Alderaan Excavation

2we9lb8.jpg
Location: Alderaan
Objective: Watch over and protect mining operation

After discussing matters with many higher ups within the Galactic Republic, it wasn't long before Ace and a team of engineers and miners were hurtling through space upon a large frigate. Given the super soldier's rank within the military, he was able to provide transportation and some funding for what he had planned. The spacecraft would pull out of hyperspace, entering the planet's atmosphere and setting itself down upon a large open field.

The grassy plains were barren, their green blades of plant-life swaying peacefully in the cool breeze. Unfortunately, nature was about to be disturbed, as many machines and workers began to exit the frigate, gathering and unloading equipment before transferring it towards a nearby mountain surface. There was a massive cavern within the terrain, and it only took a few hours before the Republic officials had set up an outpost.

Slowly but surely, they were able to set up drills and other machines necessary to begin the excavations they needed to do. Journeying down into the darkness of the caves, Ace himself would aid and guide the miners, pointing out key areas that needed to be explored and even setting up lights with them to provide better visuals. Wiring and the such were soon set up along the cavern walls, providing electricity to even the deepest deposits that needed to be mined.

Spending some time mining alongside the others in order to inspire the rest, the Captain would eventually take a break, having been informed he was needed on the surface. Seeing as this was very true, the youthful looking soldier would make his way through the caves once more, taking in a deep breath of fresh air as he walked towards the nearby generators.

Everything seemed to be in perfect order, and soon the group would hopefully come across what they sought. That being phrik, of course. A rare and powerful material that was highly resistant to energy and physical weapons alike. Beginning to patrol the area to ensure the safety of others, Ace would activate his aural amplifiers, making sure to listen in carefully for it was likely that others would be drawn by the lure of such a rare material.

The smuggling captain had few preferences in her work, one of which involved avoiding the planet of Alderaan at all costs. It was once in a rare moon that she would even venture into that region of space, and ever since her earlier dealings with the Alderaanian nobles, she was better for the wise to avoid such stuffy spaceports as Pallista itself was. Half the time, the inhabitants there looked especially down their high noses in disdain at the sight of a cyborg scrounging around on their planet, quite obviously for less-than-noble purposes no less. A very highbrow setting was not something many spacers, let alone smugglers, were allowed to enjoy. Still, the slight promise of wealth was enticing enough to lure her into the rattled mynock's nest that was the fresh mining operationto the orbit of the Core World, though it took real guts to scurry one's way through security enough to get anywhere near the precious material.ns on the planet's surface. Flying blind into the nonsense that was the ever-rampant struggle for power between House leaders in Alderaan's political games, many a private party would seek a small fortune in borrowing a bit of the rare ores that would be pulled from the soil there. And a little earworm it had been for days on the secured Holonet channels about the sudden discovery of phrik in the caverns, a juicy bit well enough to drive any thief into the orbit of the Core World.

Guts enough it took to even scurry one's way through the security of the spaceport, let alone managing the descent through the guarded lands that led down to the caverns below. And slinking through the forests, the captain thanked her lucky stars that she had managed it this far without firing one blaster bolt. A good change of the hand, she thought with an inward chuckle, a smile flashing as a grin upon her face at her own cleverness.

But a lapse of attention had led her unnoticed into nearly a trap, and in her excitement, she had not heard the sounding footsteps of a patrol. In a last minute attempt, she ducked down behind a crag of rocks, just beyond the bend, a steadied, cybernetic hand ghosting over her blaster in unease.

Having been on patrol himself, the Captain was not surprised to see the group of Republic officers who were advancing from a distance. This wasn't one of the rendezvous points of the perimeter they had set up. Either way, Ace would approach the group himself, stopping as they stood by the forest's line. It was here where the mountainous rocky terrain met grass and wildlife, and where [member="Xyl'Myrr"] was hiding nearby. Seeing as he hadn't been focusing on the area she was in, the aural amplifiers hadn't picked up the movements she had made just minutes before. Gazing upon the patrol of six, the super soldier's brow would arch in confusion, not recognizing any of the men before him.

He had a tendency to talk to and get to know those he worked with, before any missions were even started. These guys weren't his guys. The loud drills pummeling through rock in the background would continue, as the Captain leaped forward, his drawn back arm thrusting out to deliver a blow directly to one of the men's faces. Ace was sure to pull his punches, for he didn't want to seriously injure anyone. The individual would flop to the ground, rolling in the dirt due to the force of impact from Ace's fist. He was very powerful for a human, for his most of his physique had been altered via nanotechnology and some cybernetics alike. Though they were unnoticeable, for he appeared to be a regular human like any other.

After throwing the first punch, Ace was ready to follow through, ducking low as he pivoted on a foot, his other leg extended to perform a sweep upon the others. Two would get hit and fall onto their backs, leaving three others who were backing away. One pulled out a blaster, one pulled out a vibro-knife, and the other activated his shock gloves.

