Acier Moonbound
Wandering Wolf
SPECIAL FEATURES
Constructed sometime after his first duel with the Dark Side Elite
Remowa
, Acier Moonbound's shoto lightsaber was born not from hard earned necessity. During their duel, Remowa's lightwhip dictated the flow of combat, forcing Moonbound constantly onto the defensive. Though the fight ultimately ended without resolution, the encounter revealed a dangerous truth: even the strongest blade was not the answer to every opponent, and some enemies required different tools.
In the aftermath, Acier began assembling a secondary lightsaber from salvaged components gathered during his travels. The result was a compact shoto, crude compared to his primary weapon but no less purposeful.
The hilt bears the unmistakable marks of improvised construction. Mismatched metal plates, exposed fasteners, and layered grip wrappings suggest a weapon assembled piece by piece rather than forged as a single design. Thin slotted vents along the chassis reveal the faint violet glow of the kyber crystal within, the purple blade reflecting the turbulent balance Acier now walks between discipline and fury.
Despite its rough appearance, the shoto fulfills a specific role. Wielded in Acier's off-hand alongside his primary lightsaber, it provides defensive coverage, disrupts unconventional weapons such as lightwhips, and allows him to compress the space between himself and his opponent.
- Kyber crystal core
- Focusing lens
- Energy channel emitter
- Power cell
- Magnetic blade containment field
- Compact Shoto Blade: Shorter blade length designed for close-quarters combat and off-hand use.
- Improvised Construction: The hilt is assembled from salvaged components and repurposed lightsaber parts rather than a unified chassis.
- Exposed Kyber Venting: Small slotted gaps along the chassis allow faint purple light from the crystal chamber to bleed through.
- Retention Ring Pommel: A metal ring at the pommel allows the shoto to be clipped to gear or used as a retention anchor during rapid grip transitions.
- Reinforced Control Module: Externalized control box with dual activation toggles and manual adjustment dial for quick ignition and power regulation.
- Wrapped Grip: Layered leather and synth-fiber binding improves traction for rapid off-hand manipulation.
- Designed for Dual-Wield Combat: The compact frame allows Acier to use the weapon in conjunction with his primary lightsaber, improving defensive coverage and opening new angles of attack.
- Whip Interception: The shorter blade and maneuverability allow the shoto to catch, deflect, or interrupt flexible weapons such as lightwhips more effectively than a single long blade.
- Fast Handling: The reduced size and lighter weight enable rapid redirection and defensive movements in tight spaces.
- Scrapyard Engineering: Acier's mechanical aptitude allows him to repair and modify the weapon easily in the field without specialized equipment.
- Concealability: The smaller profile makes the weapon easier to conceal or carry discreetly compared to a standard lightsaber.
- Improvised Assembly: Unlike Acier's primary lightsaber, the shoto lacks refined internal reinforcement. Heavy impacts or prolonged blade locks can stress the chassis.
- Short Reach: The reduced blade length sacrifices offensive range and makes the weapon less effective when used alone.
- Less Balanced: The weapon was not crafted with the same precision as Acier's primary lightsaber and may feel uneven during prolonged engagements.
- EMP: The weapon can be shorted out by any electromagnetic effects.
- Force Nullification: Any Force related effects of the lightsaber and its crystal can be easily nullified.
