SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Building off the design of the AI-800 "Aureal' Combined Energy Bow, the Surrak utilizes much of the same technology in its base construction. The weapon has a more focused variance in its projectile types as detailed below:
    • Energy Arrows
      • Standard - An energy arrow that has enhanced damage output due to the Sianteria used in the bow's power pack.
      • Overclocked - An unstable energy arrow is produced that explodes on contact.
      • Explosive - An unstable energy arrow is produced that discharges plasma when it strikes a target, burning through the surface or energy field it impacts against.
      • Sniper - A thin energy arrow is produced that can travel further distances, striking targets across the battlefield.
      • Scatter - An unstable energy arrow is produced that, when released, breaks apart into four smaller energy projectiles.
    • Nanite Arrows
      • Standard - A monomolecular-edged tip allows it to pierce through many types of armor.
      • Fletchette - When this arrowhead nears a target, it will splinter into a swarm of four to eight smaller projectiles, depending on the length and thickness of the original arrow.
      • Explosive - When this arrowhead is fabricated, the molecular furnace creates a small amount of detonite within the arrowhead, and when it impacts on a target, the kinetic force is transferred to it, and it explodes in a 2-meter circumference.
      • Armor-Piercing - When this arrowhead is fabricated, it creates a barbed tip designed to specifically punch through tougher armors such as beskar or phrik to a limited degree, depending on the thickness of the armor.
      • Ionic - When this arrowhead is fabricated, it creates a nanite-tipped arrowhead that is charged with ionic energy that is useful for dealing with droids and other automated enemies such as drones or turrets.
  • The quiver issued with the bow utilizes Aurora Industries' miniaturized molecular furnace to fabricate the nanites needed to create the various arrows and arrowheads the user can fire. To fabricate arrows, the user only needs to place a chunk of material and the furnace will break it down and reconstruct it into the base nanites. By using either a connected HUD or a control pad located on the standard issue bow glove, the user can cycle through and create the desired arrow(s) and arrowhead(s). At any Aurora Industries kiosk or facility, or if the user is skilled in technical modifications and the buyer can personalize and even create new arrowheads for their own personal use.
  • In case the power packs and nanites run out, in the heat of combat, the bow itself can be used as a melee weapon as the edges of the bow have a trimantium and mullinine edge. The wielder of the bow can also activate a monomolecular energy chord that runs along the mullinine edge for additional melee capabilities and ability to slice through objects in a similar manner as a petar.
STRENGTHS
  • Like all Aurora Industries' weapons, the Surrak has a great deal of versatility for its wielder, allowing them to deal with multiple situations on the battlefield with a high degree of stopping power in various formats.
  • The quiver of the bow, using a molecular furnace, can generate nanites that create the various physical arrows and arrowheads. The quiver is connected to the bow glove's control pad for ease of fabrication but can also be connected to a user's helmet HUD or even ocular cybernetics.
  • The Surrak can be used as a melee weapon if needed due to its trimantium, mullinine edge, and activatable monomolecular energy chord.
WEAKNESSES
  • Due to being a bow weapon, the Surrak's rate of fire is only as fast as the wielder can string the arrow, whether it be energy or nanite, into position and fire it.
  • If the quiver runs out of nanites, it cannot generate the physical projectiles until the wielder places materials into it and the quiver is given time to breakdown and reassemble the material into more nanites, a process that can take between a couple of seconds to several minutes depending on how many arrows have been used previously.
  • While Sianteria plasma is stable, if the power pack is overloaded or shot, it will still explode and likely greatly injure the target due to the plasma discharge.
DESCRIPTION

Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Gilgamesh Program, the AI-237x "Surrak" Combined Energy Bow was designed to be a second-generation upgrade to the older Auriel bow. The company, in the intervening years, had figured out how to properly harness the Sianteria plasma for its energy shots and increased its versatility to match that of the nanite-constructed arrows. Each Surrak would come programmed, through its bow glove and quiver, with far more options for nanite arrow fabrication and now being able to update design specifications through the Holonet if new arrows were created by the company.

In addition to those upgrades to the arrows, the design team for the Surrak upgraded its melee capabilities, if necessary, by installing a monomolecular energy chord that could be activated by the wielder for increased slicing capabilities on par with the kyuzo petars favored by underworld individuals. All in all, the Surrak was a perfectly acceptable iterative upgrade for the Auriel, although the design team was beginning to partner with other teams within the company for something truly next-generation once other technologies and materials were developed.
