Among My Books and Scrolls [Gurbot Luk]

Their numbers were still small, a slowly budding Jedi Order that was making history in its separation from the Republic. It had been a frightening decision to make at first and even now she had the things she wondered about: would there be enough younglings for her to one day teach a Padawan of her own? Would those who needed their help trust them, accept them without the backing of Coruscant? But most importantly…would someone come who shared the same interests as she did?

Asaak was a bookworm by nature. She was almost insufferable, seeking out as much knowledge as she could beforehand when she’d been assigned a mission. Her saber, though she was good enough with it to defend herself if need be, felt hopelessly clumsy in comparison to her fast growing mastery of the Force and its mysteries. She would never been done learning, and she liked that.

The question of whether or not she would find those with similar interests was starting to find answers. She waited in the quiet area of the Temple that would one day be its library, an Archives to rival the one found on Coruscant, twirling a small rock around in the air with the Force as she waited for one [member="Gurbot Luk"]. He had requested her presence in regards to the Visk Clan and she would be lying if she said she wasn’t thrilled. There was so much to do – so much to learn and keep track of – that she couldn’t wait to speak with someone who might find it as fascinating as she did.

Gurbot slowly made into the ancient and hollow regions of the Temple, being quiet on land was always difficult for Gurbot given his sheer size and unwieldy webbed, fin like arms and legs. It was Gurbot's intention to seek one he come to know as the Togruta Asaak Tey, who apparently shared his desire to preserve and record powers, events as well as secrets of the universe. Gurbot's fascination and affinity for history began when he was very young, on his home of Dellalt, when he would explore and aid in the preservation of the relics/ruins of old Xim the Despots empire.

Another point of discussion, and want to speak with Assak Tey, whom he knew shared his passion in desiring a greater understanding of the mystifying, universal fabric that was the force. Asaak Tey had founded the Visk Clan and Gurbot wished to join her in the quest of creating an extensive new archive system.

Gurbot approached and with a heavily accented/guttural sputtering of Galactic Basic announced his arrival to Tey, whom he had spotted twirling a stone, not that she didn't already know he was there, 544 kilos of weight and a height of 12.5 meters would do that to you- "Hail, to you, companion and friend Assak Tey-I apologize for being so late-I was in the midst of deep transcendent council with myself in the wilderness, when a great specter of the force shook me awake and demanded I seek you out!! Shall we commence judgement and deliberations concerning the Visk clan and my participation?"

She had not expected him to be so big.

As he approached she could feel that something large was moving in her direction from the sonar qualities of her montrals. For a moment she wondered if she was in danger but she sensed no malice, so unless someone was shielding their intentions in the Force she felt comfortable.

When [member="Gurbot Luk"] came striding in to the room she was in awe. There was a peace about him, it seemed to her, that she wouldn’t have expected. Can’t judge a book by its cover. She was even more pleasantly surprised when he spoke, liking the boom of him. She stood, giving him a small bow and her usual easy smile. “That’s quite alright. I’ve been known to lose myself in the Force a bit longer than intended, myself. Please, call me Asaak.”

He got right down to business and she nodded. There were many aspects of the role of a Consular she found fascinating, but she was firmly planted in the role of Mystic. Her path lay in the Force, in unraveling its mysteries and what could be achieved, of pushing herself to her limits. But there was so much to a consular – archivist, diplomat, lorekeeper. The Clan would need all kinds and though she was its founder, others would have to lead the charge as well.

The goal of her meetings with prospective members was not to challenge them, but to learn them. What were their interests? What made them pursue their path? Did they have true interest? The last was the most important to her. Did they have a thirst for knowledge, for growth – for whatever they chose? She would accept no less than true passion. If the Visk were to make strides and truly make a difference they needed an elite team of dedicated Jedi. “Of course,” she said, unsure whether she should walk as it seemed every step of his would equal ten of hers. Instead she sank to the floor with her legs crossed beneath her, assuming a meditative position. The room was huge and there was little furniture yet. Plenty of room for a Dellaltian. “But first, I’m curious as to why you wish to join us.”

"I espied and over heard your efforts to build up anew the archive system here on Voss. That and I am curious as well as find it riotous and honorable too be apart of the group that wishes to reacquaint those touched with the force towards the long honored monastic studies that have for too long been waylaid and cast aside/forgotten by many in recent decades...as I have observed from historical/societal study over time. I also truly believe that through the combined efforts of the Visk Clan, we may preserve ancient knowledge both forbidden and fruitful for time immemorial so that all associated here may know, with the exception of ancient things that are malevolent in nature- in such cases I find the Visk Clan would be instrumenatal in keeping those things hidden and protected from foul intent. Natural, Educational, Cultural, Societal and Historical studies-I wish too partake in said endeavors-expeditions abounding right here on Voss and throughout the Galaxy-doing so, I say with conviction that through these peaceful actions and dealings, we could enlighten and uplift the people of our Galaxy, our home, whilst increasing the knowledge of our inner selves as well-That is why I am here Asaak."

Lifting his long neck and head aloft in acknowledgement he solemnly awaits a response. @Asaak Tey

When [member="Gurbot Luk"] spoke she fell under a bit of a spell. His vocabulary was verbose, meaty – she felt as if she could sink her teeth in to it. As he spoke a small smile drifted on to her delicate features. “Well spoken,” she offered. He spoke with that passion she so craved to hear in others – he would be a fine, fine addition to the Visk Clan.

“It’s a Lorekeeper’s path you seek then?” she asked. “It sounds that way to me – so I welcome you, Gurbot Luk, to the Visk Clan as our newest Rajivari.”

She had chosen the names of the ranks within the Clan’s groups based on the names of Jedi of old and she wondered if Gurbot had, somewhere in his studies, come across the Jedi for whom his new title was a namesake.
