STRENGTHS
  • Magnite Crystal Tractor Beam Array - Located at the front of the vessel around a frontal hangar is the vessel's main weapon which is theorized to be sufficently strong enough that it is capable of tearing sections of hull plating clean off of a starship or at lower settings enable it to trap and hold vessels larger than itself.
  • Starhawk - A classification intended to separate it from vessels that came before, it is defined as any large Battlecruiser that is noted as having a higher acceleration at Sublight and Light speeds as well as being more maneuverable than similarly sized vessels. This can be seen in its higher speed and maneuverability ratings compared to Capital Ships of a similar size.
  • Heavy Defenses - The overall design of the vessel ensured that it was capable of withstanding the changing tides in pitched engagements. This has resulted in a higher defensive rating due to the additional armor plating included on the hull plating as well as the inclusion of additional defensive measures and systems.
WEAKNESSES
  • Magnite Crystal Tractor Beam Array - Powerful in its own right and with the potential of tearing ships apart, however, it is limited in its use. The capacitors and power systems that keep the Array powered require time to recharge as technicians also work to realign the crystals. This has resulted in a lower rate of fire and limits how often the Array can be utilized against an enemy force.
  • Minimal Armaments - The inclusion of additional power sources and engine components resulted in the removal of weapon systems and armaments, this has, in turn, resulted in a lower armament rating than is common on vessels of this size.
  • Minimal Squadron Support - Though capable of deploying multiple Starfighter Squadrons, it is still limited in the number that it can deploy often requiring that it rely on additional Starfighter support provided by Carriers.
  • Limited Construction - The complexity and size of the vessel have resulted in fewer being produced, thus limiting the deployment of these vessels due to the limited number of Starhawks that are available.
  • Fuselage Connector - Connecting the main forward section with the aft engineering section and housing many of the hangar bays of the vessel is a connective fuselage. This area keeps the two halves of the vessel together, and sufficient damage to this area could potentially prevent the vessel from launching and recovering Starfighters, prevent the crew from easily traversing the vessel, and in the worst-case scenario result in the vessel splitting in half.
  • Hangar Entry - Located at the front of the vessel is an additional hangar from which Starfighters can be deployed. However, navigating the small corridor in and out of the area is difficult due to the sophisticated and fragile systems and damn near impossible when the Tractor Beam Array is powered and in active use.
DESCRIPTION
The first in a new classification of warship, the Alliance-class Starhawk represents a new breed of vessel put forward to bolster the Defense Forces of the Galactic Alliance and secure victory in the coming conflicts that await on the horizon. The Starhawk classification is defined as any Battlecruiser whose design favors speed and maneuverability in lieu of armaments and carrier capacity. However, due to the sheer size and complexity of these vessels, only a limited number have been produced, making them a precious resource that should not be blindly or foolishly thrown away in the pursuit of glory. The main weapon of the Alliance-class Starhawk is a Tractor Beam Array which consists of six individual projectors at the front of the vessel, arrayed around a forward hangar entry point. Each tractor beam projector is powered by a Magnite Crystal that is said to allegedly produce a beam ten times more powerful than those tractor beams on a standard Star Destroyer. This array is also theorized to be sufficiently strong enough that it could potentially tear the hull plating clean off of a starship with ease.

Utilizing the Array does come at a cost, that being in its limited use and lower rate of fire. Between activations of the array, its capacitors and power systems need time to recharge while specialized technicians work to realign the crystals or replace them as needed. Likewise, further redesigns were needed to ensure that the vessel was capable of housing this impressive array, and as the design focused on the implementation of this system, it sacrificed abilities in other sections. To ensure that the array and its power systems had the room required to operate at peak efficiency, hangar capacity was sacrificed, resulting in the vessel carrying a lower number of Squadrons than a standard Battlecruiser of its size. Further focusing on increasing the speed and maneuverability of the vessel also resulted in many of its weapon systems being replaced in favor of additional power systems and components to further achieve higher rates at Sublight and Light speeds respectively.

Located at the center of the vessel is a connective fuselage, the design of which is similar to that seen in the Nebulon-B Frigate, albeit larger. This connective section houses the majority of the vessel's hangar bays and also keeps the forward sections connected to the aft engine compartments and systems. This area is key in ensuring that the vessel remains operational, as sufficient damage has the potential to prevent the vessel from launching or recovering its Starfighters, or may make it more difficult for the crew to traverse between the two sections. Additionally, there is a worst-case scenario, in which, the connective fuselage is damaged to the point that the vessel is split in half. An additional hangar bay is located towards the front of the vessel in the middle of the Tractor Beam Array, though this hangar bay poses its own challenges as navigating the small corridor in and out is difficult; and near impossible when the Tractor Beam Array is powered and in active use.

The Alliance-class Starhawk steps forward onto the Galactic Stage to join a long line of warships that have come before it and provide the Galaxy with a new classification to add to the Anaxes War College. Focused on speed and maneuverability, the vessel serves as an insight into its designs just as much as reveals that the defense of the people is the utmost priority. Designed to fulfill this role, its powerful Tractor Beam Array more than makes up for its smaller armaments. The true test will come when the first Flag Officers command these vessels at the behest of the Galactic Alliance, and it is a test that is rapidly approaching.
