its luminous beauty to the lush vegetation. Moonlight dappled through the sprawled branches above. The wind blew whispering through the leaves a melody of shadow. Canine ears twitched and neon eyes carefully observed the environment as if analyzing the mystery of the forest. A young man named 13 took a steady breath, his slit eyes narrowed as he thought silently to himself. It was almost time for a mission briefing...He did not know how to feel about the situation. But apparently the Mandolorians needed aid in a rather sensitive mission that could not be done rashly. And out of all the people to seek aid from they came to the fringe. Interesting how that worked out. 13 however knew they did not trust them completely. Hell, they had orchestrated this meeting on Kalee. On the very corner of their vast territory. Risky business the manrolorians. 13 remembered the day h was rescued by Cai Canis a mando invasion took place at the same time by a man named Verz. But that was six years ago. 13 had grown since then, even if he only seemed like a kid.

Footsteps sounded far behind. Ears swiveled back as he turned his head slightly over his shoulder. Glaring at the three men who appeared from the distant shadow. As they stepped into the light 13 saw it was the mandolorian escort. Sent to take him to the meeting. One of them spoke as the other two took post beside him.

"13 of the fringe. We are ready for you now. Come with us." He said demanding.

13 narrowed his eyes and blinked. Turning around to face them 13 knew his ship had left when he landed. 13 needed to build their trust somewhere. He noted that the mando in the center wore red armor. While the two on the side wore a dark green. The thought crossed his mind that their armor could have been based on rank but he decided not to think about it. Nodding his head 13 watched as the mando in red turned and walked back from whence he came. The other two stood behind holding blaster rifles and nodded their head in their directed. Telling 13 to follow. The boy walked forward with a blank expression and once he passed the two men they followed behind him. 13 simply waited to arrive at the temple like structure.

Texam waited in the complex with her fellow Mandalorians. She was clad in her black and gold armor, waiting patiently for the representative of the Lords of the Fringe to arrive. She didn't trust the Fringe, and neither did her vod, but the situation was dire. They needed the Fringe. She looked down at her blaster rifle, rubbing it a bit to make it gleam in the dull light. Her Katarn blade was on her back as usual, and a blaster pistol along with a knife was on her waist. The HUD feeds in her helmet was buzzing with the chatter of her vod.

"I don't like it. The Fringe are sneaky. They might just slit our throats in the night and be done with us..."

"Don't be a dik'kut, Doran. They wouldn't get the chance..."

"Will you two pipe down? I'm already on edge as it is, and I don't need your constant jabber pounding through my head..."

Texam looked around at her vod, each of them muttering through their helmets about how much they disliked the Fringe. She shook her head. It was just one little representative. What harm could they possibly do? And besides, they should be thankful that the Fringe even decided to show up. They could just as easily have said no. If they were planning something, wouldn't they have sent a few more people? She sighed. Being agitated about this kind of thing wouldn't get anyone anywhere.

When the doors to the complex opened, one of the commanders and two scouts came in. Behind them was a boy with bright cyan eyes, two dog-like ears, and a tail of some kind. Texam looked at him through her helmet curiously. He was certainly an interesting Fringer, that was for sure. She moved her head with them as they walked down the corridor, keeping her eyes on the boy. Why would they send a boy for this? Did they not think it important enough to send an adult? She considered this as the boy disappeared from view.

I shook my head as the other mandos were arguing over something. I could care less. Me standing there in my black and Red armor, I carried both my Delta pistols on my thighs, an Angel blade on my back, and my Gladiator assault rifle slung in my arms. The barrel of mine was shortened as I mainly used it in close quarters, and if need be, I could used a sniper rifle for long range. Ether way I was ready. I was asked to come on this mission to meet with representatives from Lords of the Fringe. Or for short Lotf. Some of the men I was talking to earlier were making jokes on the name.

and others that I would rather not think of, when the door opened. A Red mando follwed by scouts entered the room along with a boy. Of all things a boy.

The breeze blew heavenly throughout the trees. Every sound that made itself known was caught by the young mans ears. The tattering feet of mice...the beating wings of a butterfly...the insults of men up ahead. There was an advantage to having fox like hearing. Being able to hear the ticking of a watch from several kilometers away came in useful time to time. 13 noted how each step the mandolorians before him where heavy and sloppy. Their heavy armor was loud against the soft dirt and 13 could hear the clinking of their armor as they walked on. He kept his head ducked and his arms slouched in a almost submissive position. Hand slept lazily in his pockets and every step he made was about as silent as a whisper.

