  • Name: Akk Anoobas
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Origins: SyntheTek Laboratory
  • Average Lifespan: 15–25 standard years (maturity reached at 1–2 years)
  • Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary (Multiple larger populations found within numerous star systems)
  • Description: Akk Anoobas are genetically engineered pack predators that combine the Force-attuned ferocity of Akk Dogs with the hunting prowess of Anooba. Muscular, quadrupedal reptomammals with dark gray-black fur over crimson-orange scales, prominent chin tusks, spinal spikes, and a long braided tail, they hunt in coordinated packs using powerful jaws, claws, and raw strength. Their thick hides resist blades and energy weapons, making them prized as loyal yet deadly companions for those strong enough to earn their respect.

  • Breathes: Type I atmosphere (Standard Oxygen-Nitrogen Mix)
  • Average Height of Adults: 1.0–1.3 meters at the shoulder
  • Average Length of Adults: 2.5–3.2 meters (nose to tail tip)
  • Skin color: Dark gray to black scaled hide with crimson-orange accents along spines and limbs
  • Hair color: Thick, coarse dark gray to black fur covering much of the body, with heavier patches along the spine
  • Distinctions:
Akk Anoobas possess a hybrid physiology merging Akk Dogs reptomammalian traits with Anooba canine features.

They have powerful quadrupedal bodies with muscular builds, shovel-sized splayed claws on broad paws, and strong jaws lined with triangular teeth capable of crushing durasteel. Prominent chin tusks more developed in adults jut from a pronounced lower jaw for stabbing prey, while a long, armored, muscular tail often braided in appearance provides balance and whipping strikes.

Six vestigial horns form a triangular pattern on the head, paired with armored, lidless eyes and olfactory pits. A dense spinal crest of sharp spikes runs from neck to mid-back. Their scaly hide is exceptionally tough, offering resistance to lightsabers and blasters. Males tend to be larger with more pronounced spikes and tusks used in dominance displays; females are slightly sleeker with subtler patterning.

Juveniles have softer scales, shorter tusks, and less developed spikes that harden with age. Older specimens show scarred hides, blunted tusks, and faded coloration. Regional variants are minimal, though desert-adapted packs trend toward grayer tones while jungle-feral groups show richer crimson accents.
  • Races: None
  • Force Sensitivity: Low (Some members retain partial Force attunement from Akk dog heritage, allowing limited bonds with handlers)

Strengths:
  • Lightsaber Resistance: Lightsaber-resistant scaled hide and spinal spikes from Akk dog lineage grant superior protection against blades, blasters, and physical trauma.
  • Pack Hunters: Exceptional pack coordination and tracking ability inherited from both Akk dogs and Anoobas combined with chin tusks and powerful jaws make them highly effective at overwhelming prey through group ambushes.
  • Partial Force Connection: Partial Force sensitivity enables strong empathic bonds with skilled handlers, improving loyalty and battlefield coordination.
Weaknesses:
  • High Aggressiveness: Highly aggressive pack mentality causes them to challenge or turn on any handler showing weakness or injury.
  • Tusk Vulnerability: Chin tusks, while deadly, are vulnerable targets that can be damaged or broken, reducing combat effectiveness.
  • Climate Restrictions: Prefer arid or rugged environments; prolonged exposure to humid or cold climates leads to discomfort and reduced stamina.

  • Diet: Carnivore. They prefer fresh meat from warm-blooded prey, using chin tusks to impale targets before tearing them apart with claws and fangs. Packs share kills according to hierarchy. Scavenging occurs when necessary. Poisonous to them: many synthetic tranquilizers and certain desert toxins that disrupt their hybrid metabolism.
  • Communication: Deep growls, fearsome barks, howls, jaw snaps, and complex body language ear positioning, tail whipping, spike raising. No spoken language or telepathy.
  • Technology level: None (non-sentient animals)
  • Religion/Beliefs: None
  • General behavior:
Akk Anoobas are highly social pack hunters that travel in groups of 8–12 individuals, fiercely defending territory and coordinating attacks through instinct and limited Force attunement. They are primarily crepuscular/nocturnal, most active at dawn, dusk, or night when their senses give them an edge in deserts or rugged terrain.

Mating occurs seasonally with males competing for dominance; females raise small litters in hidden dens, with the pack assisting in protecting and training the young. They interact with other species mainly as predators or rarely loyal companions once bonded.

They show no interest in building or inventing but excel at tracking and guarding. Once tamed typically by raising from pups or proving dominance they form deep, dog-like loyalty to a handler, making them exceptional guard animals, bounty hunter companions, or arena fighters for criminal organizations.

Akk Anoobas were deliberately created in the SyntheTek Institute classified xenobiology labs with full funding and logistical support from the The Trade Federation |:| 900 ABY. The project launched shortly after 900 ABY to engineer a superior guard and hunting beast combining Akk dog durability and Force-bonding with Anooba pack aggression for syndicate and security use.

Hybridization faced major challenges, including 85% embryonic rejection from conflicting reptomammalian and mammalian biologies, metabolic instability, and partial loss of Force traits. Multiple gene-editing cycles and accelerated maturation in simulated environments were required for stability. The species was named Akk Anooba to reflect its parentage.

Limited runs were tested on client worlds. Escapes during a 900 ABY breach established feral populations. By the mid-902s ABY they had spread via black markets, becoming valued assets for bounty hunters and crime lords due to their durability, pack tactics, and bonding potential.
