STRENGTHS

Medical Frigate - The Aether MF-02 is a dedicated Medical Frigate and comes equipped with numerous Bacta Tanks, Kolto Tanks, Operating Theaters, and Intensive Care Wards, as well as additional medical and patient facilities that can accommodate various species with different biological needs.

Hangar Capacity - Carrying over the design aesthetics and elements of its predecessors, these craft boast an ample hangar capacity and are capable of supporting and deploying five squadrons of Support Craft and Shuttles. The vessel also maintains a retractable docking tube that can be utilized to secure a single smaller craft to the exterior of the vessel.

Heavy Defenses - As this craft is a Medical Frigate, entailing all the duties regarding that nature, it places the care and safety of its patients and onboard physicians first. Each of these vessels is heavily defended and comes equipped with additional shield generators as well as reinforced hull plating added to key sections to further increase its defensive capabilities.

WEAKNESSES

Unarmed - The need to provide increased medical capabilities and ensure that it could support additional squadrons of medical shuttles and support craft required the removal of all weapon systems from the vessel. Due to this, the Aether MF-02 lacks any kind of offensive weaponry that would denote it as a Military Frigate.

Starfighter Escort - Due to the focus on medical support craft, these craft are incapable of fielding or supporting Starfighter or Bomber squadrons. This often requires that these vessels rely on dedicated Carriers or be issued a Starfighter Escort to fulfill any assistance that may be required to further protect the vessel when deployed into a hazardous region.

Structural Weakpoint - These craft share a similar design aesthetic to the Aether TC-F5 - itself sharing a similar design to the older EF76 Nebulon-B Frigate - and as a result, inherited the flaw involving the connector between the main forward section and the aft propulsion system. Sufficient damage to this section has the potential to render movement between the two halves unreliable or prevent individuals from traversing the section entirely. with a worst-case scenario resulting in the vessel being split into two halves.

DESCRIPTION

The Aether MF-02 continues a prestigious legacy of providing care and easing the pain and suffering of all those who find themselves in the crisp, sterile white interior of these vessels. Larger, though only slightly so, than its predecessor - the Bacta-class Medical Frigate - the MF-02 remains a dedicated Medical Frigate and was designed and equipped with multiple medical systems and facilities. Each of these vessels is known to have up to forty Bacta Tanks and twenty Kolto Tanks operated and monitored by 2-1B Surgical Droids and FX-10 Medical Assistant Droids, as well as a medical computer that further monitors and times treatments as required. This central care facility is surrounded by intensive care units, operating theaters, and recovery wards, as well as the quarters for the medical staff. This increased and continued focus on the medical capabilities, as well as ensuring an ample hangar capacity for Support Craft and Medical Shuttles, necessitated the removal of all weapon systems present in the original design, rendering the craft unarmed. Additionally, its focus on Medical Facilities and Support means that it is incapable of supporting and deploying Starfighter or Bomber squadrons, further necessitating the need to rely on dedicated carriers or a provided escort for assistance. As it shares similar design aesthetics and features of its predecessors, it has also inherited a structural weak-point - being the connecting fuselage between the forward and aft sections of the craft - and damage to this section can render traveling throughout the vessel difficult, and in a worst-case scenario, cause the vessel to be split in half. Where the Aether MF-02 truly shines is in its ability to care for a wide variety of species due to the inclusion of Ammonia Chambers, as well as climate-controlled recovery wards that can be easily altered and maintained to replicate the natural environment of a patient. The inclusion of multiple laboratories also ensures that the onboard medical staff is more than adequately prepared and able to create new treatments to provide the highest possible care for individuals on board without needing to ship them off to a dedicated Hospital Ship or Station. While these craft may not be the first vessels to arrive in a conflict zone, they will, however, be the last to leave those areas, only doing so when the last patient has been cared for.
