All That's Far From Us [Primeval Dominion of Belkadan]

Belkadan is far off from anywhere, a remote world located in the depths of Wild Space with mysteries aplenty.

Two starships landed on the tropical world, tall dalloralla trees surrounded the marshy clearing and the sound of wildlife filled the air with ambiance across the empty orange skies. Not too far from them, two destinations were left untouched. A vong shipyard abandoned after their great war across the galaxy, and a derelict listening post whose purposes remain unknown.

Stepping off one of the dropships, Anja was accompanied by a single guard wearing a new type of armour unlike anything else in The Primeval's arsenal.

"Let's go." She gestured towards the treeline, pale eyes glanced back and upward at the starship before her head turned to face forward.

She was heading towards the listening post, two scout ships flew overhead scanning the area. "We're reading life signatures in both... Expect a fight." The reports were sent to everyone planetside. The scout ships maneuvered effortless through the atmosphere before returning to their carrier. The Host Lord walked forward, getting into the passenger side of a Kath Hound being driven by the guard accompanying her.

The engine roared to life, wheels dug into the mud as it slowly pulled itself out and onto a sturdier surface that entered the jungle along a natural game trail.

Objective 1: Explore the abandoned listening post and recover its data. Currently held by pirates.

Objective 2: Explore the Vong shipyard and secure it. Currently infested by vongified creatures.

Note: Go nuts, no one is a dungeon master here; feel free to describe challenges for your character and those accompanying you.

Objective: Kill poachers of redcrested cougars
Location: In the jungle nearby the Listening Post

After taking over Sernpidal, the Primeval set their next sights on a nearby Outer Rim planet in which to explore and spread the influence of their religion and awareness of the Host Lord’s rule. Spellweaver Pirjo and her new padawan, Theseus exited the dropship into a jungle near the ExGal-4 listening post. They would also be meeting up with one of the Primeval’s youngest members to provide support to this personal cause of Perla’s and an opportunity to give her initiate some hands-on training.

Killing poachers of the redcrested cougar.

The redcrested cougar was a giant feline that lived in the Belkadan jungles and had nearly gone extinct in 25 ABY. But a few survived and were essentially an endangered species.

The Dathomir native had a healthy respect for nature and what threatened these animals was not drought or famine or another predator. Off-planet poachers were rapidly eliminating the cougars for the teeth and skin, jeopardizing the survival of this species. Perla decided to hunt the hunters and use these poachers as her own prey in order to teach Theseus some vital Force powers. But first she needed to find out what he wanted to specialize in.

As they stood in a jungle clearing, she turned to him. The humidity was oppressive, but she ignored the sweat which beaded on her pale brow.

“Theseus, do you have any particular skills you would like to learn on this trip?"

ExGal-4 was a myth.

Not a literal myth, of course. Because that would mean they were doing all of this for nothing and Khaleel didn’t do things for nothing, it went directly against his firm beliefs that you should always get something out of your own aid and help.

At least when you were dealing with parties like the Primeval and the Sith. They were profitable ventures, but you don’t just help ‘em out of the goodness of your heart, such things should be limited.

To entities like the Underground, the Levantine San- oh, who was Khal really kidding here? Even with them the Underlord got his due, that was simply how the world of today worked. You didn’t do things for free, and today was no exception to that. While most of the Primeval forces were focused on the frontside of the building, Khal’s own operatives were aiming at the back of the listening post.

Twoside breach to overstretch the pirates.

“I’m in position, over.” Walker would comm over to Anja.

Objective: Capture the Listening Post.

Anja rarely worked with those outside of The Primeval... The only exception really being the One Sith and to an extent the Techno Union. One of her most trusted agents--Catalys Maijora--had expressed the immense value of Khaleel and how his efforts ultimately benefited her own and with that The Primeval as a whole. If true this would make it an opportunity she could not refuse, so essentially her involvement in all of this was an evaluation... An evaluation in not only Khaleel by Catalys as well.

