PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Aeva Nightgate is slight and finely built, with pale features that give her an almost moonlit appearance. Her hair is a soft silver-blonde, worn long and loose, its natural waves framing her face and falling past her shoulders. She has light-colored eyes set beneath delicate brows, her features narrow and gently defined, with high cheekbones and a calm, unreadable expression. She wears layered robes in subdued whites, greens, and browns, practical in cut and lightly worn, cinched with straps and fittings at the waist. A dark hooded cloak rests over her shoulders, its shadowed fabric framing her head when drawn up, betraying her sephi features as her pointed ears make a distinct shape within the hood.

INVENTORY

Presently, Aeva has very little to her name aside from the clothes on her back and her old green lightsaber.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Aeva Nightgate is gentle by nature, marked by a quiet kindness that shows itself in patience, soft-spoken empathy, and an instinctive concern for others before herself. She is slow to anger and quicker to listen, often choosing understanding over confrontation even when under strain. At the same time, there is a constant undercurrent of fatigue to her, as though she is always carrying more than she lets on; stress lingers in the way she withdraws after conflict or grows subdued in crowded, emotionally charged spaces. Despite this, she remains compassionate and steady, enduring her burden without complaint, determined not to let the unseen weight tied to her twist her into something harsher than she is.

STRENGTHS

  • Deep Empathy and Emotional Sensitivity - Aeva’s bond to a severed Force echo has left her unusually attuned to emotional undercurrents around her. She notices fear, grief, and tension long before others do, and responds with genuine compassion rather than judgment. This makes her a natural mediator and a source of quiet comfort, especially to those carrying invisible burdens of their own. Her empathy is almost instinctive, shaped by millennia of unconsciously absorbing the emotional weight of the echo.

  • Exceptional Mental Resilience - Surviving as the anchor of a mass-death echo requires an extraordinary capacity for inner restraint. Aeva has learned, even without fully understanding why, how to compartmentalize pain, regulate her emotions, and endure stress without lashing out. While she is not the most aggressive or powerful combatant, her ability to remain centered under pressure allows her to resist panic, dark side influence, and emotional manipulation far better than most expect from someone so gentle.

WEAKNESSES

  • Chronic Exhaustion and Emotional Burnout - The echo tied to Aeva is always present, subtly reacting to strong emotion and conflict, which leaves her perpetually tired. Mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically. She recovers slowly from stress, avoids prolonged confrontation, and can become withdrawn after intense situations. In extended crises, this exhaustion limits how long she can remain effective before needing solitude or rest, making her vulnerable when others expect her to keep going.

  • Difficulty Prioritizing Herself - Aeva’s kindness often turns inward as self-neglect. She is accustomed to enduring discomfort quietly and tends to downplay her own needs, believing that causing inconvenience or risk to others is worse than suffering alone. This makes her susceptible to exploitation by institutions or individuals who frame sacrifice as a necessity, and it echoes the Jedi decision that sealed her away in the first place. Her greatest challenge is not learning to be strong, but learning that she is allowed to stop carrying everything by herself.

HISTORY

Personal Mission Log
Author: Jedi Master [REDACTED]
Location: Lower strata beneath Coruscant

I am recording this before submitting a formal report. I want the facts written plainly.

Padawan Aeva Nightgate and I were assigned to investigate irregular Force disturbances. These disturbances appeared in civilian areas with no military value. Each site showed the same result. High casualties. Evacuation failures. A muted pressure in the Force. No clear dark side signature.

We followed the pattern for several months. It led us underground, far below the surface of Coruscant.

We located a concealed chamber built into the oldest layers of the planet. The site was not ceremonial originally, but the Sith had changed that. It was now an ancient ritual platform used to collect and absorb the residual trauma within the force caused by negative emotion.

When we entered the chamber, the Sith engaged. Automated systems continued the final phase while we battled. We had to evaluate our options quickly. Destruction of the site would have released the condensed echo into the surrounding population. Shutdown was no longer possible.

Padawan Nightgate assisted me in attempting to reroute the containment lattice. During this effort, the echo redirected itself. It anchored to her. The pressure in the chamber ceased. The ritual failed. Aeva collapsed, put into a coma as her mind wrestled with the entity’s presence.

The echo did not display consciousness or intent, though it remained dormant and also reactive. Removal of the echo was not possible. Termination of the anchor would result in immediate release. Wakeful activity increased instability.

I ordered emergency stasis.

We attempted temporary relocation to the Jedi Temple. The Temple environment increased resonance. The echo showed signs of structural alignment. We removed her at once. The undercity provided a more stable environment. Emotional noise reduced coherence.

I couldn’t inform Aeva of the decision. She was still in a coma when the choice was made for her. I’d like to think she’d agree with the Council’s choice. My choice. I’ll never know.

I accept responsibility for this outcome. The threat was not eliminated. It was interrupted. The echo remains bound. Padawan Nightgate is the anchor.

This record should remain sealed. If Padawan Nightgate is awakened from stasis, she poses an incredible potential risk if left unchecked. The force echo is stable when she remains unconscious, but her waking state may destabilize it after some time. All knowledge of her existence aside from this record will be wiped from the archives to prevent data leaks and the possible exposure of Aeva’s location. If the Sith were to discover her existence, the consequences could be catastrophic. This record will not absolve me of my guilt, but simply tell the truth. I failed. As a Jedi, and more importantly, as a mentor. I hope she can forgive me. If I can ever find a way to remove the echo from her spirit, maybe I’ll be able to forgive myself. Until then, she will remain asleep, unaware of the changing galaxy around her.

End log.
