Allura Kahli

FACTION: Order of the Silver Jedi

RANK: Captain, Antarian Ranger
SPECIES: Umbaran

AGE: 29

SEX: Female

HEIGHT: 5' 10"

WEIGHT: 149 lbs

EYES: White

HAIR: Black

SKIN: Ashen Cream

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

VOICE: Mary Elizabeth McGlynn

STRENGTHS
  • + Agile - The Force Sensitivity has manifested in a way allowing greater reflexes than a Near Human would normally posses. Some might call it sixth sense, or time dilation. Allura is also a capable acrobat in her own right, and can often be found running a circuit.
  • + Shadow - The Art of the Unseen, Kahli knows how to still her body, control her breathing and heart rate, move silently down a hallway, and linger in someone's shadow without raising a person's hackles. Even some Jedi have remarked about not noticing her presence at times.
  • + Saboteur - Stealth gets her past the guards, but once inside that's where the Rangers can often put her skills to use. Cripple an enemy's network, deactivate security perimeters, or destroying a secret research laboratory; if someone built it, she can break it.
  • + Dark Sight - Umbaran are able to see clearly even in pitch black conditions as a result of evolving on a planet devoid of light. They're also known to be able to see in the ultraviolet spectrum.
WEAKNESSES
  • - Black Sheep - Allura is the person willing to do whatever is necessary to maintain law, order, and stability within the Faction. She will do things others refuse to, and often can't even bring themselves to say aloud let alone put to action. What's more is she accepts this role willingly.
  • - Deathwish - She possesses a disregard for her own safety, and will take on challenges others would consider 'punching above her weight.'
  • - Callous - Death is a natural part of the cycle of life. So if Allura needs to eliminate someone, or one of her own gets neutralized, that's just the way things had to be. Share a drink, commiserate if necessary, and move on.
  • - Loyal - While insensitive to someone's passing and dismissive of the innate value of life, Kahli is loyal to her squad. If one of them is pinned or captured, she is finds herself drawn to evaluating how to rescue them. It is often written off as not wanting to lose a good resource, but deep down people she works with are probably the closest to family this shadow has.
APPEARANCE
Five foot ten with an average weight balancing her lean body of an athlete with some measure of strength training. Allura has ashen cream skin tone, white eyes, and black hair characteristic of the Umbaran. A number of scars from blasters, swords, and shrapnel from explosions line her body, except for her face; though there has been a time or two credits were dropped in a surgeon's hand to keep it that way.

She often wears dark, but fashionable clothes when off-duty.

BIOGRAPHY
Allura was born in the dark of Umbara. Unlike others that claim such dark ancestry, however, she doesn't claim any connection to the Dark Side of the Force. If anything, she has refused to be trained by the Jedi that surround her to avoid that fate. As someone willing to do what the Jedi themselves cannot, Kahli has questioned the wisdom of training someone so inclined toward darkness. What connection she has managed on her own has served more than enough in carrying out missions - both official and unofficial in nature.

Before she hooked up with the Silver Jedi, Allura operated in the underworld. They would pay for her services in dealing with problems, and those problems would go away. Permanently. She reveled in the challenge and didn't feel the slightest guilt at theft or murder. It was a living she was proud of, and felt suitably competent in performing. At least until she met a Jedi with a contract out for their head.

On some filthy world, the operative located, followed, and confronted the Jedi after an ambush failed to seal their fate. Their blades met for a time before it ended in a stalemate, and Kahli's thumb on a detonator. While willing to sacrifice herself, when the Jedi turned the saber to point at their own chest claiming there was 'another way' Allura leaped at the chance to survive. Her hand sought to shove the saber forward only to find the blade of light suddenly gone, and the Jedi's hand on the detonator as well. Words followed starting with the fact the people that put the contract out would come for Allura next. She liked a challenge, but the Jedi offered plenty of challenge plus the sense of fulfillment at participating something more than obtaining credits Kahli didn't need.

Since the credits really hadn't been her motivation, the Umbaran acquiesced to the Jedi. Her landfall among an Order that taught peace was not without its...moments. Even among those striving to learn battlefield tactics and an understanding of the monks they worked with -- for? -- Allura had more than her share of clashes.

The first had been with a man taller and more muscular than she was. Their conflict started with Allura getting her butt kicked, but only until the predictable movements of her opponent were analyzed; in one flurry of blows she brought him to the mat. Most people left her alone after that point; unless a few barbed words here or there set them off, or they had the unfortunate tendency to not believe the stories surrounding her.

Plenty of things had been learned at their Academy -- seeing how she worked alone for most things up to that point -- but Kahli was all too happy to graduate back to the real world. She wasn't sure if the Jedi knew her disposition to doing whatever was necessary, or if they somehow thought they could change her, but whatever their intentions her methods hadn't changed. Evolved, perhaps. Incorporated others able and willing to work with her. But the missions were still the same -- stop the enemy, steal a resource, destroy a facility. Didn't much bother her, and the accomodations weren't terrible either. A few of her own credits helped carry things a little further.

Surprisingly, since that time a growing appreciation of working as a team has developed. Solo work gave her more mobility, but interacting with people off-mission that Kahli didn't need to fear would betray her at any moment was both relieving and even emotionally uplifting. As a result, despite her disregard toward life, Allura won't leave any of her squadmates behind. A strange sense of loyalty she views as a weakness that jeopardizes missions, but can't bring herself to let the people she doesn't just stare right through permanent fade into shadow.
