Description:

After examining the Otherspace drive that she had obtained several years prior in the treasure hunt spawned by Rave Merrill's will, and with the operations at Jen’asha Station picking up, Taeli Raaf decided it was high time to develop a brand new type of Otherspace drive to reach that dimension more safely.

Knowing the problem of the other system meant that a hyperdrive needed constant repairs if someone wanted to leave Otherspace, which was the main challenge that needed to be overcome by Aurora engineers. Going over data from the Aurora ships that traversed the alternate dimension from Jen’asha, it was seen that the arrhythmia method, while effective, was perhaps not the most efficient way to go about the problem. Maintenance upkeep being a driving force in moving away from that, it meant the engineers needed another method. After careful thought and simulations, the engineers began working on adapting the null quantum field generator found within hyperdrives to keep the hyperspace corridor stable and the hyperdrive field guide that transmitted the energy into a ship to allow for the hyperspace jump.

The resulting simulations led the designers to create a new system that they hoped would create a more stable way to shift into Otherspace and not force constant repairs in the form of the A-XX 200 Otherdrive. The A-XX 200 works by adapting the energies in the field guide to fluctuate rapidly for several seconds in a random manner. This then disrupts the hyperspace corridor, but with the modified null quantum field generator, the hyperdrive is able to handle the strain and the corridor remains stable enough that the ship does not exit the jump but shifts things into an Otherspace jump.

The system does have some serious downsides though. While the hyperdrive remains intact, other systems in the ship are not so lucky. Most every systems, except for shields, the navi-computer, and engines are disabled and will take various times to come back online, leaving the ship vulnerable. The system also limits the effectiveness of the drive itself for normal hyperspace jumps, equaling a Class 12 hyperdrive at the best of times, so it will take time for the drive to plot a jump.

OK I'd like a dev thread of 15-20 post and a link to the original drive under the primary source part of the submission. Let me know if you have anything to ask or discuss.