The unexpected news from her comlink came in, "We're on our way." The accompanying guard and driver responded on her behalf. One could suppose that might irritate someone, working with a person and then receiving word from someone else. Anja thought nothing about the matter.

Pulling up towards the compound, the Kath Hound slowed down gradually, grinding to a halt. With the buggy stopped, the Host Lord stepped out of the vehicle as did the guard. The armour design he was wearing didn't look special and it had no miraculous features but it was made of a new alloy created on Bastion. The alloy was intended to be a new type of underlay or ultralight armour to revolutionize the defensiveness of Primeval soldiers and agents, amongst others.

With the assumption that Khaleel could move on his own, Anja approached the front of the compound -- absolutely outnumbered and with no weapon at her side. Her guard did have a standard issue rifle, but he'd hardly stand a chance on his own. No pirates had spotted them yet, a group was huddled near a crate where they played pazaak. The Umbaran's footsteps were quiet, making only a brushing sound as her bare feet stepped into the moist soil of the jungle floor. Exhaling, Anja raised her hands; dark tendrils of magick energy escaped her finger tips and formed several nightmarish creatures about the size of a dog. Rushing towards the guards, the products of her Nameless Book lunged at the pirates; tearing at their throats and ripping through their steely armour. They did not leave behind the same markings as a physical creature, instead a sickness took over their flesh and blood -- turning their skin pale and insides black.

The Underlord had simply been waiting for some kind of sign, a signal that the assault was going to be happening right now - it seemed that Anja wasn’t the one to simply say that the operation was about to happen though and instead decided to attack, while hoping for the best.

Screams in the distance really made it more clear that shet was happening though.

So it wasn’t as bad as that.

“Aurek, Besh, get into position and wait for my move.”

If there was anything that Khal knew how to do? It was how to make a stylish entry, an entry that truly would be quite explosive and remarkable. All duster and steel, the man walked up to the wall, because it didn’t have a separate door here. No, that would have to be created and any other men would have simply brought a rocket launcher or two.

Maybe some explosives.

But the Underlord was different.

Kinetic energy started to gather in his hands, and he started to draw it in, while giving Anja some time to grab the attention of the pirates so they wouldn’t be as prepared for getting attacked in the rear.

Objective: Capture the Listening Post; distract some pirates.

Her illusions managed to cause enough chaos that half--if not more--of the pirates had came out to deal with the witch. Her guard found himself some cover, firing his blaster rifle at the enemies and dropping two pirates on the spot. A returned shot managed to hit his shoulder, luckily the energy did little damage to the primordial steel plate. A grin crossed the man's face as he continued staring down the sight and firing at enemies as they appeared in his crosshair.

Anja herself was not having a difficult time, despite being overwhelmed by numbers her illusions only required a limited concentration. Only a very distracting event would cause them to dissipate. One of the pirates armed with a vibrodagger charged at the Host Lord like a horned Kath Hound; noticing him in her peripheral vision and sensing him through the force, Anja took a combat stance, kicking her leg up. The assailant's neck snapped as her foot connected with his jaw, tilting his head back with sheer force. Of course he didn't break his neck, it only tore through some muscle and crushed a few of his teeth.

The downed pirate groaned in pain and frustration, surely by now the alien's world was spinning and colours flooded his sight. The loud, dire screams of fallen pirates echoed across the Jungle loud enough for all nearby to hear.

It was as if Khal was holding a tornado within himself, his every fiber was humming with the energy of the Force - waiting to be unleashed on whatever the Underlord wished to be destroyed, and at this point in time it was the wall in front of him that needed to go away.

But he needed to be careful, the Force was a powerful weapon and the last thing Khaleel wanted to do was accidently break apart the entire post with just a single blast. Which hadn’t happened before, but hearing the stories of the Throne-Breaker and the Kerrigan? Well, it seemed that such displays of power weren’t as far away as one might expect on first glance.

A blink, time slowed and adrenaline rushed through his systems.