As he approached the compound 13 instantly took notice to the remarks of his arrival. Apparently him being a child greatly influenced them...good. 13 made it a point not to be mad when someone underestimated him. It only made it easier to take them out. Ignoring the childish thoughts and comments of those around him 13 was taken into a large building with a round table in the center. Several mandos sat leaving three seats open. One was for him apparently. The two men behind stopped before he entered and took post behind the door. The red one who had lead him walked over to the head of the table and stood next to what 13 could only assume was the leader of this whole operation.

13 invited himself to his seat and made himself comfortable as the others examined him from underneath their helmets. Judging his appearance and attitude as 13 sat down, crossed one leg over his knee. And placed his arms behind the head of the chair and stared at the head of the table without a hint of expression.

The mando in black armor spoke first.

"They sent...a child to aid us? We requested the Representative of the knights!" He barked. Making it clear he was annoyed. The others nodded and 13 sat there silently. Paying them no mind as they continued. The head of the table spoke next.
"This is true. For them to send a child is shameful. Do they take us for fools? Who are you Vod?" The man spoke firmly. 13 narrowed his eyes an tilted his head.

"What i am...is what you ordered. You asked for the Representative of the knights thus i am here. This being said if i am a knight and even more so actually the representative. You should take into consideration i am far more stronger then my age may lead on. Otherwise i would not be here. So assume, that i come as advertised." 13 told him blankly. Not changing his expression.

Now he waited for the mission briefing. As soon as these so called warriors were done with their childish games.

Texam leaned against the wall in the gathering room. She watched lazily as a few of her vod argued. They stood in the center of the room, and no one else was paying attention. From the harshness in their tones, she could tell that they were about to fight.

"The Fringers can't be trusted! We should kill that representative before he has a chance to get back to his officers!"

"Why? Because a boy scares you? What could he possibly do that could be a danger to us?"

"He could exploit our weaknesses you dik'kut! He could come back with an army and destroy us!"

"You're the dik'kut if you think a boy could defeat the Mando'ade!"

When they started throwing punches, Texam heaved a sigh and walked over to them. She yanked them apart, holding each by the throat as she spoke. "You're both dik'kuts," She growled, throwing them to the ground. "You should never underestimate someone. But to overestimate them is a sign of cowardice. You should be cautious around them, assuming nothing. That way, when they actually do do something, you will be prepared for it." She walked back to her place on the wall. This was ridiculous, spending all of their time and energy waiting for this representative to be told about something they already knew. They should be doing something constructive, not just sitting around.

Then men...these...'warriors'. Where showing 13 a new level of idiocy. They where acting like wolf pups bickering over a scrap of meat...13's ear swiveled as he watched. 13 did not even need to say anything for them to start destroying themselves. These where the famous warriors everyone in the galaxy feared? 13 did not see it. They where about as threatening as a flock of butterflies at this rate. Still...they where allies. Thus 13 would tolerate their childish ways. When punches where being thrown a women mando stepped in and pretty much acted as a parent disciplining her children. But instead of taking them by the ear she took their necks...A very dangerous move for someone like 13. His wolf instincts always told him to protect his neck...had he been grabbed there things would have grown violent quickly. The women spoke words that meant more sense to him and walked away calmly. Good...someone with a leveled head. When the soldiers sat down 13 spoke directly too him.

"I will get this out of the way now. If you dont trust me, or you dont want me here. Leave now and forever hold your peace. Because without a substantial amount of trust an operation becomes chaotic and puts the mission at risk." 13 said blankly, looking up at the ceiling and continuing on. "And if you where to kill me...you would most likely be at war with not only the fringe. But Omega Prye, the confederacy, and most likely some others. Considering your forces are spread thin i dont think you could handle something like that. After all, you did call ME here. This tells me that whatever mission you need aided with was already attempted but failed. Am i right?" he asked without a hint of emotion. The head of the table growled slightly and replied.

"You got balls vod...but you are correct. We tried to have our very own brothers attempt to complete the assignment. They where captured and being tortured as we speak..." The mando said darkly. The room fell silent as the others made silent prayer to their brethren. 13 felt no sympathy or empathy for them.

