STRENGTHS

Salon Pod - Retaining the design and aesthetic of previous iterations, the Aether LC-C32 comes equipped with a Salon Pod that can be modified to fulfill a myriad of roles and situations as demanded. These salon pods are also more heavily defended and protected than the rest of the vessel, containing sensors, life support equipment, and powerful engines, as the pod can be utilized as an escape pod.

Starfighter Support - These vessels are known to be capable of housing, supporting, and launching a single Starfighter or Bomber squadron, which are often utilized to provide additional defensive coverage or act as an escort during transit.

Nimble - The overall design of these craft focused on speed and maneuverability, and these vessels are known to be capable of reaching high rates of acceleration at sublight, and are considerably more nimble than similarly sized vessels.

WEAKNESSES

Limited Firepower - The Aether LC-C32 is first, and foremost, a Diplomatic Vessel. Though capable of carrying a starfighter or bomber squadron, much of the heavier armaments were either removed or omitted from final installation due to the intended purpose that these vessels would serve as mobile diplomatic starships and neutral meeting grounds.

Minimal Defenses - While these vessels were designed to focus on speed and maneuverability, they are considerably lightly armored due to many of the heavier armor plating being removed in favor of more powerful engines and the systems needed to support those engines.

Aft Coverage - Each vessel is equipped with a handful of armaments, and these weapons are known to have limited coverage. Focused either directly forward or covering the port, starboard, ventral, and dorsal sectors, this means that the vessel contains a limited field of coverage toward the aft, resulting in attacks from the rear being more frequent and requiring support to cover this approach vector.

DESCRIPTION

Aether Systems reached into its extensive archives of designs and production lines when it sought to introduce a new line of vessels, only to wholly embrace the adage that if something wasn't broken, they needn't fix it, when the LC-C32 was introduced to the Galaxy. The Aether LC-C32 is little more than an exact copy of the Legation-class Light Cruiser that Aether Systems originally produced for the now-defunct Galactic Alliance, and its usefulness seems to be needed now more than ever as the Galaxy continues to spiral into conflict. Though these craft do come equipped with armaments, they are limited, and often only utilized for self-defense more than aggressive actions. Like its predecessor, the vessel can be easily modified to accommodate a wide range of species and their biological needs, with the Salon Pod also doubling as an escape pod. The LC-C32 also retained its predecessors' expanded hangar capacity and is capable of carrying a single squadron of Starfighters or Bombers to provide additional support and protection. However, the room required to maintain and house such a squadron is what resulted in the limited armaments currently present on the vessel, having been reduced to lighter variants or removed entirely. As mentioned, it is the highly modular Salon Pod that remains the greatest strength of the LC-C32, a design feature carried over from previous iterations. The Pod itself can be modified to fulfill a myriad of roles, allowing the overall role and profile of these vessels to be altered to suit the current needs. As such, these craft have the potential to serve as a Troop Transport, Command Ship for a smaller formation, or be equipped with additional armaments depending on the modification installed. With the original design of the vessel classifying it as a Diplomatic Vessel, it focused more on speed and maneuverability, and the LC-C32 is known to be capable of reaching higher rates of acceleration at sublight speeds than similarly sized vessels. This design ensures that it can easily outrun a fight or trouble rather than risk the potential of losing its precious cargo or important passengers. The introduction of the Aether LC-C32 presents a renewed attempt at opening channels of dialogue to avoid renewal of hostilities. Though lightly armed and lacking more robust defensive capabilities that would prevent it from being utilized in any main-line confrontation, its speed, maneuverability, and modularity make it a tantalizing option for Diplomats and Ambassadors as these craft begin to form the backbone of any Diplomatic Fleet launched in the name of peace and prosperity.
