Thousands of years ago, according to the ancient, storied histories of the Sith as read by Darth Vesper in one of Lorrd's many, many libraries, a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious was elected to the senate of the Galactic Republic. This would set in motion a chain of events that would lead to the fall of the Republic and the near destruction of the Jedi Order. In the end, the man proved a better destroyer than creator, a tattered rebel movement with scant odds annihilating twice over his legacy, but it was worth noting for one reason.

He did it alone.

In a way, his lack of reliance on anyone else encapsulated the true way of the Sith -- that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing one's own way, irrespective of who tries to stop your or wishes otherwise.

"...and though all around the galaxy, Sith prove their strength by making people serve their inefficient, corrupt governments, by ruling people through crime and punishment, true strength comes from leading people! True strength is being the person people want to be lead by!"

Standing at the podium before a jubilant crowd at the footsteps of the Lorrdian Imperial palace, Darth Vesper gave a speech full of lies so enthusiastically delivered that he nearly believed them. The truth of the matter is, 'true' anything was irrelevant. Spend enough time immersed in the culture of the Sith and one might just stop believing that truth or justice have ever existed.

He wore no mask, but a long-sleeved, dark tunic that hid the mess of surgery scars that were his arms and legs, with a pair of black gloves covering his butchered hands. His neck had a clear, smooth metallic curve that gave his breathing an odd hiss, and his voice a metallic reverberation.

"When our master, our Emperor, returns from his journeys to rule at his throne once again, what will he find? Slaves have become workers! Knowledge has been put to use! Industry, research, and study that start on this planet will spread change through the whole Galaxy! We will show them the meaning of loyalty, of patriotism, of respect for one's leaders and one's nation!"

Pause for applause. Smile. Gesture like you're trying to catch a fly out of the air or something. They'll love it. It's not like it's easy to top the approval ratings of a man who had dissidents executed. Then again, maybe that's because there weren't any dissidents left.

"So, it is with joy, with strength, with passion that I look forwards to serving as your senator to the Dominion. But before I get to work, I would like to welcome Archlord [member="Cedric Grayson"], who has graciously taken the time to speak to us, on representation and on the bright future we will build together!"

In truth, Grayson was here for research, and perhaps some in-depth discussion over tea with one of the Dominion's few Sith Lords. But he had insisted that he give a few remarks. For formality's sake, a show of unison. Grayson had never relished politics like Vesper had, but it was clear that he had skill for it.

Stepping away from the podium, he made a beckoning motion to the youth.
