Staff Abandoning All Planned AI Tools For Chaos

Hey everyone,

I want to take a moment to sincerely apologize and clarify something important. When I advocated for the use of AI tools on the site, my intent was to explore constructive and helpful features—things like accessibility tools, writing assistance, or streamlined moderation. I saw potential for good, and I genuinely didn't consider that the same technologies could be tied, even indirectly, to harm on a much larger scale.

It was never my goal to support systems that could contribute to violence, especially the kind that harms innocent people—including children—in places like the Middle East. I now understand how deeply entangled some AI companies are in military and surveillance operations, and I deeply regret not doing more research before speaking in favor of these tools.

I realize how my stance may have come across, and I'm sorry for the insensitivity. I appreciate those who took the time to point out the broader consequences. You weren't being dramatic—you were being right. Going forward, I'll be much more thoughtful about what I support and how I talk about it in this space.

Addendum: While I'm owning up to things, I also want to apologize for not hitting even 10 roleplay posts in the last six months. Life got in the way more than I'd planned, and I let my activity slip. I know that consistency helps keep this community alive, and I'll do my best to re-engage meaningfully.

Thanks for reading—and again, I'm sorry for the oversight and the impact it had.

Hey [Username],

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this message with such honesty and thoughtfulness. It's not always easy to pause, reflect, and own up to things—especially in a community we care about—but your words show a great deal of integrity and awareness. That alone speaks volumes.

Your original intentions came from a place of curiosity and hope for positive change, and I truly appreciate the transparency in your reflection. It takes humility to acknowledge the broader implications and to listen when others raise concerns. That kind of growth-minded attitude is something we could all learn from, and I deeply respect you for it.

As for the roleplay side—please don't be too hard on yourself. Life has a way of pulling us in all sorts of directions, and your presence, whenever and however it shows up, is valued. The time and heart you've already poured into this community haven't gone unnoticed, and I'm looking forward to seeing you re-engage when you're ready.

Wishing you peace, clarity, and fulfillment as you continue navigating it all. You've got support here.

Warmly,
[Your Name]

Guess I have to take the Em Dash out to the back of the shed.

Goodbye... my friend...

I do unironically substitute commas for - when I feel it reflects the purpose or reason more but the double -- is a dead give away for sure

but why though, its been used before AI was even a thing. It's purpose is to add dramatic emphasis for the reader to help deliever the writer's intended emotion. Its why its called an Em Dash - I use it a lot particularly in combat writing to drive home an intended emotion through just the writing.

I feel people need to stop saying the em dash is the main reason why its AI - its in your books that you read...is that AI written as well?

Edit: - is a hyphen or an en dash, and a — is an em dash
