  • Permissions: Not Applicable.
  • Primary Source: Droid Brain Category, BRT Supercomputer
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Trade Federation |:| 900 ABY
  • Affiliation: The Trade Federation |:| 900 ABY
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: ACM-Series Autonomous Compartment Matrix
  • Modularity: Limited Modification Program Installed
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Duranium-durasteel alloy housing, reinforced quantum encryption cores, neural-fiber interface lattices, redundant isolated processors, and self-repairing conductive lattices.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Compartmentalized Subsystem Modules: Each major ship compartment or section maintains its own dedicated, self-contained automation module that independently manages local subsystems ( life support, weapons, engines, sensors, etc )
  • Bridge Override Command Link: Authorized bridge officers can issue real-time commands to any compartment module remotely, allowing centralized control without physical crew presence in each section.
  • Isolation Lockdown Protocol: If a compartment module detects unauthorized access, internal hacking, or bridge compromise, it automatically severs all external command links and locks down to prevent lateral movement across the ship.
  • Redundant Local AI Oversight: Each module features a limited Battle Analysis Code framework capable of autonomous operation and basic decision-making through if bridge communications are lost.
  • Seamless Integration: Designed to layer over existing ship systems with minimal structural modification, compatible with standard deflector and power grids.
STRENGTHS
  • Massive Crew Reduction: Dramatically lowers the number of crew members needed to operate large vessels, freeing up personnel for other duties or allowing smaller crews to manage significantly larger ships.
  • Enhanced Compartment Security: Strong isolation protocols prevent a single breach even from the bridge from compromising the entire vessel, limiting damage from boarding actions or internal sabotage.
  • Rapid Response and Redundancy: Local modules can maintain critical functions independently during communication blackouts, damage, or jamming, improving overall ship survivability.
WEAKNESSES
  • Vulnerability to Sophisticated Hacking: Highly advanced slicers or droid infiltrators can potentially override individual modules if they gain physical access, though lockdown limits spread.
  • Reduced Tactical Flexibility: Over-reliance on automation can lead to slower or less creative responses in highly unpredictable combat situations compared to well-trained organic crews.
  • Power and Maintenance Overhead: The numerous isolated modules increase overall power draw and require regular diagnostic maintenance to prevent cascading software faults.
DESCRIPTION

Developed by the Trade Federation's Advanced Defense Research Division in 900 ABY, the ACM-Series Autonomous Compartment Matrix was created to address the growing strain on organic crew availability across the Federation's ever-expanding fleet of capital ships and superfreighters.

Rather than relying on a single centralized computer core vulnerable to catastrophic failure or takeover, the ACM employs a decentralized network of robust, independent modules, one for each major compartment or functional zone of the vessel.

Each module autonomously governs its assigned subsystems, such as local power distribution, weapons batteries, hangar operations, or environmental controls while remaining in constant encrypted communication with the bridge.

Bridge officers can issue high-level commands that are executed locally, eliminating the need for large teams physically stationed throughout the ship. This allows a single large vessel that once required thousands of crew to operate efficiently with only a few hundred.