13 took a moment to think. The way this man spoke it sounded like a high risk rescue mission...locate the captives. Secure them. Escape. And for an assignment like this it needed to be planned carefully. But he also had to leave room for error. After all, not everything goes as planned. 13 sighed and sat up.

"Very well then. Continue." 13 asked, needing to know more before he made any plans. The vod nodded and gave the run down.

"As you could have guessed. This is a rescue mission. But the stakes have been risen. Originally, this was an assignment to rescue the daughter of head chief of Mandolor. But since we lost men the first time, we will need your help securing them as well." He leaned forward and placed his elbows on the table. "They where taken but very well armed rouges. Pirates, assassins, mercenaries, force users. The whole bunch. Our trackers located them somewhere in the Kastolar sector. They are on a cruiser so getting on will be the hard part. Getting off...even harder. I need you to take my men, get them onto the ship. Save our brothers and sisters. And get back here." He explained in a nutshell. 13 could tell he was alone in providing for this job. "And one more thing...i dont want any casualties." He ended.

13 narrowed his eyes at the last request. 13 could make no guarantees...sighing deeply 13 nodded. "Ok...but i choose who i bring with me. Some of your 'men' act like rabid dogs.' 13 said standing up. Pointing to @[member="Texam Halion"] 13 spoke once more. Ignoring the grumbling behind him. "You. And him." 13 said pointing at the Mando wearing red armor standing next to the head mando. "And the men standing in the door. One other if they are willing to keep their head straight." 13 said, walking out of the room. Fairly certain the women would follow. As he walked out 13 turned his head to see another sitting up against the wall. 13 narrowed his head and spoke to @@Jorn Mair. "You too."

Sighing as I watched everything like a hawk. I watched as everything went down between the two mandos. Initiates. I pulled out a dagger and began to start sharpening it as they were all briefed on what was to be done. The boy picked his group out that was there. Sadly he thought that he was in charge. Really I thought that I could do this with a small task force if they asked me nicely. However, they wanted back up. Smiling I jutted my chin out at the boy. "You think you are going to Lead mandos into battle?" I lightly scoffed and took a step forwards and leaned down to look into his face. "You my young friend are wrong about that. No one, and I mean NO ONE, leads my men. As stupid as they may seem. They follow me. Not you."

I leaned back up and there was a slight chink where my rifle that hung by my side hit my black armor. My visor a green color unlike the rest of the my black and red getup. "If you want to lead a Mando task force then you have to be a Mando. Not an outsider. You are here to help us as some dont believe that we can do this on our own." As I said that I looked up at the Red mando However much he was my rank of a Rally Master. I had gotten here before him, years before this new hot shot was even training with daggers. "I dont command you, and you don't command my forces. WHich right now is a nice total of the men you just picked out. However as I know that I wont change your mind, I'll let you command them under me."

There was no moving me from my post. however much I saw that he was a boy, and yes he may be of a knight, I still did not trust him. And I was not easily going to be pushed aside. I was willing to work with him and possibly get along, but only after he proved for me that he was to be trusted. Even the highest of people can be corrupt.

As Texam walked behind the boy, she clenched her jaw and turned to the Mando clad in black and red armor. "What are you trying to prove? That just because you're a Rally Master you can control everyone?" She hissed. "I am SO TIRED of you and everyone else trying to put yourselves above him just because he's a Fringer. You have no idea what he can and can't do. From where we are right now, we're going to lose our brothers and sisters out there because you all are so worried about a Fringer trying to help us." She got up into the Mando's face, glaring at him through her visor. "I don't care if you're above me or not. Those are my vod out there. If they die, their blood is on my hands, and it's on yours, too. If placing my trust in a Fringer means that I can save them, then I'm going to." She glanced back at the boy once, and then walked back to where she was behind him. She ignored the murmers that arose when she turned her back to the rest of them. If they wanted to call her a traitor, then let them. She could care less what they thought of her. All she cared about was getting her vod home.

