STRENGTHS
  • Squadron Support - The design of these craft includes an expanded hangar capacity that allows the Aether CR-51c to support and deploy up to two full squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers, as well as support and deploy a singular squadron of Support Craft or Unarmed Shuttles.
  • Increased Mobility - These craft are known for achieving increased speed and acceleration at Sublight as well as for their mobility and ease with which they can execute complex or last-minute maneuvers.
  • Troop Transport - Each vessel was designed to allow for a small contingent of troops to be carried and rapidly deployed, allowing these craft to assist in rapidly deploying forces to secure a recently claimed position or to reinforce a beleaguered allied position.
WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Armaments - The Aether CR-51c was not designed to serve as a mainline warship and is only equipped with a minimal armament. Though capable of handling smaller vessels and starfighters on its own, it would require multiple of these craft to prove a threat to a larger vessel such as a Frigate or Light Cruiser.
  • Ventral Coverage - While these craft boast a limited though impressive arsenal, the bulk of these armaments cover the dorsal sector, leaving the ventral section with limited coverage, resulting in a relatively exposed and easily accessible underside.
  • Limited Defenses - Designed with a focus on speed and maneuverability, these craft are considerably lightly armored as many of the heavier armor platings have been removed in favor of more powerful engines.
DESCRIPTION
While vast armadas filled with massive Warships and Capital Ships have their place in the ongoing conflicts that consume the Galaxy, these are not the only important vessels that we find serving in various navies as Interstellar Powers strike at one another. Often, it is these smaller vessels that can assist in turning the tide or securing the borders of a nation to prevent unrest or criminal elements such as piracy from running rampant. The engineers and designers of Aether Systems sought to create a vessel that would assist those nations that struggle to maintain and secure their internal routes whilst their navies are pressing forth, resulting in the creation of the Aether CR-51c. These crafts are often associated with a classification of vessels known as 'Pocket Carriers', with each vessel boasting an increased hangar capacity allowing these craft to support and deploy up to two full squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers, as well as supporting an additional squadron of Support Craft or Unarmed Shuttles.

However, this increased capacity has come at a cost, as the Aether CR-51c is equipped with a limited arsenal, as any additional weapon systems and capacitors were removed. An unintentional design flaw of these vessels can also be seen in the location of the remaining armaments and the limited coverage that they provide to the vessel. As such, the ventral section of the vessel is much more easily approached due to this limited coverage, leaving the section relatively exposed. While these craft are more than capable in the role in which they are intended to be utilized, it is highly suggested that these vessels not be thrown at heavier warships or against overwhelming starfighter squadrons due to the limitations of both the armaments and defenses.

Where the Aether CR-51c truly shines can be seen in its increased mobility, as these vessels are known to achieve increased acceleration and speeds at Sublight, and can be easily maneuvered to execute complex or last-minute maneuvers that other, similarly sized vessels might have trouble accomplishing. Overall, the Aether CR-51c provides a readily available and easily mass-produced pocket carrier that excels just as much as a Light Escort craft as it does as a Patrol Carrier.
