Amongst My Books

Why had she given up on using a lightsaber? Well who actually knows, she doesn't eleven remember herself. The point is she hasn't ever needed it, she far excels in other areas that are just as important. Though, with the lack of a consistent Master, and with her being in the Library most of the time, she wondered why not take this time to train her own abilities? She had been working so hard to learn a variety of abilities to help her in the event things went south, as to most she was already handicapped. Though mostly her work was easier in times of peace, and in wartime most Jedi were called on to be on the front lines or keep the peace. There weren't many of them at this time, and numbers were scattered, some of this was enough to ignite a drive within her; a drive to get better.

She was hoping to hone her telekinesis skills, she had been working on a new technique, Ballistakinesis. It wasn't an unheard of ability, but it was one she was all the while familiar with so have it down packed. However, she was a scholar and she excelled in learning abilities far quicker than most. Finally finding time to get away from those lovely books of hers, she snuck off to the training areas. (Not that she would get in trouble however) she just felt it necessary.

On approach she could feel the echoes of the auras emanating from the Jedi around her, their numbers had dwindled, and it disappointed her. She carried her datapad on her person, wrapped within her arms. Within it were notes she had taken and holo vids she had downloaded to refer back to in order to train herself on the ins and outs of this ability. On approach of the massive section of the training room, the doors slid open, separating down the middle when the sensors became aware of her presence. She didn't necessarily stop to talk to anyone as many didn't know her, she was a more reserved type sticking to what she knows, and not venturing much off her path; other than that she was mostly studying up on things in the archives rather than mingling.

Sidestepping and slipping into one of the rooms on the side, she closed the doors behind her. Then she took a deep breath and sat down her things.

"This ability isn't a hard one, pretty simple, or maybe it's because I've been reading up and watching demonstrations for about a couple of weeks now. The life of a scholar I guess."

Moments would passed as she reviewed and reviewed her notes. Once she felt ready she stood up and took a deep breath, sighing and releasing the mental stress she had just placed on herself. Reading was tiring in some ways. She had set up a couple of objects in the center of the room. As she took a couple of steps closer, she pushed up her glasses which were reflecting a small beam of light from the sunset outside the window. She raised and eyebrow as she began to manipulate the items through the force.

The one thing she didn't have we're targets, and she didn't wanna ruin anything within the room. She nodded within her serious expression and launched the objects one trailing after another at the farthest wall. In time her hand briefly maneuvered, her fingers moving. The acceleration of the objects were sped up tremendously, and just as they were about to crash into the walls she released them from their manipulation and the hit the floor just a distance in front of her.

Her breathing was sped up as well, as she was testing an ability she had never used before, energy she had never expended before. All in the name of those scholarly pursuits huh? She went to repeat this process until her body ran out of the energy she needed, every time she would take a break, and review her notes and holovids.

Over the course of just resting her body and energy had returned to their normal state. The power of rest. She was consistently practicing but she wanted to end it out with another session before going in and doing her own thing once again. This time she moved rooms, and found more debris to manipulate. A training droid was essential for her next session, well not essential, but helpful as it would provide a target she could focus on. She placed her datapad on a nearby stand, and she slowly began to walk towards the center. Her index finger was placed softly in the middle of her frame of her glasses. As she slowly pushed them up light was refracted off the surface of the glass.

Her facial expression was serious as always, and she began to wiggle with her fingers. She wanted to loosen them up, get the blood circulating of course. It seemed she was just about ready, some spare parts had been prepared and left for her to utilize, she was grateful they were even able to find these parts. None of them were very useful, just old spare parts that might've fallen off a passing droid of the oldest model. They most likely wouldn't even penetrate or cause much damage to the training droid, it's only order was to stand still and pretend to be a target.

She threw out her hand, her fingers were just slightly curled at the tips. Her eyes were squinting and she was concentrating for a brief moment to actually manipulate the debris. They shook along the ground and within a matter of seconds they slowly rose from the surface of the flooring beneath her. She continued to concentrate, not showing as much strain as the average person. Before there were less items to focus on. The addition of more saw to it that she need more concentration.

Within time, through sheer focus she lifted all the objects and they began to hover around her being. As they circled her she continued her link to the force, her eyes closed only slowly, and when they opened she launched the debris full of spare parts towards the droid. As they went in they sped up every couple of seconds becoming that much more damaging than their previous form. The extreme velocity saw they crash into the training partner of metal just some feet away from her. The clinking and clanking if metal meeting metal was within an echo that shivered its way throughout the entire room.

"I feel pretty confident. All of that studying was for the best. Just some clinks here and there but not before long I'll have this downpact." these were the words in her head. She would return to her service within the library, more research was to be done.

*sigh*
