OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Alliance General Ministry Canton
  • Classification: Political assembly hall
  • Location: Fondor City, Fondor
  • Affiliation: Galactic Alliance
  • Accessibility: Accessing the General Ministry Canton is a simple endeavor now complicated by an increase in security measures on account of the Dark Empire’s attacks. The Canton can be entered from two main points: the Atrium, found at street-level at the front of the building; and the ship docks, which are suspended overhead from the outer walls of the lower Canton. Since the Galactic Senate’s relocation to Fondor, access to the Atrium has been severely restricted. Civilians unaffiliated with the Canton or senatorial staff are denied access without extensive documentation. They are allowed to travel freely along the Ministry Commons in the lower Canton after being cleared by security personnel. Access to the ship docks is also heavily restricted, limited only to senators, GADF and SIA personnel, and Fondorian officials. The upper Canton, where the new senatorial offices and Grand Assembly are located, is strictly closed to the public.
  • Description: The General Ministry Canton’s architecture, a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, symbolizes the unity and diversity of the Alliance itself. The structure's square foundation conveys stability and equality, with each corner beveled, softening its formidable presence and inviting citizens and delegates alike into its fold. This design choice not only breaks the monotony of traditional governmental edifices but also reflects the Alliance's commitment to accessibility and openness. The building is divided by an expansive staircase, distinguishing the Canton into two main levels, each serving distinct yet complementary functions. The upper Canton, accessible via this grand staircase, houses the senatorial offices. These spaces are designed for governance and diplomacy, where representatives from across the galaxy convene to deliberate and decide on matters affecting the Alliance. The layout facilitates communication and collaboration among senators, embodying the principles of transparency and collective decision-making. Conversely, the lower Canton offers a variety of amenities aimed at supporting the well-being of those who work within and visit the building. From dining halls serving cuisines from countless worlds to relaxation areas where one can meditate amidst serene, holographically recreated natural environments, the lower Canton is dedicated to nurturing the community's physical and mental health.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Atrium: The Atrium is located on the ground level of the Canton. It is a grand hall that serves as the primary public entrance to the Canton, as well as an annex by which the lower and upper levels are accessed. Banners bearing the Galactic Alliance crest and statues of planetary and national heroes can be found here as well. In the center of the Atrium is a bifurcated staircase connecting to the Ministry Commons below and the Galactic Concourse above.
  • Ministry Commons: The Ministry Commons is a smaller scale concourse than its counterpart above, serving as a common space for vendors, merchants, eateries, and leisure clubs for the Canton’s dignitaries and visitors. It is a continuous corridor that circumnavigates the lower rim of the Canton. The Commons double as both a convenient walkway and a security measure for senatorial guests, affording representatives of the Alliance access much needed amenities without the inherent security risks of exploring the city proper. This level is under a less restrictive measure of security, though entrance is still limited to authorized visitors only. It is secured by the Senate Security Force.
    • Senate Security: Senate Security is a recent addition to the lower Canton, expanded from the original, smaller security office to accommodate a much larger force of officers and agents on the premises. It includes a barrack for overnight shifts, an armory, a brig of holding cells, and a cluster of private offices for ranking officers and staff.
    • Ship Docks: The ship docks are a series of public, private, and commercial landing bays that extend from the lower Canton in a spoke-like configuration. They wrap around the exterior of the lower Canton and are accessible from several points along the Ministry Commons. Access ramps can be extended and retracted by Senate Security, making a total lockdown possible in the event of an emergency.
  • Galactic Concourse: A massive corridor that wraps around the diameter of the central Grand Assembly in the upper Canton, separating it from private offices and conference rooms. The Galactic Concourse provides an open avenue around the entirety of the Assembly for dignitaries and authorized guests to traverse. This level is restricted to senatorial staff and is under the protection of Fondor’s Honor Guards and Senate Commandos.
    • Senatorial Offices: Each senatorial office is a private suite comprising an office, a small meeting room, and personal quarters for long-term occupants.
    • VIP Offices: Positioned at each corner of the Canton are spacious condominium units designated for the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Supreme Commander, and SIA Director. These exclusive suites are larger and equipped with holomap tables, as well as a secure communication network interconnected with each other and directly linked to Coruscant.
  • Grand Assembly: The Grand Assembly resembles Coruscant's Convocation Hall, a spacious conference chamber with a central pulpit. Encircling the pulpit are fixed cubicles where representatives can engage in collaborative discussions regarding state affairs.
SECURITY
Maximum.
Following the Galactic Alliance’s monumental decision to relocate the Senate, Fondor’s General Ministry Canton was selected to serve as the new seat of the nation’s government. The protection of the Alliance's leaders is paramount, a fact treated with all due respect. High tensions, civil unrest, and the threat of infiltration resulted in a high level of security to ensure the safety of the Alliance’s leadership.
  • Bioscanners: In response to the risk of external threats, the Canton is fitted with a series of bioscanners that identify and analyze the biological composition and vital status of living beings.
  • CovOps Mark III Surveillance Units: An invaluable security measure in the Canton are the CovOps Mark III Surveillance Units, powerful security devices connected to Senate Security capable of raising alarms upon the detection of unauthorized signals within a hundred-meter radius.
  • Retractable docking stations: Docking platforms in the lower Canton can be retracted and extended from Senate Security, enabling a complete lockdown of the Canton to be initiated at will.
  • N5 sentry droids: The first line of defense in the Canton are N5 sentry droids. They are found in every protective detail and patrol on the premises, forming a bulk of the Canton’s security forces. All N-5 units are armed with non-lethal stun batons and DH-17 blaster pistols.
  • R1 security droids: Complementing their combat-oriented counterparts, R1 security droids serve the Canton as mobile watchdogs. They are equipped with low-end blasters should engaging with hostiles become necessary.
  • Senate Security Force: The Senate Security Force is an elite security division comprised of officers, guards, and commandos. They are stationed in the Senate Security office and are charged with protecting Alliance senators and staff across Fondor City.
  • Honor Guards: Fondor’s Honor Guards are an elite unit of local troopers that serve in squads of 2-4. Their primary duties include escorting senatorial staff within the Canton, monitoring entrances to the Grand Assembly and Senatorial Offices, patrolling the Galactic Concourse, and controlling access to the upper Canton from the Annex.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Located in the bustling capital of Fondor City, the Galactic Alliance General Ministry Canton is a large structure originally designed to serve as a central hub for planetary governance. The Canton's grand halls and state-of-the-art communication facilities are the nerve center for administrative and diplomatic activities on Fondor. Its architecture, a harmonious blend of Fondorian heritage and cutting-edge design, symbolizes the unity and forward-thinking spirit of the Galactic Alliance.

However, the emergence of the Dark Empire mark a pivotal chapter in the Canton's history. As shadows of war stretch across the galaxy, the building's role has undergone a dramatic transformation. In an effort to safeguard the democratic processes and unity of the Galactic Alliance, the Canton was repurposed to serve as a temporary headquarters for the Senate. Within its reinforced walls, senators and representatives from across the galaxy convene, plotting the course of resistance against the encroaching darkness and striving to maintain the ideals of freedom and justice that the Alliance stands for.
