Description: The QQ series, typical of the Silk Family of Companies, has its latest incarnation in the QQ-571/1C3 sonic visualization eyepiece. The eyepiece is designed to interpret and extrapolate sounds, and create a visual overlay which permits the wearer to see sound. The eyepiece's depiction is far from exact, as no such technology exists on the open market at this level of production so far as the manufacturers are aware.
One of its more interesting uses is the counteraction of sonic stealth devices. Though advanced sonic stealth devices may partially or fully counter the sound of a shot, the QQ eyepiece is capable of interpreting the subtle but straight-line sound signature made by a slug, arrow or blaster bolt after it exits the stealth field. This renders sonic stealth devices virtually useless if one is daft enough to shoot out of them.
The QQ eyepiece can detect and interpret sounds at a variable distance, depending on volume and environment. For dampened gunshots and footsteps, its range is thirty meters in a standard level of ambient noise. For breathing and stealth footsteps, its range is ten meters in a standard level of ambient noise. An onboard processor differentiates between the distinctive sounds of footsteps and so forth, filtering out ambient and random noise, and prioritizing as necessary. The processor will dial down or deactivate the eyepiece's sensitivity if overwhelmed by a large number of ambiguous sonic contacts.
Although the eyepiece comes with its own wearable mounting, it is easily integrated into a variety of helmets, at the expense of whatever sensor/HUD gear that helmet might have in its eye. Notably, it is compatible with the Tenloss Warrior Helm.
For those with money, it is best paired with Kusk Chwukkun biotech contact lenses.
