Intent: Jorus made me do it.

Development Thread: N/A

Manufacturer: Dissero, GLF Inc.

Name: "Manaan Memorium" Tea

Type of Consumable: It's tea.

Legal Status: Legal and fair trade.

Affiliation: GLF Inc., Sold only through Marrow & Illskins Alchemy Shops

Modularity: You could add lump sugar if you like. Or perhaps honey. It's a bit tangy and disgusting otherwise.

Homeworld (optional): Manaan (the seaweed is harvested here)

Ingredients: Dried Alchemized Manaan seaweed, Pulverized Kasha Crystal

Production: Limited - can only be purchased through Marrow & Illskins by former members of the Galactic Republic or current members of the Galactic Alliance or Silver Jedi in order to better reflect on their losses and defeat, to heal from these ordeals, and to strengthen the body and mind for upcoming wars.

Strengths:

  • Clarity of mind - pulverized Kasha Stones have added a layer of mental cleansing to this tea. After imbibing the user feels the effects within only a few minutes.
  • Clarity of body - as part of the inherent powers of the superfood seaweed, the plant has several properties to it that are good for the body; detoxifying agents help eliminate free radicals; a digestive aide; as a health tonic to help clear inflammation; and lastly as an overall health-food supplement when ingested on a regular basis. These properties have been heightened through the alchemization process for higher potency but do not provide anything like magical healing powers.
Weaknesses:
  • Due to the process by which the seaweed is alchemized, not only does it trap and concentrate the inherent value of the seaweed itself, but an unforeseen by-product has also managed to capture a strange occurrence of sad and morose feelings as would be expected from such a planet that has seen great suffering, destruction, and loss. Drinking this tea will make you sad.
  • Coupled with the lingering empathic side-effects of the seaweed, the Kasha stone's mental clarifying agents help the drinker to become not only sad, but reflective while their mind is open to recall memories that mayhaps had been locked away or lost and forgotten over time. This can be detrimental to those who may not be ready to revisit said memories, but could also be therapeutic for others. What's important to remember is the drinker cannot truly control what memories might be accessed and so could cause themselves more harm than good in the process.
  • Terrible taste. Like many teas that are very good for you, this one is not meant to be enjoyed, per say. Unless you happen to be a plant-chewing herbivore that likes the taste of seaweed, you'll not like the taste of this tea. Guaranteed.
Method of Consumption: You drink it. Hot or cold.

Average Life: Up to three hours from the commencement of consumption depending upon the concentration of the tea mixture itself.

Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: Typical health benefits that one would find from consuming seaweed. Potential allergic reactions for those possessing of an allergy to the main ingredient.

Description: The first of what will likely become a series of herbal, holistic, medicinal, alchemized teas, Manaan Memorium was a tea made by accident. As an avid tea-drinker himself, Dissero was already privvy to the health benefits of consuming seaweed. Ordering several large batches of dried seaweed from Manaan, he sought to make a tea where he might enhance said benefits for the drinker and wound up with a rather sad result. At first he couldn't be certain that the emotions he felt while drinking the tea was an effect of the tea itself - having already been in a rather nostalgic and reflective state of mind while working, the man did not give it much thought until giving the tea to his associate, Mahet the Noghri, to try as well.

Dissero could not recall ever seeing a Noghri cry before, but low and behold it happened.

Stumped but thoroughly intrigued, the man set to researching. What he turned up was a rather sad series of events that had seen Manaan invaded and destroyed on multiple occaisions. After a short visit and some time to meditate on the sea-covered planet, Dissero came to the conclusion that the sea and its subsequent flora and fauna were saturated by the energies and emotions that had consumed their home strongly and repeatedly for the last decade or more, and more specifically that of the second invasion of Manaan by the One Sith Empire wherein Ahto City was sunk for a second time, several notable Jedi were gravely wounded, fell to the darkside, or were lost in battle, and millions of people died.

It proved to be a very interesting turn for his concoction. Rather than discard and start over, Dissero sought to strengthen the effects. He took Kasha stones and pulverized them into a super-fine powder that, while not water soluble would be fine enough to imbibe without notice and would be passed through the digestive track without any harm.

The result was a tea that gave the drinker a clear, free mind to explore feelings of heartbreak, regret and sadness and revisit memories without interference of the conscious mind. The residual taste of sadness, despair and defeat can be found on the palette of the tea itself - salty, unsettling, and more than a hint of painful tang. Those who imbibe and meditate are granted an uninhibited journey through regretful decisions, sorrowful memories, or upsetting events and allowed to freely think, mourn, grieve, and come to terms with them. He found with further testing that some subjects were even capable of uncovering memories long since forgotten or forcefully buried deep in their subconscious. It provided a means of catharsis and healing for some while others were not yet capable of handling their experience, though he later noted that had a Psychologist been in attendance things might've gone better for them.

There is a warning on the label of the tea concerning this.

The tea leaves consist of dried and alchemized kelp from Manaan, chopped and covered in pulverized Kasha stone granules. Packaged in a 16oz jar, a single wooden scoop can be found within. A full scoop = 1 serving/cup. 3 scoops to a pot. The user can choose to go a less-or-more concentrated route.

So far as How-to-tea goes, Dissero leaves that up to the buyer. But if they are curious they can pick up a small pamphlet on the traditional approach.
