STRENGTHS
  • Rapid Response - The Aether CR-51s was refitted to provide the consumer base with a rapid response vessel to be utilized in patrolling the various Star Systems that they may find themselves deployed, as well as serve in a law enforcement capacity. These craft are known for their speed and maneuverability, producing a vessel that is capable of reaching astonishing sublight and light speeds as well as outmaneuver vessels of a similar size, including their own sister designs.
  • Increased Arsenal - An additional refitting of the design saw the addition of an expanded arsenal that was included to provide additional support to larger vessels, with many of these armaments including heavier variants of standardized weapon systems.
  • Pack Tactics - These vessels are more than capable of standing on their own against an enemy; however, they are known to excel at pack tactics, making these vessels even more dangerous and a serious threat in small groups.
WEAKNESSES
  • Squadron Support - Much of the internal room of the Aether CR-51s has been utilized to prioritize engine capabilities, the inclusion of additional armaments, as well as the additional systems required for the upgraded defensive systems. Due to this, these crafts lack any dedicated hangar capacity and are also incapable of even carrying a single smaller craft.
  • Ventral Coverage - Though these craft boast an impressive arsenal, the bulk of these armaments cover the dorsal sector, leaving the ventral section with limited coverage, resulting in a relatively exposed and easily exploitable underside.
  • Bee Swarm - While these vessels are known for their expanded arsenal, increased speed, and higher maneuverability, they still have difficulty in overcoming Starfighters and Bombers. Though capable of handling small numbers, they quickly become swarmed and overwhelmed by larger formations without additional support.
DESCRIPTION
With the fall of the Galactic Alliance, the old territorial borders have faded away, and as a new threat - The Galactic Empire - looms on the horizon, many of those former Star Systems have begun to reach out for a means to protect their homes. It was the engineers of Aether Systems who worked on the Alliance Fresia-class Patrol Ship, who redesigned and retrofitted the Aether CR-51 series to produce the most recent variant. This resulted in a craft that not only had an impressive arsenal and defensive capabilities, but was also noted to be capable of achieving an impressive acceleration and speeds at Sublight when compared to the other designs of the CR-51 production line. While these crafts were designed to stand on their own against an enemy, and are more than capable of doing so, they are also known to excel at pack tactics, often making these vessels even more dangerous and a serious threat in small groups.

However, as the focus was placed on increasing the capabilities of these vessels by prioritizing engine capabilities, including additional armaments, and installing the additional systems required for its updated defensive systems, it came at the cost of its internal capacity. This means that the Aether CR-51s is incapable of supporting or deploying any Starfighter or Bomber Squadrons, nor is it capable of supporting even a Support Craft Squadron. Likewise, it even lacks the capacity required that would allow it to support a single smaller craft that other similarly sized vessels may be capable of carrying. And, while these vessels are known for their impressive array of armaments, increased speed, and superior defensive capacities, they still have difficulty in overcoming Starfighters and Bombers; sufficient numbers can easily swarm and overwhelm these vessels without additional support.

Each design of the CR-51 production series is well known for the individual strengths and weaknesses of their individual design. It is only when they are together that their true strengths present themselves, as they complement one another's strengths and weaknesses when working together. While the CR-51s is an impressive vessel, more than capable of standing on its own against all but the heaviest of Frigates and Capital Ships, it proves to be all the more dangerous and that much more of a threat when coupled with the other designs from the CR-51 production series.