Objective: Enter the Listening Post.
[04/20]

The sound of matter being destroyed echoed loudly from behind the Listening Post. Clearly this associate of Catalys had some power of his own, she felt the air around her tremble as if the world itself was alive and in awe. Her beats evaporated, the droves of pirates that attacked them were diminished and dying, her guard ran up to the main entrance and breached. Bolts hit his plate, doing little damage, and he returned rapid fire from his fully automatic rifle.

With the remaining pirates distracted on two fronts, Anja entered inside and took the opposite hall from her guard as he drew attention away from the woman. She had no clue where she was going but intuitions guided her, whether it was magick or the force, perhaps something else entirely, the universe guided her to where she needed be. The derelict walls were covered in moss and grime, the smell of sulfur lingered faintly in the musky air and roots protruded from the floor panels. A doorway to her left was open, a sentient inside was going through a crate of weapons before turning around at her presence. Anja gave him no chance, reaching out with her hand she constricted his throat through the force and suffocated him before finally crushing his trachea.

Her attention turned back to the continuing path that she once again walked.

Orkamaat

Of all the gods only death does not desire gifts.
[1/20]
Objective 2: Play with one's ilk
Location: Surface
Allies: Primeval, maybe [member="Auswyn Nothrael"] with that wine?
Orkamaat was, ultimately, a wanderer at heart, and to hear that they would tread upon a world he hadn't visited yet brought him more joy than he could ever hope to express. He had sought out the relevant records before their departure, reading up on the planet and its tragic history before joining the Primeval forces heading for Belkadan.

During their journey there, the priest would pray with the few willing, then spend the rest of the time making sure he had all the facts down for when they finally landed.

And land they did, just after dawn, with the odd bird still chirping high up in the dalloralla trees. The morning dew was still glistening on the leaves of the underbrush, falling off in small, coruscant rivulets as the soldiers and scouts alike passed through. The moment of peace Orkamaat had been enjoying was gone, and with a resigned sigh the anzat moved from his spot between the towering trunks, slithering into the verdant greenery with nary a sound.

Utilizing the innate skillset lent to him by the virtue of birth, the priest delved further and further into the sprawling flora of the once-ravaged planet, his own body reacting to his surroundings each time he moved. In the forest, he was lithe and quick, like the flitting a leaf disturbed by a momentary gale; in the open, the thin man was like a mist, a fog unlike the that which steams off from the wet soil once the sunrays kiss its surface; and then, in the organic, pulsating, living structure of the Vong shipyard, Orkamaat could finally be… himself.

He would slink into the building — insofar as anything that was alive could be said to have been built — moving through the half-shadows like a fleeting shade, always quick on his feet, everywhere and nowhere at once. There were secrets to be had here, and he would have them first.

Khal followed his men, but he didn’t really have to do anything anymore. Objective: Secure the Listening Post.
[05/20]

Anja continued her march through the halls, her guard had finally finished off his foes -- some of the armour plating was damaged but only minimally. The witch found herself near the room where Khaleel was, but before she could enter an ambush hit her. Swinging down in front of the woman was a steely blade that barely missed the tip of her nose; in reaction she arched back, her foot locked inside his gait and a pale hand reached out to disarm him. At first he tried to struggle, to break free but Anja reached through him with and began to shake his thoughts. The pirate wept quietly, tears slid down his cheek and her opposite hand gripped his throat.

With her new advantage she pushed into him and began walking, to keep himself upright he stumbled backwards and continually tried to break from her grip. His swordarm finally relented and the blade dropped to the floor as the two entered the room with her associate. The struggle didn't last much longer, his knees failed him and the limp pirate was released with a violent coughing followed after. Within seconds her left foot swiftly maneuvered itself and kicked him in the side of his head, knocking him unconscious.

Her eyes darted up to Khaleel and his men, at first she was ready to strike until she realized the signature she felt earlier came from him.

"Is everything clear?" She asked, her tone was calm yet remained commanding.

She wanted his respect?

Better do something to earn it, as it stood she was just another one of ‘em zealots. Perhaps one of the most important ones, but in his book Catalys was worth more than ten Anja’s.