The hidden cyborg nearly smirked at her own dumb luck as the approaching footsteps turned away from her position. Unsurprisingly enough, it seemed a few other rogues had showed up with a special interest in the phrik being mined there. Seeing the patrolling officer throwing punches at the group of men was indication enough that she had luckily gone unnoticed. Where once her mind had been focused on the phrik, her attention now shifted to the brawl at hand. This human on patrol sure knew how to throw punches, sending most of the group to the dirt with a few tough blows. It was impressive, she had to agree ,though she winced at each contacting blow, hearing the harsh rebound of flesh on flesh as his fist hit. A streak of luck it was indeed that the officer's attention had fallen on some of her fellow criminals. A pirate's gamble it always was and she held little concern for the men who were allowing her own questionable actions to take fruit.

A moment she thought to continue her stealth into the caverns, until the whir of a vibro-knife caught her listening again. A hiss of breath in surprise slipped between her clenched teeth, her heart sinking deep. Feeling a bit sorry for the lone individual was a curious thing, and she knew she was about to regret stepping in.

The cyborg was not without feelings well enough to sympathize with a man who was clearly outnumbered and seemingly unarmed. Cursing some obscenity beneath her breath, she removed herself from behind the crag of rocks, stepping into view casually. She stepped to the side of the patrolman, flipping a heavy blaster pistol from her waist into the grasp of her cybernetic hand. Offering an embarrassed, toothy grin, the cyborg shrugged at her unexpected companion. A raise of an annoyed lip later and she addressed the squabble of fighters with a threat of her own imminent involvement.

“Didn't anyone ever teach you to pick a fair fight? Three on one isn't exactly a challenge. But maybe three on two can be considered sport enough for you scoundrels. Back down or I will put a blaster bolt keen between those eyes of yours, pal.”

After effortlessly flooring the other two thugs with a low sweep kick, Ace would quickly regain his composure, standing tall as he entered his combat stance once more. He was a master of many martial arts, and had actually decided to use Teras Kasi in this fight. Even though his enemies were not force sensitives, the formidable style allowing the Captain to utilize his speed effectively to the point it was so extreme that others could hardly keep up. The super soldier liked to think he employed strength and speed well, not a scratch on his body as he stared down the three gangsters close by. Before he could move to engage once more, someone stepped in to interfere with the situation.

At first glance the youthful looking man did not recognize [member="Xyl'Myrr"] as a Republic Official, but as she drew her pistol and aimed at the others, it was obvious as to whose side she was on. The blaster pistol wielding thug in the trio would turn frantically from the woman to the man, unsure as to how to respond as his other teammates stood their rather nervous. He would eventually lose his cool, putting his sights upon the cyborg woman and opening fire a few times. It was unlikely that he would inflict major damage, for Xyl already had him in her cross-hair. The other two however, would charge forward at Ace, their tools shining as they were activated. Lunging forward with a stab, the knife wielder would hope to slice into the Captain's abdomen, though he himself would get a slice of justice as Ace swiftly side stepped, gripping the man's wrist firmly and straightening his arm, before lifting his own knee to snap it upon impact.

The one with shock gloves was in for a surprise as well, as the Captain reached around his back to pull the shining blue shield from it's strap. Holding onto it's leather and rubber insulated grip, Ace would lift the defensive tool into place, it's pyronium-titanium alloy easily negating the effects of the thug's melee strikes. The electricity was absorbed, and thus the super soldier easily overpowered him, slamming the metallic construct into his face. He dropped like a fly, just like the duo had earlier to his sweep kick. However, while he had been occupied with the others, those two decided to recover, directing their attentions on Xyl and charging at her recklessly.

"Why Alderaan?" Ultimatum asked himself.

"Forgive the interruption, I DON'T CARE. But, you decided that it was a good place to both learn more about organics, AND KILL SOME, I mean and collect materials."

Ultimatum would have sighed, ever since accidentally creating Legion the thing had become quite a pain to speak with, an interesting pain, but a pain none the less. Ultimatum wouldn't change the droid even so, he was an intriguing personality and the first of Ultimatum's creations. It was worth the mistake, to some degree. It was often quite strange to Ultimatum, the fact that it had originally supposed to become one of his had become so different. He had turned out to be sadistic to the point of inflicting pain on organics for no reason, not even enjoyment, yet he would turn around and become this perfect protocol droid who asked for forgiveness if he so much as spoke a wrong word, often switching between the two three or four times during a given statement.

Ultimatum brought his head back into the game, as the organics saying went. His sensors only picked up plants... no wait. There, five or so organics, difficult to tell definitely thanks to the plant life. He noted that there were interactions that consisted with combat, hand to hand. Three on two. There was a fight and he couldn't tell from here who was winning or who were the good guys in the conflict. He was fortunately within fifty meters of their position, with a lot of forest shrubbery in between to hide his approach. It would be quick and soon he would join whoever was evidently in the just side, based on personal file scans.