13 turned on his phone and began walking out when suddenly some really loud vod begun to talk down to him. 13...was not paying much attention. He only caught a few words as his ears swiveled behind him to catch and sounds that actually mattered. But suddenly the same girl who stopped those men from fighting jumped on this male as well in a battle of wits 13 agreed with to a point. When she was done and walked off 13 continued looking down at his phone while standing next to the man. Blankly he spoke to prove a valid point. "Frankly...she has a point. It does not matter who leads but that your brothers and sisters get out alive. If i am to help you i am going to need your cooperation. That means no more trying to look ballsy or dominate." 13 put his phone away and began to walk before pausing and looking over his shoulder at the men behind him. "There is a reason i choose you all...its because. Like her. You dont care who leads or what happens so long as you get your family back. And you all appear to have compassion and less of a drive to prove yourself. You all want the same thing. That being said i dont want to lead you...you are all smart enough to do it yourselves." 13 turned forward in a drop ship landed to take them. 13 closed his eyes and walked forward with his hands in his pockets to bored. Getting on the ship and taking a seat 13 crossed his legs and crossed his arms over his chest. Looking over to the women and nodding.

I could only smile once again when the woman came into my face. I shook my head as she walked away. "You are worthless until proven otherwise my darling." Putting my dagger away I checked the slide of my pistol then put it back as well. "As much as I would like and allow help. I need to know if I can trust him. Its not that he is a boy. I could care less about his age. However, it is still a factor, I will only allow him to command my troops if he proves himself. And as we see now, He has that shot." Looking to the boy I took my helmet off and knelt down on to one knee to look him directly in the eyes with mine own. "Subject 13. I dont care how old you are. I was once a young lad who went on my own for vengeance against the Sith. I was 17 at the time. That time, I was a handfull as I believed nothing could stop me. But as I have had a hard past that I would rather not hash out, I come hard to trust others that I have just met. I hold you to your own regard of power as I am also a force user. However, dont think that I trust you just becuase we may share the same power. Don't take offence if I dont trust you."

Standing up I face the woman Vod. "Do not ridicule me of my actions when you do not know them woman. I could care less that he is younger than me. He is very capible of cutting my head off. That is why I do not trust him. Not of his size or age, but of what I do not know of him." I put my helmet back on. and then pointed a finger at her. "Do that again and I will take you down myself." Turning to the men who were staring at me I yelled at them. "We dont have all day! Get moving!"

Lexa let out a short huff in her helmet, smirking with malice at the Mando's threat. She didn't fear Force-users. If he did try to kill her, she'd know what to do. He wouldn't be the first Force-user she had killed, and he probably wouldn't be the last. Texam boarded the ship, sitting across from 13. She gave him a single nod in return. She knew what it was like to be underestimated and looked down upon, especially when it came to offering help. She glanced over at her vod in red and black armor, and then at all the other mandos with them. She realized that she was the only female along. That just made her feel even more anxious to find the lost vod. She didn't know why, it just did.

13 walked pass the man as he spoke, not paying much attention to him bowing or whatever it was he was doing...once he was seated in the ship the others joined him and strapped in. 13 sighed deeply and began to think. 'Clearly this is not going to be easy...they are in a star ship this means that getting in will be the hard part. They could not simply fly up to them and announce who they where no...they needed a more carefully thought out plan. Perhaps 13 could float to the ship and enter through the filtering ducks. Or commandeer one of their own ships allowing them safe passage. So many possibilities yet he did not have the gear he needed. He had infiltrated ships several times before but never once with a group. This ultimately complicated things. Looking at each of the mandos 13 narrowed his eyes. "I'm afraid we are going to have to go in guns blazing if we cant find a more suitable way." He told them blankly, looking at each of their guns. Maybe if they had a rocket launcher....he thought to himself as they took off. Flying out of orbit.

Shaking my head. I was being completely ignored. I guess I will just have to work with what I have. I took a seat and strapped myself in. I looked out the port as we asended into the sky. This time I ignored the boy about guns blazing. I could care less. Thats how I always fought. With guns blazing.

Texam smirked through her helmet when the boy mentioned guns blazing. She leaned on her knee with her elbow. "I think we can all agree that we're just fine with that," She said. A few of the other Mandalorians yelled in agreement. "Akalenedat, vod! Akaanir 'kay an aru'es ASH'AMUR!" She yelled. The Mandalorians around her yelled loudly, stomping their feet in anticipation and agreement. Texam leaned back into her seat, smiling. Today, her bloodlust would be curbed. Today, her vod would be avenged. Dead or alive.....