At least Cata had some humor.

Malvern was currently browsing through the mainframe, typing some codes here and there. He wasn’t as good as Bane, Simone or Calfur, but he was getting there - was the entire beauty of being around all dem slicers the whole time.

Objective: Secure the Listening Post.
[06/20]

"Everything is secured, I just want my data." She was quick to reply, her hand went up to push a lock of dark hair behind her ear. She had a sense of strictness about her, everything was orderly, clean, and efficient. Despite the reputation of The Primeval she had never resorted to unnecessary violence, she could've killed her downed opponent easily but chose not to. There was no need.

The guard accompanying her managed to catch up, his armour had several scorch marks and some indications of melted metal from repeated shots. "Everyone is down, Your Worship." He announced the news of his successes against the pirates.

Anja nodded, "and the steel?" She was curious to know how their new alloy handled an actual battle, if successful that would mean many new doors were open to her warriors in the coming days. War wasn't easy, that was even true for the zealous Primeval who did not fear death nor loss of life. The future of her people depended on strength and progression, they may have been traditionalists but they weren't stupid. The previously, far behind forces of hers were rapidly becoming advanced and surpassing some of their rivals.

In a lot of ways Anja and Khaleel were parallel opposites, at least when it came to appearances and how they carried themselves in public. Where the Host Lord was strict, orderly and clean, Khal was all scruff, steel and duster - but both held the same air of authority, it was just showed in very different ways.

One relaxed, nonchalant, the power was easy to hold and to command. The other held it tightly, giving it no chance to move without her.

“Don’t we all.” Khal would mumble, while eyes ran across the screen. The mainframe wasn’t exactly fortified in its security, this wasn’t some kind of military complex or anything, but it still had a fairly extensive encryption - more annoying and a lot of work, than really complex though. Which is why Khal could handle this on his own and didn’t need help from the new specialists he had brought with him today.

“Whatcha looking for anyway?”

Objective: Secure the data.
[07/20]

In truth, Anja knew that if she refused he'd find out anyway when going through the data. That's what he was there for, anyway. So refusing to comply with his question would be silly, ignorant, and perhaps to a certain extent dishonest. Even if he expected that of her, she was neither of those things; she knew very well how things worked and never took pride in her position of power.

"My homeworld," she explained, "It's outside of the galactic disk, if any communication went to or from this world outpost should have records." That was it, she needn't waste any words. The nature of what she said should make it obvious as to what she was looking for. The amount of contact between this listening post and extragalactic objects would be quite limited in list and details, making specifics less important than categorization. Whether or not the records existed at all was a different story. If they didn't exist then they didn't, but if they did it would answer some questions she's had for a long time now.

Curiosity struck her, "I've told you, then... What is it you're looking for?"

Setzi Lunelle

Searching for Eleos's Altar
Objective: Breach the listening post, and retrieve data.
Others: [member="Anja Aj'Rou"] | [member="Khaleel Malvern"]

Setzi Lunelle had heard of Master Malvern's trip to Belkadan and while it had sounded dangerous, when she researched the details of the team which was going, she heard of Agent of the Bleeding Sun, Perla Pirjo’s desire to kill poachers of the endangered redcrested cougar. Thinking ahead, the padawan commissioned a shuttle to follow along, hopefully after the Listening Station was neutralized by Malvern and the Primeval Leader, and she brought a cage and a couple of animal handlers so that she and Pirjo could trap one of the animals and help re-invigorate the population of these majestic felines. The witch was a little intimidating, but agreed that this would be a good idea and let Setzi plan it.

After touching down on the landing pad, Setzi de-boarded the shuttle and sent he animal handlers to Pirjo's location. She checked in with the guards stationed outside the old ExGal-4 facility.

“The perimeter is secure,” they broadcasted into her commlink. “You can enter the listening station.”

She made her way to the entrance, noting the austere presence of the guards and their unique uniforms. This was her first exposure to the Primeval and as usual, Malvern had given her very little background and context with which to go on.

