[SIZE=10pt]Akeema was adopted when she was just a baby by an Ithorian couple who fell in love with Shili on their multiple visits. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10pt]Akeema’s adopted mom decided to stay on the Togruta home-world to set-up a zoo. She also wanted her daughter to grow up and experience her native planet instead of growing up mostly isolated on an Ithorian herd ship. Her father continued with the herd ship, traveling away from the girls, sometimes for months at a time. The mandalorians in the area were also becoming more and more aggressive, which made it difficult for her father to visit as often as he wanted. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10pt]Once, Akeema went to travel with her father for a month on the herd ship. The young girl quickly decided she had a large distaste for space travel and it wasn’t because she was the only togruta on-ship. She missed the warm sun on her orange-tan skin and the sand, dirt, and colorful grasses between her bare toes. Most of the time, she helped her mother with the zoo. The togruta had a knack for knowing what the animals wanted, as if she could communicate with them. Like all togruta, she also had something akin to echo-location with her lekku, very aware of her environment and movement around her. [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10pt]It was no surprise when Akeema came to share her mother’s passion for animals of all sorts – extraordinary and ordinary alike. The young togruta shared bonds with all the animals, even the wild ones in the grassy plains her mother warned her about. But there was one she shared a special bond with, a tailring who’d been rescued by her father on one of his herd ship trips. The little dragon “Patch” immediately bonded with Akeema, going with her everywhere, even in the refresher sonic – much to Akeema’s chagrin.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10pt]As Akeema approached eighteen, she became more adamant about exploring beyond their little nook of the galaxy and rescuing, discovering, and saving animals on new worlds and places. But like any teen, she needed a job and decided to join a traveling veterinary clinic – until she saved up enough credits to build her own practice and set out on her own.[/SIZE]
