Jedi Master Alaric Veyn

Age: Mid 50's

Species: Human

Gender: Male

Height: 1.88 meters

Weight: 84 kilograms

Force Sensitive: Yes

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Alaric Veyn is a tall, broad-shouldered man whose presence carries an effortless calm. Time has marked his face with fine lines earned through years of service rather than age alone, while long dark hair streaked with silver rests neatly behind his shoulders. His clear blue eyes are attentive and thoughtful, possessing the quiet confidence of someone who has witnessed both triumph and tragedy without allowing either to harden him.

He dresses in practical Jedi robes beneath a weathered traveling cloak, favoring garments designed for long journeys rather than ceremony. His lightsaber hangs openly at his belt, not as a threat, but as another tool carried by a man who hopes never to need it.

Although he moves with measured grace, there is unmistakable strength beneath his gentle demeanor. When action becomes necessary, every movement is deliberate, economical, and precise.

INVENTORY:

  • Lightsaber
  • Well-used Jedi robes and traveling cloak
  • Survival pack
  • Medical supplies
  • Commlink
  • Datapad containing journals and historical research
  • Personal holocron containing years of observations and teachings

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS:

Alaric is patient, compassionate, and quietly courageous. He believes that the purpose of a Jedi is not to seek conflict, but to stand between danger and those unable to protect themselves. While naturally gentle, he possesses a quiet resolve that allows him to make difficult decisions without hesitation when innocent lives are at stake.

Unlike many Jedi, Alaric places little importance on prestige or rank. He values wisdom above doctrine and believes that every individual deserves to be judged by their actions rather than their affiliation.

He encourages questions instead of demanding obedience, seeing curiosity as one of the Force's greatest gifts. During Lumiya's apprenticeship, he rarely gave her direct answers, instead helping her discover them for herself.

Though peaceful by nature, he rejects the belief that pacifism alone can preserve peace. Violence is never desirable, but neither should good people abandon others to those willing to wield it. To him, courage is not the absence of fear; it is choosing to act despite it.

STRENGTHS:

Calm Under Pressure:
Remains composed even in dangerous situations, allowing him to make clear decisions when others panic.

Master Duelist:
An accomplished lightsaber combatant who fights with exceptional precision and restraint, ending conflicts as quickly and cleanly as circumstances allow.

Wisdom:
Possesses decades of practical experience, often recognizing dangers long before they become obvious.

Teacher:
Draws out the strengths of others through patience, encouragement, and quiet guidance rather than criticism.

Force Insight:
Highly attuned to the Living Force, allowing him to sense emotional undercurrents and perceive possibilities others overlook.

WEAKNESSES:

Self-Sacrificing:
Places the safety of others ahead of his own, sometimes accepting risks that wiser individuals would avoid.

Protective:
His concern for his students and companions can influence his judgment, particularly where Lumiya is concerned.

Distrust of Institutions:
Years of witnessing political failures have left him skeptical of governments and large organizations, preferring individuals over bureaucracy.

Carries Burdens Alone:
Believes some responsibilities should not be shared, often withholding his own struggles to spare others.

HISTORY:

Alaric Veyn served as a Jedi for decades, though never one particularly interested in prominence. He spent far more time traveling the Outer Rim than attending councils, choosing to settle disputes, protect isolated communities, and recover forgotten knowledge rather than involve himself in galactic politics.

It was during these travels that he encountered a quiet, timid young Force-sensitive named Lumiya Dara.

Where many instructors might have seen only hesitation, Alaric recognized extraordinary compassion. He believed the Force did not need another warrior nearly as much as it needed healers willing to remain beside those everyone else had forgotten.

Their years together were marked less by combat than by relief missions, negotiations, and countless acts of quiet service. Though he ensured Lumiya learned to defend herself, he never encouraged her to seek battle. Instead, he taught that true courage often meant staying with the frightened after everyone else had drawn their lightsabers.

A few years ago, Alaric accepted what he described only as a dangerous mission. Believing the task too perilous for his Padawan, he left Lumiya behind with a promise that he would return.

He never did.

No body was recovered. No distress signal was received. Only silence.

Lumiya has continued searching ever since, refusing to believe that certainty can be built from absence alone. Until she learns otherwise, she still considers herself his Padawan, convinced that a teacher who never dismissed his student cannot truly have left her behind forever.