Still being escorted by one of Anja Aj’rou’s guard, the padawan made her way to the control room where Malvern was. The Host Lord, as she was called, was also nearby. Tall and statuesque, she most certainly was an intimidating figure with her dark hair, pale skin and piercing Umbaran eyes.

"Sorry to interrupt," she said. "I came to help Ms. Pirjo with her animals."

Her eyes narrowed at Khal's cigarette, but he would notice that this time, she said nothing about his bad habit.

------

Theseus thought about it. As he walked out next to his newly acquired Master Perla Pirjo. "Well although we are coming here with a specific objective. I think because I know so many telekinetic based techniques. Could you perhaps teach me how to influence and enslave the minds of my opponents?" he asked her curiously. As he looked to her and tilted his head. He had heard of her ability to tame the Rancor. Though he was not sure if that was as much a mutual respect between her and the creature, or the use of the force to influence it. Whatever the case Theseus' believed that Perla would be more then capable of teaching him how to creak his opponents will power. Opposed to breaking their body like Theseus' was accustomed to.

Theseus' would have fun on this mission. As life of the wild creatures was a thing he was passionate towards. Which meant the illegal and pointless slaughter of these creatures was something that struck a temper point of Theseus, and he was more then willing to strike fear, and unleash carnage upon these poachers. Though strangely Theseus' also was tactical and had a odd plan. That might prove efficient, though he wasn't going to let it be the primary plan. As he did see potential for it back firing. Therefore Theseus would allow his master to decide how they went about accomplishing there goal, and Theseus would improvise with his plans when convenient.

Not that Mard didn't like forests. No, they were actually quite beautiful at times. He just preferred them to be somewhat cultivated, so he didn't have to hack through them to get places. Specifically, he didn't enjoy having to hack through forests, only to get to even more dangerous places. Like Vong shipyards. But it couldn't be helped, he had his orders, and he planned to follow them to the letter. Get there, kill anything dangerous, secure the place.

Whatever order that went in. The orders were probably somewhat synergistic in nature. Kill things to get there, kill things to secure the place, secure the place to kill more things, eventually. Whatever worked. He had asked to command a smaller force, or go on solo missions after losing all his men on Wayland, since he didn't want to be responsible for any more deaths. Not of his friends, at least. So here he was, following the... unusual... priest through the jungle. His first experience with him had been on the ship, when he initiated the prayer. Mard had been thankful then, having been unsure what was appropriate in their setting. Having somebody showing the way was a good thing. Then, as well as now.

Something akin to a snake hissed to the right, and Mard made sure to move past the creature as non-threateningly as possible. He had had enough experience with snakes recently. The amphistaff he had been taking care of for a while had been unpleasant, to say the least. The ordeal was done, and he was heading towards more Vong creations. Unusual as they were for him, coming from a planet mostly untouched by the species, he had been forced to become used to them quickly in the Primeval military.

He hacked on through the underbrush, wondering how the priest ahead managed to move through it so fluidly, as if he was swimming on land.

Objective: Murderate pirates, cutely.

There were certain things that Token really enjoyed. One of them? That was tropical worlds. The other? That was learning things. And the third? Credits. But today? She was coming to Belkadan as a representative of the Primeval. Bright Star was making its credits with resorts in the South Systems. Sure these northern systems got cruise ships going through, but they didn’t need resorts up here, she didn’t think.

Plus Belkadan. There was a lot to learn here.

But first, let her take a selfie.

And have her new songsteel armor on.

And go kill Pirates. Sure, Token wasn’t the most combat oriented person, but she had friends with her. And her sonic pistol. And a lightsaber. And the Force. Granted the last wouldn’t help too much. But securing this listening post? It’d be good.

And when Token walked the surface of Belkadan, from the landing zone to the post. She was going to be going in as back up. A bit behind people who made the first push.

She heard the boom and the group she was with stepped up. Token began calling the Force to her, the witch-wannabe was starting to learn a few darker tricks. And they were being used here, now.
