AIRA-00 MINOTAUR GAUSS RIFLE
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Minotaur was designed as a longer range engagement sort of weapon, effectively a DMR. Through years of innovation and technological advancement, the position of polarizing elements and materials used in manufacturing the weapon worked to increase the relatively low range of weapons of this kind, specifically the notable and archaic Wookiee bowcaster. Jumping off from that baseline and evolving into actual rifles, the Minatour was expected to be used within urban settings and was to be used against dug in positions, for when the slugs struck something solid, it wasn't just dirt, rocks and metal that flew up into the air, but plasma that could burn, sear, and in extreme cases, maim hostiles who were covered in its hot energy.
Made in limited numbers on account of its expensive and exotic nature, the Minotaur is a weapon reserved for a specific Black Ops Unit, AIRA. Its type never before used by the likes of either Imperial nation in widespread quantities, it allows the users of this weapon to maintain a modicum of intrigue and mystery behind who they serve, or if the owners are truly independent or not. Where most weapon plants mark and number their weapons to distinguish who uses them, the weapons hold no unique markings to differentiate them, nor do they hold a similar design style to any nation in particular.

- Enhanced Muzzle Brake.
- Plasmatic Weapon Damage: Taking from the design of the ancient bowcaster, the slugs pack an energy sheathed punch that is quickly followed up with kinetic power that could throw any unbalanced or unprepared victim off of their feet if they weren't paying attention. When fired rounds hit solid targets, fiery plasma is spread on contact, adding additional threat and lethality to both armoured and unarmoured hostiles.
- Anti-Ion Mesh: Sealed around the interior casing of the rifle to work in controlling the magnetics used, the anti-ion mesh serves to prevent random discharges of energy and to conduct the energy the weapon sheds safely.
- Overheating: Although the weapon is not capable of firing at an extremely high rate of fire, it is not recommended to repeatedly pull the trigger on semi-auto, due to the nature of the weapon it'd cause the interior coils to overheat and at best shut the weapon down and needing to be met with repairs, or its coiling explodes and causes an internal plasma leak, permanently damaging the weapon.
- Shorter Range: The nature of the standard ammunition used cause the slugs to obey the laws of gravity faster than typical rounds fired. The optimal range for the slugs are thus lesser than more archaic slugthrowers, restricting the theatres of battle the weapon can excel in.
- Power Weapon: The magnets used in polarizing the bullets will eventually be de-gaussed from constant usage and will require special replacements. The weapon's accelerating propellant system will thus become unuable and the weapon useless.
- Two-Handed: Although meant for urban and military positions if caught inside corridors with this weapon, due to its two handed nature for optimal use, movements tend to be well telegraphed to the trained eye on where and how a user will maneuver the weapon, especially when turning corners. It also makes it extremely difficult to fire off at a hostile if one arm is otherwise disabled, whether grappled or otherwise inoperable.
